- Narela was expected to be on par with Delhi’s Rohini or Dwarka, a bustling city within the city. But instead, it is a shell of a town. Those who live here want to escape. What went wrong?

I am a resident of Narela DDA. The main problem here are:
1) Connectivity (Nearest Metro station is jahangirpuri which is 20Km away from here)
2.) Employment issue:
There is no employment opportunities here. Due to this residents need to travel to main delhi for job opportunities. Which is very time consuming & exhausting. I have to travel 100km daily.
3.) Safety & Security:
As many slum people have been shifted by govt. To narela. The overall safety & security are very less here.
Extension of metro rail can definitely solve first 2 problems.

need more of this kind of city planning reporting.
No metro connectivity, no buses, no roads and no sewage how can one live here. DDA should address their concerns as this area has lots of potential.
I actually like this new multistorey building format that DDA is using. No scope for illegal extension/expansion by the owners. Look at these Vasant Kunj societies, all crorepatis trying to cover every inch of land they can.
Delhi metro postponed from last 20 years.
Bring metro and amenities
Had they had sense enough to give it to DLF to develop as they did Gurgaon!

Bring the Delhi Metro transportation and the area will revive 🚇👍 also fix infrastructure and sewage

Area is good but the main narela DDA housing scheme is far from main narela and situated in completely dark and abandoned area no one wants to go because roads are not built street lights are not there parks are not there no shops if anyone wants something to buy they have to go to the main narela city and the flats are so tiny no connectivity is there of public transport now they are building roads there flats were built 7-8 years ago and roads are now building and till now no street lights are there how can you expect someone to live there in dark places like these only drunken people go there to drink because it's a best place for them
Mera lig flat hai... mujhe dokha diya gya hai... 16 lakh la flat .. 2022 mein 10 lakh ka becha hai... shame dda shame ... I am duped. Only delhi metro can do wonders about it

This is a very dangerous place in whole Delhi. I was about to get killed while trying to visit my own flat.
Third class construction. I would suggest government to demolish these structures and refund owner's hard earned money.
Sabse jyada flats book ho rahe hain abhi k time me. Website bhi block ho jati hai itna load hai server k upar. Within one year dekhna yahan kitna development hota hai
DDA should provide more facilities and security here. Security is major problem.

It's not the fault of DDA Central Government is not giving attention towards northern people who travel from Punjab Himachal uk to connect delhi by road if they build a good infrastructure here half of delhi traffic will be over because singhu border is the only border which is not connected by road and metro instead of singhu border u can check Noida has 64 sec is connected by metro and meerut to delhi metro more than half complete

This is just mindless planning. 3-D satellite terrain imagery could be used to identify low lying pockets, elevated areas and natural flow of water to decide upon where to build housings and roads (elevated areas), where to drain storm water and pumping stations (swamps and low lying pockets), where to build sewage treatment plants and how much the gradients of sweages would be at any particular location. Once that basic problem of waterlogging and sewage blocking could be addressed, better paving of roads, proper illumination with streetlighting, betterment of connectivity with launch of new bus services and metro routes won't be much of a headache. The authoritiies that built up this area without proper pragmatism or planning, are both unprifessional, incompetent and might even be corrupt. Their sheer magnitude of negligence points towards their corruption more than anything else; they might have received commission from the contract developers in exchange of rushing through for awarding tenders to them without due heed paid on design and planning required for core goal of the project that is sustenace of habitability for those seeking a livelihood there.

get out of your dreamland, Delhi is not a huge slum, just parts of it are less developed because Delhi is a very old city.
This is the problem every old city in India is facing, new development is built upto the modern standards, but old settlements are facing difficulties in improving or upgrading their infrastructure even within the same cities.
