New Biotech Killbox - The "Tox Box" | RimWorld (Biotech DLC)

- This is the most brutal, effective killbox yet. Still a prototype, but wow is it strong.
Funny enough, it's the most humane killbox I've ever seen in RimWorld. It's got about a 60-70% survival rate, with downed pawns sustaining no injuries beyond the toxicity. With time, most all raiders will make a full recovery. - Ігри
"These organs have been exposed to near lethal levels of toxic buildup, why do you think these would sell good?"
"They're organs."
"You're right, we're going to be rich!"
Not to mention the thousands of dollars worth of clean armor I got!
@@VenomSteak *Clean* is obviously suitable to describe clothes doused in lethal chemicals that is enough to kill an army of soldiers.
@@refuze2quit603 thank you, Ty😎
@@VenomSteak Was trying to be ironic but now it sounds a bit passive aggressive for no reason lol sorry if it sounded that way.
@@refuze2quit603 Na, you're good. I was saying "Thank you Tynan," for his weird logical inconsistencies that we can exploit.
That one raider shooting once at the main wall:
My goals are beyond your understanding
That's genius, untouched armor, barely any casualties and easy to rearm 👌
Thank you and I love the cat in your PFP
"Haha, now there's no way anyone will be able to reach me!"
*Raid: Waster Pirates"
"God damnit Randy"
Lol that's what the firebox is for
That last shot of the harvested organs... 👌
The best "killbox" for pacifists, organ harvesting, recruiting, or relationship farming. 10/10 will steal this design.
A human player would never fall into the kill box traps.... hopefully the developers improve the AI so the enemies can be more challenging to prevent unrealistic base defenses.
@@NTJedi there’s loads of mods you should checkout for that kind of thing, Rjmworld is built for you to make the game into whatever you enjoy most
@@NTJedi A human player is also never fun to most players. No one wants to fight a human, they want to fight what they perceive as human.
@@haihuynh8772 Statistics prove you are wrong... Unity shared its 2022 Multiplayer Report, focusing on the multiplayer genre and its popularity. The report states that more than half of the global population play games (52%), and 77% of them play multiplayer.
@@NTJedi How is that related to my point about RimWorld.
Those other multiplayer games are designed in a fundamentally different ways and do not apply to RimWorld's design. People play those games with different expectations, and play RimWorld with different expectations.
Everyone will hate a "human" AI that cannot be exploited.
Imagine if Wasters decided to raid and enter the killbox lol

Good on you, you got this. I left a comment a while ago on my old account saying that your content was very high quality and you could make it to 100k. I still believe that and it looks like your video skills have improved since the last time I checked your channel. Keep up the good work!
so kind of them to break some doors to help vent the gas
omg the zoom in on the people and the zoom out on the organs! lol
Oh nice, been trying to find some effective uses for tox gas. I must've missed the mines. Is it better to let them enter the box as a big mass, or do you think it would be more effective with collision so they enter more slowly?
If you took out the side doors, would they just panic attack the walls to get out, or would they pile out the way they came? I assume they are there just to make it easier for you to get in and out, but just wondering if you can increase the casualty rate.
It's better to have the raids enter stacked, that way they all drop about the same time. The doors are there to help disperse the gas to prevent people from dying, the idea is you want as few casualties as possible.
I guess you could make the doors of materials with high HP as well as the walls, so when they try to break out they take longer giving more time for the gas to have effect
@@koresaliva you really want the raiders out as fast as possible so that you can send your people in to clean up the mess they left and salvage anything that can be useful (such as living bodies)
@@Robosium But as you can see in the video, most of the raiders are left alive (I'm presuming op is playing with Enemy's death chance on downed set to 0%) so you can buff up the door's hp to be slightly higher than wood just long enough to get the remaining people down and maximize profit
@@VenomSteak The most chaotic good kill box I have ever seen. Quietly putting down a horde of raiders without killing them, but warcriming them with chemical warfare. Helps out finding good pawns from these groups. 10/10.
- Gans are we a bad people?
- Maybe...
The shot of your spoils at the end was amazing 10/10 video
Replacing the wooden doors with granite ones would certainly keep them in a lot longer.
Fast repair
I want the doors to come down. If they don't most everyone ends up dying and that is not what I want.
@@VenomSteak you Can use conducts
Was expecting a killbox using the new toy box items for playing with babies.
But this works too.
Imagine if raiders got distracted and started playing with the kids.
Oh no, my weakness!
Children!
