Thank you for all your great advice and information. I am a very seasoned gardener (35 years or more) and have learned a lot from your channel. Love the “deep dives” and not just the basics that a lot of other channels discuss. Keep up the great work!
I'm on my 5th Year of growing pepper plants and I figured out on my own that too much intense light can cause this affect very early on after I started growing.
This was very timely! A couple of days ago I noticed some purplish blotches on my bell pepper leaves, and I took pictures and sent them to our local Master Gardeners to see what the problem was. We were thinking that it might be either a phosphorus deficiency or something to do with the grow lights being too strong. So when I potted them up I gave them some extra snacks and backed off a bit on the lights. Fortunately, they otherwise are looking ok, and it's great to have some pictures and more of a walk-through of these potential problems!
I've seen this with tomato plants under blue/red LEDs placed at the recommended distance of a couple inches from the top leaves.... It takes the plants a while to recover, but they've always cleared up after moving to my outside greenhouse. Peppers much less affected than tomatoes in my experience. Dill & parsley also susceptible, and they suffer (slow growth, puny) for longer.
You have basically relieved a lot of stress for me already and it's just April. Thank you.
I have purple basil 🌿, it still tastes good. I want to grow banana peppers 🌶️
Just happened to me, thanks for the info!
Glad I could help!
I wish you guys grew pimento peppers, I grew 2 years ago, I’m growing again this year! I’m following your tips ! Wish me luck!
Mine are a bit purple right now. Perfect timing for this video. Thanks. Going to turn the light down now. 👍

Excellent video, full of useful information. Thanks for sharing.
Great timing! my ks lemon starburst is getting some slight purple coloration on the top.
I needed this 5 weeks ago 😭 the purple severely slowed the growth of my shishito seedlings and i would say the stems are relatively week now, but were on the 3rd set of true leaves
I'd noticed my Nardello (planted last spring and is already producing fruits!) has a purple flush on the stems where the fruit connects to the stem. Cool video, cheers!
I recently read that if you let 2 pepper seedlings grow together and plant as one, the extra foliage will help shade the fruit and prevent sun scald. Any comments on this? Thanks so much for this great channel, I watch it all the time!
Fantastic info! I often get small streaks of purple showing up on my Pageant and other banana pepper varieties’ leaves in their infancy and was curious what was causing it. It could be temperature as a factor as well since the grow room is a little cooler, but I’ve always been concerned of nutrient deficiency or a watering issue and this video helps put some of those concerns to rest. They correct once hardening off and transplanting occurs.
pepper geek, i love u so mch. im just grow habanero (pepper) and im looking for tip n trick and u give tip and trick. thank you so so much!!!½
Random question ive looked into it and never seen a definitive answer, can you top dress pepper plants with a horticural grit, like you would a cactus and succulent? Would this help with root insulation and drainage?
I have a question for you please. I have a ghost pepper plant and the night time temps dropped to 49 degrees for about 3 nights. The peppers on the tree turned from dark green to a lighter green. Will they still continue to grow and turn red?
Have something like this with Tomato plants some have the issue some not..
The hardening off period worries me. I think it’s time to start but the leaves IMMEDIATELY started curling when I took them outside. What should I do?
omgooodnesss stupid me, thanks so much!!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Holy cow, I have over 20- 50 gallon containers and they all act different every year. It has become a cr@p shoot caause I'm not going to the 'somewhere' to get each one tested. My approach, water, feed, hope.

What did I learn? Anthocyanins is a word that is used a lot in this video and after the 200th use of it there was a definition lol it was hard to listen to the video because the amount of times this word was used. Great video non the less thank you for the education.
