this is my greatest issue, and why i quit, playing apex legends: it is very unrewarding for casual and veteran players. i’ve been grinding since launch, holding an average 1.3 KD, and im always thrown against masters and preds. doesn’t matter how well or bad i do, im always outclassed, with no room to improve. so, i quit, and moved on to better things
Facts , quitting apex and 2k last year was the best choice I could’ve made . Pay to win and horrible SBMM

Yeah same, I've tried once to give Apex another chance, it had been about at least a year back when I tried again and I got dragged into preds lobby non-stop. My KD was around 1 and it just felt like all the players I met were some crazed adrenaline monkey jumping everywhere doing trick shots with a PK. I started around season 3 and I remember back then during these seasons how I rarely got people like this, lobbies were just better for my skill level back then.
Tho I will say I remember someone explaining how the online play of titanfall 2 went through the same hell and how the skill floor just keeps rising until the casual/veteran players just couldn't really play and enjoy the game anymore.
But how can you improve if you always hope to play with someone below your skill…
@@KrebiePetieh when u been playing since launch u know ur skill and ur skill level . So being put in a lobby a skill level above mine is fine. But u know when ur outmatched by ppl who are clearly way better then u (mostly cause we’re casuals and don’t got time to play for me then 2-3 hours a day ). If I wanna get better and not just have a fun time playing some pub matches then I’d go to rank and see my rank progress knowing my skill progressed
My fiancé recently picked up apex and she isn’t the greatest at fps games. She was facing the same issue with being matched up against players that weren’t remotely close to her level. She likes the game play but can’t enjoy it as much because she’s constantly being rolled by better players 😬.
100% this. My friends gf likes to play but she can't because it's way too sweaty for her.
I feel like that and I'm not new I just took a long break from the game. I shot at an Octane and he spasmed out running over walls and evaded my LOS like a MF.
This is such a big issue in apex. I loaded in to my very first game ever and the champions were triple stack press each with either a 4k or a 20 bomb. Respawn need to fix this
This has been a problem since early of apex season 3 maybe 2 I'm a season 0 player and it's now season 19 and it's still the same sbmm garbage no way in any world of gaming that uses sbmm should you be new to the game and get into a lobby that has a 20 bomb 4 k and is 3 times maybe 4X your LVL and you never played the game before that's not sbmm it doesn't work simple I've never played a game where matchmaking was this bad

That wasn't a bot, it was a real player. Your teammates will be real players but your opponents may be bots.
You’re not the only real player in the match it’s like 90%bots 10%real players that can be on your team or other teams
I was in one with my son and there was a 20b ttv wraith in there. People definitely spoof their way in there for content too.
@@saysomestuff that's kinda true but it also isn't I ran into a wraith who had won 3 games back to back and ended in my orientation match and we chatted about it for the whole game

I did this so I could play with my young nephew without throwing him in my masters lobbies. During my assessment matches I didn’t pick up a weapon or get any damage or kills. I just found creative ways to die. On my 5th match I got paired with a Diamond player on my team and another person doing their placement. The Diamond wiped the lobby and we ended up winning but again I had 0 damage and kills. My first really game with my nephew at lvl 2 was with a full stack pred team. The next game was a mix of pred and masters. Then more of the same. He was so frustrated after about 5 matches he asked if we could just go play around in the firing range. We did and then he never played again. SBMM shouldn’t do that to such low level players. It really makes the game unplayable for new people trying to get into it. But it’s been said since the beginning that new low level players are just lambs for the slaughter for streamers and I fully believe that. I’ve played one night in the past month and honestly I’m just not that impressed anymore.
Another example, I know theres many on here. My mom has been playing for a while, she is very much so on the bot skill level, but when I watch her play shes getting killed by masters all the time. It doesn't make any sense why someone with less than a .1 kd would be in a lobby with people who have that level of skill
I never actually manage to do it, but rumor going around is, those players purposely glitch the game to go into easier lobby for content or ego boosting. There's a thread in the cheating forum I forgot the name, uncensored something, where people discuss how to get in.
I know I stopped playing the BR mode after dealing with randoms who quit and leave, getting destroyed by high level players, or just players screaming at you like it's a billion dollar tournament. Now I just get on mixtape for an 1 hour or 2. Happy New Year Kandy.
Trying to play with randoms and having them quit when they get knocked is literally the worst, even in ranked games for me. Takes too much fun out of the game
This is a huge and pretty new problem, been playing since season 2 and people didn't quit nearly as often. Now I'm frequently left with no teammates because people make stupid plays die and then leave immediately like there's no res...