*starts becoming caretakers for the weaponized orphanage*
@@edward9487 ...then the kids all pull shivs
WW2 comes to mind when seeing this
Great for looking for new colonists. There's almost certainly a tough bloodlust guy in there somewhere
lol my thoughts exactly
I too am well versed in ABC warfare...
Tox gas + bong cloud+ freezing cold+ rot stink maybe =
bye bye counciousness, they drop like flies 👌
good upload
Yeah the autobong is missing from here, so I know I could push this even further
"My own specialll brew, would you like to try someee?"
This is so cool!! I want to make this ASAP
This really helps me concentrate
It is a very good way to break the Geneva Convention
This gives me good memories of the oven killbox
The oven is still very viable! In fact, this can be converted to that real easily.
Hey, that's a lot of humanleather hats!
Another reason why I love playing waster so much.
What is this, 1939?
"With time, most all raiders will make a full recovery." Shows organs storage in the end...
-- I don't know, man.
*what's left of them* will make a full recovery!
Rimworld is my favorite game, and I'm always looking for new inspiration. Thanks for inspiring me, my friend! 🙂 Damn, they went down fast.
Also, that grenadier in the beginning? "I'm gonna destroy THAT wall." Throws one grenade. "Eh, I'm bored. I'm gonna see what the others are up to." Follows the coughing noises 😅
Lol yeah, he aaaaallmost had it! Too bad
A human player would never fall into the kill box traps.... hopefully the developers improve the AI so the enemies can be more challenging to prevent players from using unrealistic base defenses.
@@NTJedi Well, if you got a bunch of closed doors and an open door, you take the open door if you're breaking in. It's not a "lol dumb AI" thing but common sense. You don't think that way because you assume the "human player" would have a sky view of the base and know what's behind each door and wall, but if it doesn't and instead has a ground view, I'd say picking the open door sounds like saving time.
@@TheHarcipoter If you play the game then you would see the dumb AI will send hundreds into a single corridor where dozens die over and over and over.
Maybe in your mind you would still walk into a corridor after watching 5 people die in front of you, but that's "Dumb AI" inside a game.
@@NTJedi Still a good reproduction of human behavior. Look at D day. You think those idiots seeing everybody get mowed down in the beach were like "oof let's go back and swim" or they pushed forth? Heck, look at every siege in history. They push forth. Maybe you chicken out after one dies, and STILL the AI does that too! Except it waits until 75% are dead before chickening out.
Did something similar with the Helixien Gas Vents but it didnt work that well.
The most important Question of all: is the Tox Gas flamable?
It's not.
This isn't Waco, buddy
It isn't, and thank God. That would be a nightmare.
Shame, i loved it when the Incindenary Mine at the End of the Tunnel set off everthing, including the Vents though. But always a Firework.
@@fuchsmichael93 that does sound like something out a movie
Is this just a demo of the mechanism?
I'm not understanding why the raiders chose to enter that area, since I thought that everyone needed to target a separate item inside the base.
Yeah just a demo. The raiders enter the box because they are hardwired to path towards hostile turrets. And I have two of them at the end of the tunnel.
So satisfying
Have you tried using vented tunnels and tox grenades instead to save on IED's?
Vents don't work bc they just punch them to shreds. Actually more expensive to replace than the traps themselves.
If you want your metal back, just take the armor/weapons off the enemy and smelt it down. You'll get more than what you spent back!
What are the enemies pathing to?
a table and two turrents < {a single pawn or zoneable animal}
It's important to get them to path to an entrenched turret, that way they stay bunched up. If they were to spread out, their movement patterns become less predictable.
Yes, but thought there had to be a squirel or pawn roughly were they were so they would path to them
FATHER OF TOXIC GAS AND CHEMICAL WARFARE
Does Tox gas weaponry (such as these mines) cause pollution?
no
Nope, it dissappates with time.
People dying because of a war crime
The music :💃💃💃
I dont see no UN on the RIm. Plus, its only a war crime if you lose.
The ending is hilarious)
Amazing
How are the explosive gas mines called? Are they from vanilla or from a mod?
"BIOTECH" DLC. They're great.
This is real 'BioTechnology'
I was gonna call it the most evil killbox until I realized it has the highest survival rate of any killbox, to date.
@@VenomSteak Yes they survived, but after they wake up and find that some part of them is gone.
Very effective I'll have to try my own
It's evil, but effective
@@VenomSteak it's the rim. Harvesting a sedated human is the most humane thing happening here.
It's actually the most humane killbox. ~30% casualties is much lower than any other method I've seen.
