I grew up in the '90s and am not speaking out of bias based on nostalgia, have had different favorites from Sonu nigam, udit narayan, kumar sanu, SP Balasubramanium, Kishore Kumar and eventually come to the stage, where I regard Rafi saheb as the greatest ever playback singer of India, male or female( i ve followed a lot of regional artists and their legendary work). The man was a myth, a miracle, and truly truly truly an incomprehensible singer. The more you listen to Rafi Sa'ab over the years, through different kinds of songs, unreleased, unpopular, rare works, you realize that he's arguably the greatest singer out of all vocal performing artist- entertainers in India in broad singing category beyond playback ( if you exlude genre specific specialists) The voice itself is enough to stun and strike you spell bound, trans- inducingly mesmerizing, divine, on top of the same, has he also been blessed with all shades, best vocal dynamics and the broadest spectrum of singing skills one singer can be blessed The man needs to be experienced and celebrated, cherished are the ears which experience Rafi sa'ab 's vocal sound and singing skills
