Brian, glad to your interview with McDick. I was out on the east coast and I was surprised how high tech potato farming was and how they use fertilizers and crop rotations too. In fact McCains mandates in their contracts with their farmers that they use these techniques.. In other words our farmer are will ahead of Trudeau in their environmental practices. It is Justin Trudeau that needs to be schooled not these amazing farmers. Perhaps you could do a follow-up with McCains on their growing requirements to back it up. There is a trend with Justin Trudeau, it appears he is following extremism and not the facts. As you have seen Jennifer Little who wrote COVID policies and NO medical background and nor will medical experts consulted. We will likely find there was zero consultations with experts on farming.. All Trudeau is following is a WEF political agenda and he needs to be called out on it!! Good journalism Brian, we need more of you.!!!

Farmers are pretty much scientists in a way. They need to understand meteorology for weather, plant biology, soil microbiology, nutrition, environmental science, as well as being a mechanic, a carpenter, a landscaper, all rolled into one career. We really should give them more credit because it takes a lot to make a farm run successfully and have the quality and quantity of crops thst provide us all with a healthy diet to enjoy for our families

@@jessiplourde58 I'll just point out that I supply welding rod and electrical products and regularly have to explain the difference between s6, s7 and wtf a nema number is. They're great laymen with a propensity to learn and expand their skill in impressive ways, but they're neither welders or electricians. They're farmers, and their lane is farming, a far more complicated trade than stripping wires or electrocuting steel.

I have worked with farmers my entire life across Canada. You will not find a more innovative group of people who care deeply about the land they farm on. Let them continue to innovate with technology provided by industry and get the government out of their business with there misguided tyrannical one size fits all mandates. That did not work out so well with "the thing".

Nitrogen is produced from the Haber process. It is pulled directly from air gas that is comprised of 78% nitrogen and turned into ammonia and reacted with nitric acid witch is also derived from air gas. In essence it's a closed loop system that helps carbon sequestering. If we reduce the systems we have in place we will only end up starving 30% of the people of the world, but I'm guessing that's the end goal anyway.

Farmers definitely know science and math ...just not " ThE ScIeNcE" lol
as a farmer, not really. i dont understand much of the science behind growing crops, more than the average person most likely, but not alot in the grand scheme. i hire agronomists to figure that out, actual scientists. we arent scientists, but we are constantly consulting with scientists, and constantly changing our practice to be the best we can. for fertilizer, we now have the technology to take data from the previous years harvest, and apply fertilizer in specific quantities in very specific locations so that no area of an individual field has too much fertilizer or too little, and we can be accurate within 1 inch with modern auto steer systems.

I've been following QDM's channel for quite some time....I wish many more people did, especially politicians and bureaucrats.......His messages are always "peeling back the layers" in a relaxed and well informed manner that exposes reality to us all...... (as well as entertaining as hell,..haha) ......
Yeah I like QDM because he can take the most serious subjects and make them entertaining. The entertainment factor keeps people awake so that the serious message can get through. Of course a lot of his videos are just good old fashion fun.
Quick Dick has done more to educate people on this issue than our MSM. Thanks Brian Lilley for doing this story.

Same here. I go to the local produce vendors and meat farms. They take care of me and I’ll do the same for them. It’s a tough go and we all help each other when living in the back-country!

It's NOT about "Emissions" ---- It's about GOVERNMENT CONTROL.

Canada is responsible for 1.89% of global greenhouse gas emissions and about 8% of that is from agriculture. So reducing the fertilizer by 30% might lower that to 7%, so the net effect on Canada's carbon output might be reduced by .02% in a global perspective. Meanwhile China emits almost 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions and big corporations make a lot of profit shipping those goods from China all over the world. The news tries to vilify China on their human rights yet we rely on them almost 100% for the cheap plastic junk that we buy everyday. I just shake my head at the stupidity of all this!

Governments, especially not Liberal Governments, should never put themselves in a position where they are telling farmers how to farm. Growers already are way ahead of government environment targets and best practice farm management and have been for decades. Why? Because it has always been in the farmer's best interest to do so. They are always looking for the most sustainable, environmentally sound ways of maximizing yields and in so doing, keeping the costs of food low not only for Canadians, but for export customers the world over. Canadian Agriculture produces the highest quality products using the most environmentally friendly methods. Any government worth the name should already know this.
Not just stupidity behind this. It's deliberate.

In about 10 minutes I learned more from that farmer about responsible farming than from the different articles I've read. Trudeau, Bibeau and their bureaucrats likewise should get up from their policy desks and spend 10 minutes (or more) listening to the farmers. -Thank you McDick and thank you Brian!

This is a defensive posture. The discussion should be more about how the government is well aware of industrial agriculture practices and it's being motivated by something other than "reducing emissions".

Love QDM, but there is a zero chance our PM will be meeting with him. At this point I think our PM has the same thoughts on Farmers as he had about Truckers this past winter, he is above them and won't spend a second of his jet setting time to set foot on farmer's land. There is something really off about this situation, they know global food supply is in trouble, and to add this shows that for some unexplainable reasons, they are willing to take the risk of making a bad situation worse by adding this mandate on farmers. I'm all for climate action, but not at the expense of putting hard working farming families out of business and having my own family starve. He Who Controls the Food Supply, Controls the People ... Justin wants it all.

The Federal Government has no jurisdiction on agriculture as it is a class of subject exclusively assigned to the provinces.
If the farmers say these new regulations are harmful, then we shouldnt implement them. We need the farmers to grow as much healthy food in an economical and sustainable way as they can. They appear to not want more regulations, maybe this new 30% fertalizer reduction can be paused for public/expert debate?

It might be important for everyone to note, that most Politicians have never been near a Farm (of any style) and most will work on the fact "that milk comes out of plastic bottle, sold at a Supermarket etc" - but when told it comes from cows, would probably be startled by such information, and are the ones (upon information from the Green Party) recommend that Dairy Farmers be taxed for allowing their cows to both fart and/0r poo - something about this action affecting the climate, BUT do they know that Dairy Farmers return the cow poo to the soil - enhances the grass development. Just like this Farmer, grow a green crop, plough back into the soil. Sorry Brian L, but JT is on holiday (in the sun)so he will miss this informative vlog.

Thanks you did an excellent job of explaining the practices that Farmers have been using to provide the services and food that the world depends on. And the fact is like your saying no two farms are alike the one model approach does not suit all farms different growing sessions for different regions, and soil types witch requires different nutrients and approaches. I'm not a no it all for shure you are always learning on the farm no matter what type of farming you talk about and you cannot explain any process in just a few minutes like this man did such a beautiful job for the time allotted. My concern is supporting the Farmers the people do it why does the government keep being our enemy. Always more cost comming down on the Farmers and it's got to stop .
Farmers aren’t the only stakeholders when it comes to fertilizer.
Farmers not grocery stores make your food. Know that and tell yourself that again, they are nothing more then middle men. Go direct with as many farmers as you can.
