    Good to see Black finally making it to the knife market as a blade material. I assume it cuts by instantly absorbing the atomic energy of the material, causing the sisal to microfracture ahead of the edge, right?

    I have one for a very specific purpose: Gloved winter-carry. I can open and close this with rather heavy warm gloves when other knives struggle. It carries low and safely in the pocket but if I were to loose it, it doesn't really matter.

    Your review on the Honey Badger is spot-on mate. Carrying a large for decades now, it still rocks.! Both hands sort of conformed to it, feel every bit of it. Not many people know this but it makes an excellent lefty spider flick. No high end steel but just got to know its limitation & keep up the maintenance. We take it into the bush due to its crispy spine. Cheers for updates.,

    I think the only two flippers I’ve hung onto are a civivi ortis and a SOG terminus (s35vn) as they’ve been used to the point where they aren’t worth trying to sell. The ortis in particular gets quite a bit of use in the kitchen.
    I think what killed the flipper craze (beyond saturation of the market) was the advent of button locks AND the patent on the axis lock expiring.

    Love the channel in South Africa they are halve the price of a tenacious also I've used mine on a lot of hard wood and with more or less the factory edge there was no chipping... totally right it's an ok knive

  • @P1015532oni
    @P1015532oni 10 місяців тому

    The 8cr13moV version that I currently have is also down to a 17 degree angle. Holds well without chipping on hard stuff. And because of the angle, it dulls rather slower than factory edge. And a few strokes on a spyderco sharpmaker gets it back to razor sharp fairly quick. But mostly, a bit if stropping is all you really need to bring the edge back to life. I love this knife. And this is coming from a hardcore Spyderco man. I actually prefer it to my expensive spydercos when I know for certain that I’m gonna put a blade through it’s paces. Cheap. Great action. Easy to sharpen. Probably the reason why beater knives get more actual carry time than grail knives in general.

      I want to like it. But there is no way to come up with an excuse for a D2 blade to chip by hitting a live...not dead twig the size of 2 toothpicks in girth. Even if it was a so called burned edge. I’m a fair person by nature and I just can’t come up with a ok. Even if it was a fluke and hit the only weak spot that was the only spot on the whole blade. I have two. Liked the first enough to buy a special edition they made. I have #400. Full size drop point. As a hobby sharpener owning a number of knives I can only guess at. From a $20 Kershaw to Pro tech to even a few customs. They heat treat D2 as well as can be done outside a single custom maker. Can't speak to their 14cr. I work in shipping and cut miles of cardboard every week. Have to go to PM steel to do better. However, outside of the best ergos under $150 had mine ran over with the yard truck. I still use it.They are not trying to compete with Rockstead. And all these knives are way overpriced. There just honest about what they are.
