    The exact year is for sale near me but has a tranny leak and my mechanic recently had to close his doors. You made that seem really easy an I could probably do it. Should I roll the dice ? It's 1600 bucks. Thanks and subbed, great video 👍

      Likely a transmission seal, where the axles come out and go to he wheels. It would likely be fine and once you own it you can see how bad it is…lots of them leak but not critical game stopping leak.

      @@Turbo231 hey thanks for the reply. The guy says it's gotta a dead battery an has been parked for a while. I guess I could just pop a new battery in an if it works I'll grab it. Worst case scenario I drop 500 at some new mechanic. Hopefully it's not that much. Thanks again Turbo

    Trash in the pan sucks. I’ve have done this to probably 100 different cars & trucks. Why oh why don’t they put a drain plug on these things???? Ugh 🤦‍♀️

      It would certainly help if you just wanted to change the fluid or even better, just lower the level in the pan so it’s easier to drop.

    How is the Valvoline holding up for you? I've always read that you want to use genuine Dexron, but in many GM videos I'm seeing Valvoline. Just curious, thanks

    • @Turbo231
      @Turbo231  3 роки тому +1

      It’s gonna take a long time to see how that falls out. Initially nothing a good working transmission still works fine, but understanding it needs to meet the specifications to put it on their label, at least that’s the assumption. I used a Napa brand Dexron on my Grand Prix that wasn’t a variety of fluids, only Dexron, the transmission is iffy, and it’s just fine. I do run a bottle of conditioner in it, but I do most transmissions over 100,000 miles.

      @@Turbo231 Thanks Turbo! That’s definitely the plan. I took your advice and changed that fluid and filter. Dang..”Mr. Wigglesworth” cut the CRAP out of my thumb. Lol. I grabbed it by the bottom and my thumb went against the edge on the opening at the bottom. Like a raaaazor blade! 😳 Anyhoo, got it all put back together and then backed over my water main to my house..right as it started to thunderstorm. That was a fun fix too.😎 Anyway, thanks for your time and advice. May God bless and keep you.

    great video! how essential is it to use the break cleaner/carburetor cleaner on the pan before reinstallation? could you get away with just any sort of household surfactant? or even just giving it a good wipe with a rag? thanks!

    • @Turbo231

      Not really. I know with automatic transmissions you can measure pump pressure, but really, if it stops working, it needs a rebuild, be it clutches, bands, solenoids, other things, once you start losing gears, it’s near the end.

    Put a siphon hose in your dip stick tube and remove most the tranny fluid before pulling the pan, not near as messy and easy to do with no chance of harming anything. Also nobody never flush your transmission unless you enjoy replacing gaskets or even the entire tranny. Transmission flush is a scam. However when u get near 100k or buy a used car , first thing to do is trans pan drop filter change and you'll save yourself a tranny replacement!!
