Sometimes, I become overwhelmed by the abundance of words in the problem, making it seem unsolvable. This approach truly aids in understanding and solving the problem effectively by breaking down the problem and eliminating any unnecessary information. Thank you!
Breaking down the problem was extremely helpful in this video because it allowed you to truly understand what the question was asking you! I like how he represented them as a door!
Taking the minute to break down the problem and remove any useless information really helps see what the problem is actually asking you. I sometimes become blinded by all the words in the problem that I think I can't solve it. This really helped!
I like that you broke down what the question was actually asking by removing all the extra "unnecessary" words and helped make sense of what they were actually asking.
Not only do I like how you break the problem down, I like how you mention the importance of knowing the key words which tell you clues as to how the problem.
This is how I teach my students who struggle with word problems to problem solve, I'm glad my strategy is accurate.

I like the way Chris wrote out an explained place value. I also liked how he picked out only the important parts of the problem to focus on.
The most useful part of this video was explaining the key terms before attacking the problem that always helps me be more successful in solving math problems.
Love the way the tricky phrases were simplified-- and the idea of dividing by 10 rather than crossing out zeros.
I like that dividing by a factor of ten was introduced instead of just calling it crossing out zeroes. This helps to understand what's really happening with the numbers when you're crossing out zeroes.
I liked that he simplified the language of the problem. These strategies are helpful to make sense of each problem.
I like how this video showed how to pick out what words are important. This tip helps make the problem more simplified rather than overly wordy.
The most important part of this video for me was keeping things simple and knocking out the information we did not need. Simplicity is bliss and sticking to the basics when first introducing a topic to a student is key.
I like that you pointed out the vocabulary in order to get a better understanding on what the problem was asking. It made the question seem a lot simpler!
I love the way he gets rid of all the unnecessary words to make life easier. I never thought of doing the problem that way (process of elimination). I also didn't know that the test mainly is about part to whole, it's certainly something to remember when taking the test.
I appreciated the strategy you used where you replaced "value represented by" with the number it is describing (10 and 2000). This made the question more clear for me!
I was so discouraged when I looked at the practice test and saw this problem. I love how removing the words made it so much clearer to understand.
I like that you highlighted key words, and ways to find the core concepts of the word problems without getting stuck in the wordiness.
You highlighted the importance of recognizing what the problem is asking by getting rid of the "extra" wording, relatable. Understanding place value plays a huge role in this problem as well as the trick of crossing out the zeros!
I like how Chris pointed out the wording of the problem. It's important to pick out the important parts that are needed to solve the problem. I understood this problem because I understand place value.

I like how simple and straightforward you made the problem. It helped a lot to hear you explain it in simple terms!
I like how you broke down the question to the most important key points. It made it more simple to see what the question was asking.
I really liked how you gave the reasoning behind dividing by a factor of ten instead of just canceling out the zeros which is always how i've thought about it.
I love the idea on simplifying the wording. The wording is what really gets me every time.
I appreciated the way he went over key vocabulary terms in this problem. It really helped me understand what specifically I was looking for vs. what information I already knew.
I like how he highlighted the key words first, helping find the focus of the question.
I liked how this video broke down the word problem by finding the key words and then breaking it down more to determine what it really was saying. This is helpful because word problems can be very wordy which gets confusing.
The idea of crossing out the original wording and rewriting it in a simpler way is very helpful.
Especially in the testing enviroment, a reminder to eliminate unnecessary information is so important!
Thank you for explaining this problem and making it so simple. I had hired a tutor and he said he taught high school and college math, and he could not explain this problem to me so that I could understand it. I never saw him again.
I liked how you broke the problem down, and showed us an easier way to look at the problem itself. I found this very helpful when finding the place value.
I really appreciate the breakdown of the word problem because it helps to identify what the focus of the question is!
Crossing out the sentence " the value represents" made a huge difference to me in being able to see the place value connection! Thank you!
I really like the idea that you could cross the zeros out but also that Chris gave us another way to solve it.
It is a good strategy to teach students to eliminate words in the problem to its simplest meaning. Getting rid of "wordy" problems is a great way to get to the real meaning!
What I liked about this problem is that you show us how to get rid of the parts of the problem that are not necessary for the problem and it shows how to simplify the problem and make it much easier to figure out.