This. I tried playing BR here and there, but honestly it's not fun. Either ppl cheating their way up, or way over my level who just beam me the second they see me. Mixtape is def more my thing now.
@@newhausr I feel sad that you weren't able to experience the early days. I started playing in s3. People were always good but it was a lot more chill and fun.
Apex started being insane however since s18. Somehow the only thing you can get is hardcore lobbies. And that also for entry players. My friend just started and he got into masters lobbies immediately. As you say no fun
It’s annoying because if you’re new all you get is Pred day 1 sweats & on the other side of it, if you’re experienced & have skill, you get stuck with the level 6 bot lifelines who cant help

I’m a platinum player with a 1.2 KD and am forced to play my ranked games primarily against master players… some days it’s bearable others I’m getting torn apart game after game
People with Master Badges or actual Master players?
Someone under level 10 with less than 1 kd should NEVER be in the same lobby as someone with 100k kills. That is insane. No wonder new players can't get into this game.
i remember first playing on a fresh account, and the very first real match after orientation i played, my teammate was a pred player. and of course he left immediately

I have 1 month playing in apex, seeing apex predator badges in my lobbies with a kdr of 0.8 is wild to me lol

I have a lvl 502 account, and just played with a friend at lvl 1 (along with another buddy at 300ish). The interesting thing about the orientation matches is we weren't usually the only human squad, so it seems there's a pseudo matchmaking for people playing with their low level friends as well, bald wraith trying to tapstrafe and everything.
I'm rusty as heck and never been above Gold, but because my account level is so high when we got out of orientation we were immediately with master/pred three-stacks as the champion squad. Biggest problem for my friend was largely getting comfortable with dropping because no one wants to just die off the rip and new players don't know how or where the loot spawns let alone how to play the zone.
I'm glad there are still players for Apex but I definitely feel we're creeping into that territory where the learning curve is getting steeper. Not because the skill ceiling has changed (though it has over time), but just because there's fewer opportunities to learn gradually and not get immediately stomped. I'm not sure what a solution would be, because things like NPCs to practice on and get loot already were added (spiders, prowlers, etc) and the lower TTK is part of why a lot of folks are drawn to Apex.

This is exactly why i dont want to return after not having touched the game for like a year now, every time i take a break and come back i just see preds in most of my casual games which just kills my motivation to play. honestly i dont see myself coming back any time soon
We just start playing and it's awesome. In Warzone we had a lobby full of korean e sport players as newbies, while in Apex we constantly have ppl on our level.
You guys can get into the same lobby easier if you both queue up when the minute changes (say its 11:30 and you both hit queue when it hits 11:35.) A few years ago I tried it with my online friends and it worked nearly everytime even though we were varying skill levels/sbmm levels

Honestly as someone who just started a month ago I really enjoy the game and love it. Grinding it and playing with my friends
I’m new, I like it. Coming from COD played casually a few games in like 8-17. Now though I main in when I’m not working or with my kids in 18/19. Enjoying it, just wish they would put some points back into kills. Not all the way back, but let’s say you have 10 kills and finish 13th. That should be a positive game.

I've been playing since the start of season 18 and aside having the odd game where I land with a team that actually seem to understand the dynamic of 3person teams.... It's mostly been one person disappearing off on their own, getting knocked, and then moaning / dcing that we weren't there to rescue them. 3strikes has truly shown me how few people seem to understand the difference in that game mode.
Now this series I would love to see
In my experience the sbmm has taken a truly random experience where anything could happen, and turned it into a loop of matching with the same 60 players again and again. Every time I die to someone with 10k+ kills I take a screen shot and the amount of times I've encountered the same players in the past week is staggering. My servers are waaaay too populated for this to be possible
Thank you for making this video. To many creators complain about sbmm being unfair for them but I honestly don't see it, cause for me I have a .9 KD and constantly get matched against diamond and above players. Yes sbmm is broken but most content creators want to be in masters or pred rank but face people like me in casual. That's insanely unfair and ruins the game. Apex is by far the most installed and uninstalled game I have. It's a stain on the Titanfall universe in my opinion...

You get matched with people like that because those players ruin their own KD on purpose thinking they will have a chance to farm kills and badges on their account or just generally want to play against new players to feed their own egos. So a lot of people have ruined their KD thinking its gonna be easy to the point where servers are so god damn fucked that low KD lobbies are filled with masters/pred players. There are also people who farm badges with the help of bots to later sell those accounts and game thinks "oh there are bunch of bots/low level accounts lets throw you in that lobby. Whole match making system is bad in general
Gotta say its kinda sad seeing it like this. I quit around a month ago since the game does not feel rewarding for a casual player at all. I am by no means bad, but playing against masters and preds almost every single game and having a win rate of around 10% sucks and is no fun. Improving in such an environment seems almost impossible and I dont really want to put that much time into a game when I get frustated after losing like 9/10 matches

I started playing apex with my friend (a week one player) in season 7 and got absolutely curb stomped (like a 100 dmg game was good for me) and for whatever reason apex never stopped putting me in those lobbies even after I stopped playing with my friend. They need to fix something there.
Yep sadly everytime a friend of mine tried this game they had the same experience. Always ended up getting smashed by someone in masters.

