Hinduism is flexible and it is correcting itself with lightning speed compared to other beliefs

    • @nadeemzuberi6415

Mahesh M what a joke. Religion is ultimate truth. If it is process of corrections, then this is not religion but a practice of group of people (they invent themselves). In single word, IT IS CALLED HINDU

.... Whatever you say and believe is 100% correct . We wish you happiness and prosperity.
Your logic stems out of same rudimentary concepts of Abrahamic religions.
If X is this , and Y is this , that means X is greater than Y and our religion is the best.
That is what zakir naik does all the times cheery picking texts from one religion and validating his own religion.
Jay talks about cohesion of multiple religion and their underlying principle i.e coming out of dogmas and feeling god within oneself.

I have always felt this way but was never able to make people understand , your video so simply explains it all. It should be in every school syllabus and then may be over years all religions will understand each other and not proclaim to be superior over the other. All scriptures are so similar deep down yet we all disagree.
      Thanks you for enlightening us.

Kiran Muramall because being Hindu you read nothing. He is claiming Hinduism is humanism- then why Hinduism exist. Hindu believe things in environment happen automatically and funny thing they think this is a religion.
Can Hindhu explain nature doesn’t need WHO create, control nature?

Beautiful . A heart touching effort to open the eyes of 99% of Hindus who are still in darkness about our religion , vedas, upanishads, bhagavadgita, Ramayana, Mahabharata which are not taught anywhere in our education. We are cheated of a wonderful knowledge.

As an American "White" deconstructing Christian, I came here looking for some information on the Vedas and Upanishads as I keep hearing that they contain some great spiritual truths, and found this fantastic introduction and overview to Hinduism. I agree with many comments here... what a treasure this Mr. Jay is. I love this beautiful, balanced, mature view of life, spirituality, eternal truth, and Hinduism. He points out the good and bad and everything in between of this religion. I have seen the same in the religion I was raised in called Christianity. Along with some good, I'm seeing the balance of the incredible bad that also exists. And as I believe Jay pointed out, the problem is that people have taken the original beautiful spiritual teachings and made a "religion" out of it... making our way of thinking the only correct way, emphasizing "us" vs. "them", making hard and fast rules that must always be followed, and spiraling downward from there. It appears all religions have a problem with that, and many (most) versions of Christianity are especially problematic in that way. Anyway, I very much loved this talk and am looking forward to listening to more from this beautifully balanced, spiritual teacher. What a gift he is. Much love to my Hindu brothers and sisters!

Hindu word itself is Arabic. Not indian. We call it sanatan dharam. We have a totally different idea of religion than Abrahamic religions. Our spirituality quest comes from the belief, you have to search for truth, search for God, pursue it. Till you reach God realisation. It canbe through various ways. Prayers, meditation, penance, study, service, charity. Etc etc. No word called curry in India. Or hinduism

My dear friend Mr lakhani I believe that you are geanious in the subject that you believe, but you made some of your audience to be coming hateful about today's India,
You know better why it's happened, when people become selfish and greedy and looted the rich Bharat for more than 1000 years, and suppressed our school of thought ( sanathan dharma), the same was pulled out of our tradition to ruins, and made good people to depressed and died, in the new era survivel of existence made society more greedy, the say like " yedha raja thadha praja"
It's not appreciated that to say every corner of the country problem was there,
It's because of more population, lac of good governence, lac of education, and corrupt mentality of larger sect of society,
Hence think how the feature young generation have to know our knowledge of sanatan civilization, and behave and respect according division of labor
      Educated people
      Care taking people
      Business people
      Working people
I think educated like you have to promote and practice and try to establish our sanatan civilization with new era

Very rational presentation of Hindu tradition. I agree we need to be self critical to understand where we have gone wrong. There is no argument on this issue. But I think all societies have good and bad things and I really feel sad when you generalise Indian society by saying that 'Hindus in India are suffering, they don't treat their servants in a dignified way, they are not civilized, people in London are really civilized' so on and so forth. You yourself said many times that there is no perfect 'black' or 'white' thing but there are many grey shades to a thing. As a student of history I am a strong believer of this idea that we should not take anything at its face value rather try ourselves to see the various sides of a story. Going by the same logic I think we should not talk about India in a stereotyped and generalized way.