@@VenomSteak What is the most inhumane killbox then?
@@miakodakot7359 the other one I just finished testing. God rest their souls.
user Аdolf liked this
This killbox is rather kost intensive for a beginner level killbox no? Im not sure how much the poison traps cost but the ammount of them is always the same for 3 men raids aswell as 60... Maybe building a common killbox and adding this maze as an entrance if you have the ressources is an option
It's definitely a late game killbox. But it you want to, you could use the basic design for anything really.
I’ll be replacing my fire killbox with this
The end was unexpected yet genius hahaHAHHAHA
With the right Ideology, you could have both.
That's pretty nice, but why not pollute it instead?
Edit: It doesn't do much.
Holy fk I need to buy this DLC
I'd give it maybe another week or two. They're still working out some of the kinks. TBH I've had more frustration than fun with it so far.
@@VenomSteak What problems have you ran into? Just surprised, cause I've been playing it almost every day since Biotech came out and haven't noticed much.
I personally like it.
Finally you can , modify genes at will, have baby's, build destructive robots and even become (almost) immortal.
Most fun in vanilla rimworld I ever had.
don't listen to VenomSteak, this is the best DLC they've put out
@@Marqan My issues are more on the development side of things. Frustration with "balance" decisions, lack of accessibility to certain parts of the game. Gene modding is too random, fathers end up hating their babies because of a little crying. Stuff like that has been taking some of the fun out of things for me. The good news is, the devs are listening to us folks in the Dev server, and things are generally getting better.
Is there a particular reason that 4 of the walls are made of wood?
Yep, it's a safety measure. If there's too much heat/gas, you can deconstruct those quickly to prevent casualties.
Why did they go in the killbox anyways? The actual entrance wasn't even connected to it
Trying to get to the turret. I don't make the rules, I just exploit them :D
Dunno, sounds like just the old solution with extra steps.
Probably
That's dirty...
why are they going in there? To kill the turrets? I'm new to rimworld and raiders never go where I want them to.
Yep, raiders' AI is generally to prioritize accessible turrets. I think Tynan was trying to nerf their usefulness, but ended up making them way more powerful instead.
how do you get their organs? 3 organs in and the whole colony is in a massive tantrum state
ideology lets them not care sometimes
Ideology. I have a "precept" that makes my colonists not mind... organ donations.
@@VenomSteak oh that is why.
Can someone explain why they went into the box instead of just b lining straight to the unguarded wooden door at the bottom?
I think the pawns have a priority to attack gun turrets
Pawns dont like to destroy thing to progress to the target. Their target is usually a pawn, colony animal or a turret. So they prioritize way with least destruction (unless its breach raid).
The raid prioritized my turrets, and the unguarded furniture. Their haste was their undoing.
Pretty humane killbox, so you don't need to kill raiders by shooting them with cruelty. Instead you can harvest their organs, get some bacon, and leather out of th-- oh wait.
Now you're speaking my language!
This is why I never installing doors in killboxes 🤣😂
That's a feature! If they didn't bust out the doors, a lot less of them would survive. I'm all about the humane killboxes these days.
(The Kaiserreich has entered the chat)
How well does it work against mechanoids?
Not at all. That's what the singularity is for.
@@VenomSteak Know of any good video explaining that one? It's been a long time since I last played, as far as I know, only the regular killbox was a common thing back then. (While at it, know of any good defense ideas other than killboxes?)
@@Dagroth check out Adam versus everything's singularity killbox. He explains it great. As for non killbox strats, you're I luck! I'm planning a series on that.
@@Dagroth Short version is, make super-soldier units. Kit a few melee warriors in marine armor, uranium maces, then back them up with Rangers. Assault rifles are best, sniper rifles can be good for niche-use as well. Finally, kit all Rangers with psychic lances. Berserk are the best, especial for centipede raids.
Rimworld players trying *not* to make a cremation or a gas chamber challenge (impossible)
Lol pretty much
I'd like to ask, what and why? I don't totally get it...
1. Turrets/furniture draw raiders into confined quarters
2. Raiders are downed due to toxic shock
3. Profit
Basically, it's a good defense and a money generator. It requires a lot of work on you and your colonists' part, but you can get organs, armor, good colonists, a whole lot of useful things with this design.
didnt people do this in WW2?
Winston wave 500% here I come
Godspeed
Aren't there enemies that are immune to the gas?
Yep. Wasters and mechanoids. Also bugs. So it's not a catch-all. It's just a tool you can use against certain raids.