I’ve been saying for a WHILE that the Sbmm needs reworked. It’s horrendous. I’m a pretty average player and I’m constantly playing against triple predators with 20 bomb & 4K badges. It’s incredibly frustrating and EA refuses to listen to average players. Maybe they’ll actually see this and make some changes

I played a ton when the game first came out like a couple hundred hours worth over the first 8 months to a year when it first came out and got into diamond once ranked play started too. I've come back recently after years off and I'm getting matched with the sweatiest people imaginable with like 50k kills and I'm like 3 games in after taking a ton of time off. Granted I've played other games so my aim is still good but the amount of movement tech that has been figured out in this game is insane and I've found getting back into this game to be daunting and really not worth it compared to even something like fortnite. Being the best gamer in my group of friends I really hesitate to recommend it to them because of how steep the learning curve is and if they were to play with me they'd get matched into cracked lobbies which is quite discouraging. I average just over 2kd and 400 damage per game and still find it discouraging lol
I literally had to make my own challenges to keep myself playing this game for almost 2 years. First it was trying to get at least a 2k with every legend which didn’t take too long and then I did getting 100k damage with every legend which I’m almost done with but even with those I still end up taking months off from the game because it’s still not enough

this is why apex infuriates me, back in og szns 0-5 i was sweaty 4k 20 u know and now i’m barely getting 2-4 kills with the occasional like 8-9 kills if im not dying off rip to masters/preds everyone of my lobbies has people with 60k kills sweating their balls of the game is just not casual at all anymore
my brother has over 1000 hours and wanted to try this game out ad im having a great time love the wingman hit everyshot.
my experience of the game as a new player. i was thrown against preds and masters in my lobbys so it was not fun time. i never even made it out of bronce. so the skill gap was way too big to even try to close. so after playing about 3 months i quit. now thinking of returning because other games i play are turning into super toxic and filled with surf accounts. that makes me wanna see if matchmaking has been improved from about 9 months ago. but it was bad experience last time i played. but it was good game from mechanical point it is just bad experince to play against people with top 500 skill level which made me just turn off everything and take a walk.

I wish I could show y’all this screenshot from a game I literally just played. Both teammates combined didn’t have 100 damage 15 minutes and 2 fights into the game.
All I know is this game punishes so hard for not playing consistently. If I start playing something else I become so bad at it
I honestly dont mind being put against masters and preds cause i use to be a diamond player back when i played alot. The part that bothers me is that the teammates it gives me regardless of the game mode (pubs, ranked, ltm) I always get the worst of the worst teammates to play with. Can never have one of my same skill level.
ive had 2 new apex accounts since 2020 and tbh the champion squad is each and every time the most decked out gamers you'll ever see. Doesn't matter if you yourself are level 1, 5 or 150.
When I do see players that have crazy stats like that it really is discouraging. Maybe that’s why I don’t hop on as much as I used to.

This video is old but the reason you get put in Master and Dimond lobby’s is because when those players are playing ranked all day the game forgets their not a noob and puts them in low skilled lobby’s which is the reason your matched with them.
I might be trippin, but after making a few new accounts it seems that if you're doing good on your orientation matches you end up playing your first games against very good players. After few loses it starts matching you with newer players tho

the literal "Bots" in the orientation matches actually say BOT in the name. The one that invited you was an actual person. Probably an actually new player, but it was a real player none the less.

My friend was at GDC some time ago and asked Apex devs about sbmm in normal games. They answered that it is veeeeery loose to being almost non existent cause players prefer speed of queue over quality. Also they said that their sbmm system consider that game was "good" if u got at least ONE knockdown, therefore giving u some mmr lmao, what a trash system.
I'm just getting back into Apex Legends after not playing for awhile since like either Loba or Watson released and I find I'm getting into crazy good players lobbies even after a week of playing and sucking, haha.
This is the exact reason why I quit playing trios and duos there’s no reason why im matched up against preds and masters damn near every game as much as i suck i even quit playing for a couple months my second game i was matched up against masters now i only play tdm and control
i started early this year on pc and i have enjoyed the game just got 3k career kills with 2.75 career kd