Only in Hinduism we can talk so openly even about our shortcomings. No other religion allows that. And that is the reason Hinduism is so mature. I have not seen any other religion criticising itself more than Hinduism. Knowing your own shortcomings is a sign of maturity.

Good evening! In my observation, the challenge is to unite our own Hindus where in there are many sects Gurus methodologies, meditation and old ways of ritualistic worship etc... needs to be brought under one umbrella. An apex body shud be set up involving great saints who will be overseeing all are inline with the right interpretation complete truth as per the teaching of vedas/ upanishads.

It means something so valuable is not getting to the people because of some stupid algorithm in place to determine who it should reach. Nothing against the very scholarly technique to rate this , but the feed to evaluate this feed is surely flawed because these evaluators have lost the plot !
Point I want to make is this deserves so much more viewership than what the numbers show above.

Caste system is what we all know as Jaati in India. It is what is decided through birth. This caste system has no Hindu spiritual support! I repeat: No spiritual support!
Not the vedas, not the Gita, not upanishads say anything about a classification based on birth. They talk about the grand unity. How could they talk about such petty stuff?
Manusmriti has ample mentions and to malign Hindu spirituality some evil people have tried hard to present Manusmriti as Hindu spirituality. While in reality Manusmirti has got nothing to do with spirituality, its like the constitution of the time. The rule book for the society.
What is Varna described by Krishna?
So, what krishna mentioned was Varna, which is also a classification. But the biggest difference is that varna described by Krishna is based on Guna-dharma, which means - being true to our own being.
Thus in the case of Arjuna, every ounce of him is a warrior. He will always be a warrior even if he runs away from the fight and goes and tries to sit in meditation in the Jungle. Krishna knows that Arjuna’s way is not of sitting and meditating, his way is the way of Karma yoga.
How does krishna know Arjuna’s Varna as Kshatriya?
Because krishna did the checking. It becomes clear when you see from Krishna’s perspective. After Arjuna went numb and Gandirv fell from his hand, Kirshna started his counsel by giving him the highest truth first.
The fact that nobody dies, noone kills.
We were always there, we will always be. We just change clothes when we die. Thus the world is nothing more than a stage. And it doesn’t deserve any more importance than a stage act.
This knowledge is known as Janana yoga, Gyana yoga or Sankhya yoga. This Sakhya yoga says, just knowledge is enough, no action is required. Simply knowing is Mukti. Very few people have just known and beome free. Ashtavarka MahaGita is this Sankhya yoga. It says your biggest ignorance is that you think you are bound by anything. “You were always free, o divine one! “states the MahaGita.
Moving on, Krishna saw this knowledge didn’t convince and then he imparted the knowledge of Karma yoga.
Here it is important to note that the entire Gita is a personal conversation between Krishna and Arjuna. Not for once did Krishna say.. “ and for those who are not like arjuna, this is the method.”.. clearly a third party addressing is not there in Gita. Thus a lot of what Krishna speaks is specific for Arjuna, and this has created a big divide in the spiritual community. For example:
Krishna reminded Arjuna he is a Kshatriya and he should fight. If Arjuna were truly gyana yogi, kirhsna would not have told his this. It is because Arjuna is a karma yogi.Krishna advocates worship of God with form to Arjuna over formless worship. Again it is because Arjuna is not a Gyana yogi.
Hope the answer will help in some way in understanding the difference between caste system and varna system.
This should clear all your doubts.

when I was young, the older generation used to be exactly like you described here. they were not practical and didn't try to see what what they were doing amount to. I'm not sure they even knew how and why these traditions were so. and I'm finally discovering these meanings.
but I guess it wouldn't have mattered much because the things we experience ourselves are the only things that stick.
