The last bid that the sensei said not to show the technique to public, i think the people who came to watch this video produced by this channel is watched by experienced martial practioners globally which in my opinion just to appreciated the level of detail and benchmark of all martial practioners to strive for from seniors. Thanks to the team that produced this video to showcase hidden gems of the martial art world because it feels everyone with hope.
Reminds me of a drill I do in wing chun. The trick is not to push because if you do that your opponent can easy get you off balance to you can’t block. It’s very very hard. This channel is getting better and better. Thanks for charging this. 🙏🏻
Many thanks Master Higa, this Kakie exerciese have proven the old truth, feel for the opponentś technique and what mosthis intention are the keys to martial arts. Best regards and good health, Paul, retired instructor of Goju ryu Karate.
Note this is only an exercise. Not Shorin-Ryu fighting kumite. It's called "sticking and trapping hands". Comes from Wing Chum kung fu. Teaches FEELING an opponents attack and becoming part of it's flow with your attack so the action becomes one. The sensei here did not show upper part for the head area. Sensei Yip Man and Bruce Lee used this method EXCLUSIVITY to protect their head! When your block/strike become one it's gives a speed advantage. Do not confuse things that look passive as weak. Force does not need to be stopped better it's redirected away.
Lmao @ 7:36, some people don't realize that if a man had fast hands or was a hard hitter as a young man. He will still retain some of that speed or power. My father was known for his fast hands and he's 76 now. He still has some speed, enough to catch you off guard. There are stories of old men either beating up or knocking out younger attackers. These men were boxers, Grapplers (wrestlers/Judoka/JJ), Karateka etc. They had one or two more good ass whoopings left in them, ass whoopings for the young punk dumb enough to try them.
All my Sensei hated me. Probably most of them still do.... I like what I like. They like what they don't like; me. But many have given me jewels!!!. But my Daddy couldn't afford to keep me training so for 40 years of various methods I trained. I only know a few Kata. To me Okinawan karate spirit is gone. It was meant in secrecy, against police and Samurai. Now the people they fought against train in their dojo....so can a cop become a true Yakuza, and loose a pinky finger (sword finger). This is a beautiful adaptation of sticky hand's. Similar to some Aikido I have been lucky to study. I sense some Naha-te too. Don't mine me watakushi wa Baka!!!. Domo arrigatou gozaimashitsu.