@@VenomSteak Gets wasters and insects too: ua-cam.com/video/lPfY4gWipEg/v-deo.html
@@Liwet. Damn. I've been perfecting a very similar build for a while now. And there Adam goes, beating me to it XD
but dont tox mines like that polute your own landscape?
It's ok, just collect the waste, put it in a transport pod and send a Christmas gift to your friendly raiders base!
They do not. They are also very effective in open areas, as they create a lot of tox gas when they explode that lasts for quite some time. You can shoot the mines to poison raiders taking cover if you don't use killboxes.
@@molybdaen11 I send it to the furries
Yeah na, their stink disappates over time
When i see downed raiders, all i see are more subcores or more money
True, that would be a lot of mechs...
They died from battery acid
A gas chamber with wooden doors lol
Heh
Why did they even go into the box? It's not even connected to the place with all the beds
Non-breaching raids always prioritize turrets. If they have direct access to turrets, they'll beeline to them. I also put a bit of furniture in there, to be sure.
So many steaks! 😍
Genuinely laughed out loud at this.
Considering the toxin levels, it'd probably be a venom steak...
just be carefull with genetic toxic people because that would be a hell of a upgrade for them xD
Yeah, that's why we got the doors too. The idea is you have a fire box following the same design, force your enemies into that. And for mechs, you have prayer.
Why are they going in there? Is it because the endtable?
Endtable/turrets. Perfect draw for enemies.
@@VenomSteak Thank you, I didn't know that.
a very rat but efficient way
You want rat defense, I got another vid for that
@@VenomSteak yes
I hate the pig union

i smh get ww2 flashbacks idk why
is this a german invention by any chance?
this seems completely broken even if it's a prototype
Considering its useless against mechs, wasters, and insects, I'd say it's pretty balanced.
@@VenomSteak but you can capture a lot of humans to harvest them, sell them, or recruiting them. You can still create a killbox for the other enemies, like a singularity killbox
The only thing it isn't good for is recruiting. It's kind of an issue when they get cancer from this incident.
Yeah... truth.
they need to update AI cause that was fucking stupid XD like on of them throws a nade at the wall and then thinks "wait im supposed to be dumb im going back"
Well yeah, that's what breacher raids are for. Tbh, RimWorld combat in general needs a rework though. So much of it doesn't make sense. I mean, where do these raiders get 103 people willing to fight to the death, over and over again? Why do miniguns have a forced miss radius? How do people punch through walls!? _Madness._
that's not very geneva convention of you 🥴
Problem I have trying to enjoy Rimworld w/o cheating in dev mode anymore is that majority of the raids I see are "will find alternate way into your base and avoid your defenses" or "dropping into middle of your base bypassing all your defenses"
Literally 1 in 5 raids if I'm lucky is one that comes from outside and will actually use my defense setup.... So beyond annoying. Would turn off the other bullshit raids and ramp up difficulty if I could prepare a defense and know that it will be used in every encounter.
Yeah. Sometimes I think Ty listens to the hardcore fans who want more difficulty too much. But hey, here's something that might help: get some psychic lances. Get those drop-pod raids to turn on each other can really turn the tide.
@@VenomSteak oh I've tried lots of solutions and some work. But because they can drop and crash through roof. If they land in one of your storage buildings with a bunch of expensive stuff and start shooting and destroying everything like I'd rather just quit reload or cheat then lose everything I have because they decided to drop in the middle of my base.
Am I most recent playthrough they landed in the middle of my hospital and had been destroying like expensive beds and electronics and all kinds of crap before I could even begin to mobilize people to defend. Then when I got people to start defending all the crossfire destroyed half the rest of the stuff....
It's just not fun for me.
@@VenomSteak in my most recent game I was almost entirely inside a mountain which helps a lot.... But then no matter how hard you try, you still can get infestations in perfectly clean floored areas where there's dirty areas nearby, which again can ruin all your stuff
Bong box was more fun tho....

@@VenomSteak newest rimworld update is jus death by fard fr
@@aquarius5264 XD
Very effectife but not cool, its getting super easier.
My opinion on RimWorld's balance is probably a video by itself XD I think Tynan should move away from all the tweaking and tuning and just embrace the chaos that RimWorld was borne from. I played the game at release, and I'd been watching it since the beta. It was _fantastic_ . The more they try to control it, tune it to perfection, the more problems that seem to arise. I wish they could just let it be crazy, broken, everything that made it fun to begin with.
*Laughs in german*