a few weeks before i got the cross progression pop up, my fiance bought a xbox and i decided to make an account just so i'd have it when i got the pop up. i played through orientation, did ok, and went into my first EVER xbox game of apex. i was level 2 or 3. i died off drop to a masters wraith. next match, my teammate was a mirage with a 20b badge. i stopped playing on that account until i got the pop up. it was both reassuring that i'm not crazy and disappointing that sbmm is putting fresh accounts in lobbies with masters.
Made a fresh account, didn’t really do extremely well but I was plat on my main (this was 2-3 seasons ago), after 1 under-average lobby and 3-4 average ones, I got placed against a pred full-stack. Sbmm in casual is a joke. (This was also in peak times in EU so there is no excuse of low player numbers). I feel like this ruins the game for casual players when you just get put in games where you have close to 0% chance of doing well.
I definitely don’t have the love anymore for apex even tho thid game had great things bad things I just can’t have fun in this game anymore. It’s been nice ever since I have left

Im not a new player but I havent touched Apex in 3 years or more. (When loba came out was the last time I played) and I never played like well or something.
Now Im queing againts people with golden emblems and more than 3000 kills and it no matter how horrible I lose it keeps me with that SBMM.
I constantly get put up against preds and masters as a new player who started a few weeks ago, I’m considering quitting cuz it’s boring getting eliminated 3 seconds after landing
the sad thing is the lobbys your new account was in are better than the one im in rn and im like almost level 300 thats just sad
ive been playing apex for 2 months and i already have like 250 hours technically over 350 since i play lots of r5reloaded and practiceda ton in shooting range but the matchmaking seems balanced to me, even when im against people in the tens of thousands of kills its not an overwhelming death.
They Really need to work on skill based next season it’s such a perfect time for it. I’m tired of running it to preds and masters
Yea, this game is dumb hard, I feel like the moment I get out of rookie I can’t hit anyone before they find me first. I wish there was a PVE mode like horde/firefight where I can practice and fun at the same time (not practice lab mode)

It really is like this though, while I was playing with a friend who’s new to the game I ran into faide I’m currently in silver since I haven’t played much this season but I’m former master/pred but my level 150 teammate isn’t at all nor should he have to be to compete
Apex dosn't have sbmm it has a matchmaking that well lets say you get 5 kills 3 games in a row the matchmaking thinks your a good player so it puts you in a diamond/masters/pred lobby

Its fun but every game no matter the mode I end up facing masters or preds despite being a low rank. its quite hard to try and have fun with the game when you get into those lobbies. I do get throw people into the mix and itll help them get better but not when they get lasered from a mile away and cant do a thing, cant run away, dont have the movement skills. Just hard to get a foothold. otherwise its quite fun.
Getting thrown into lobbies with players much higher than me is usually why i stop playing the game. Ill grind ranked once a year and get to like plat or diamond( whatever comes first) and once I do I start playing against top 500 pros which makes the entire game miserable.

I recently started playing apex again and my first match had 2 people on the champion team with 3 pred badges and a master ranked player, and the lobbies havent lowerd down to my skill level.😭😭
My lobbies there days are just hackers, bots, and people way above my skill level. I haven't gotten into game with someone on par with me in like 3 weeks. I literally have lobbies with people who are level 32 with 643 kills.
Casually, I just returned to Apex in Season 20, after 3 years of inactivity. Was barely level 2. Anyways, seeing his reaction, is this kind of matchmaking was not normal at one point of the game? I mean, seeing these kind of way too good players in every single match has became normal for me.
I've recently came back to apex after about a 6 month break and me being level 507 i somehow ended up in yours and booms game during the event and im no where near skilled enough to be in your guys lobbies. So maybe its just down to luck ??

Yeah I started playing BR in season 17 and I noticed that most of the people in my lobbies were way better than me. I had been playing arenas since it came out in season 9, but when they removed I had no other option but try BR, because mixtape is pretty mid.
I live in Brazil, and on my country the game doesn't have that much players like other regions, and the most part of the players are high skilled, and for me a newbie it's kinda hard to learn with people 10 times better than me

I mean my KDR is 1.14 and I’m up against preds all the time. I still have fun. Learning to play the game and using it to see WHAT I need to work on has been a good way to keep my brain busy.
Do I wish I was against people o nmy same level: yes. Yes I do.
But it’s genuinely fun regardless!!! You can have fun if you like the challenge aspect and the actual gameplay.

I do think this is the reason apex has been slowly dieting is the matchmaking, it’s like your getting thrown into a fight to the death against a lobby of Mike Tyson clones and you have no time to acctually practice and slowly climb up
