At first I was opting for the GTD, due to having to drive a lot, but the quality/price for the model is really bad here in Italy (starting with no optionals at 43000€). My final choice was the Golf 8 R-line 1.5 TSI 150 cv (starting at 30000€). A higher quality/price in my opinion, since the literally only thing changing is the engine. Almost the same mpg with the EVO engine, but no adblue and diesel restrictions (for historical centers) anxiety. The GTD, anyway, will always have a place in my heart.

cost reduction on this mk8 is horrible, u need a fcking strut to keep the bonnet open, the virtual instrument cluster is 30%smaller than mk7, the capacitives buttons are useless and not backlighted under the main infotainment screen. The seats seems dirty even they are new. im a serious vw golf fan, but i'll stick with my mk6
I ordered mine on 1st July 2021 for October 2021 delivery, Then December, Then January, Then March 1st. Now told end of May 2022. The good thing is I am paying July 2021 prices, Over £5,000 less than new price now.
Lol theres at least 360 of them in my gti clubsport / 462 torque. And thats only on a Stage 1 tune. Check build on my channel! Also invidia highflow downpipe coming soon! 👍

Seat leon 5F CUPRA 280 is best model on the planet and as stock made it with 280 horse power standard it is a beast!!! It is a shame that the CUPRA still has more power then the new one golf 8 gti haha

I agree with you Carl! Only the depreciation is something to worry about on this new diesel car. But a 2.0 diesel is such an amazing daily driver!

nothing stopping you from that car. the gtd is supposed to sit below the gti, hence the lower power output.
The mk5 gti probably has more hp, but definitely less tourque than the GTDs 400Nm. You have to remember that it's a Diesel
