I have a 2017 GMC Sierra, it might be the same for the Chevy Silverado 2014-2018 models. This same truck's original harness and OEM bed lights cost around $130.00. It can be purchased at the dealership or on eBay or Amazon...or an online truck part distributor.
They come in either 3 watt, 5 watt, 7 watt, or 10 watt. It depends on what brightest you want for your vehicle. I purchased the 3 watt set for $19.99, and it looked like it had 60 LEDs on each light set. The highest-priced set that I saw was on Ebay for $49.99, and it was a 10 watt set.
The 3-watt set was all that I needed for my vehicle. It was damaged when I got the vehicle and the bed light on the left driver's side had been knocked off due to a parking lot accident. I didn't know I had bed lights until I pushed my Courtesy Light on my dash and one of the lights came on.
These bulbs are plug-and-play, waterproof, shatterproof, and have a 3-month warranty.
What are cargo lights for?
They are used for illumination to brighten the truck bed when "Loading and Unloading" the truck when it's dark.
How do they turn on?
They are usually turned on by a "Courtesy" light switch that's located on the dash. This original switch turns on a light that's on the back end of the cab, as well as the bed lights located at the rear end of the truck bed.
