I had a similar situation this past week. I called customer service on Sunday they determined there was a problem with the camera and sent me a UPS label. Unfortunately, they told me they would not replace the camera until they received the bad one back. I was impressed with the fact that customer service is available on Sunday.
You had me at good customer service. Malfunctions are bound to happen with any product; it’s good that you shared your experience with their service. Good review!
Yes, and now they have 7 day a week live help. Always hated having to take my camera down and setting it up at home to work through when customer service was only m-f.
I really love your reviews. They are very thorough and touch upon every feature we all look for in a trail camera. I bought a Campark TC06 just because of your video. Keep it up and I will continue to watch your channel and your camera reviews!
There is a desktop app to use on PC or Mac. It allows you to download directly in one step. Your phone is not required for downloading, but camera control and setup is still done from your phone. Great videos. I enjoy watching them!
Great review and quick replacement too. Sounds like you got it all figured out and it is working well for you. Good quality in the footage too. Take care and have a great day.
I have four of these and they have pretty much been flawless. Set up is so easy and battery life is excellent. For the price I don't see how they can be beat.
Their customer service is tol notch, i had a 7000 series camera that quit working after a year and a half. Called them and sent it back and just recieved a new edge series yesterday. Mounted it today.
Glad to hear it worked out for you and the customer service was good! A big turn around on the review of the original camera! Thanks for sharing and Good luck with everything my friend!
Spot on reveiw. Couldn't have said it better. This is my very first cell camera. And i absolutely dislike the no port to retreive my videos almost makes me want to try another brand. Only because of that issue. I love moultree products and they'v been around a long time. But that 1 thing is a big downer.
I’ve said it before , a company is only as good as both their products and their customer service. Glad they stood behind their product and you are now happy with this camera. Good to know.
Great video I purchased the moultrie going by your review, but the one thing I really don't like is you have to purchase a plan for each camera, it seems to me spypoint offers one plan and you can add multiple cameras at no extra cost would any of the other manufacturers offer this feature thank you keep up the great videos
Nice follow up video Dave! Given the two cons - primary being lack of usb port - I will wait to get one until that is resolved. Great info Dave!! Much appreciated!
I received a message a week ago saying Moultrie was going to update mine soon. Sure enough it did update this weekend. I have not been running mine on video mode since we are using it around our chicken Coop to watch for predators. But after the update the pictures look more like the HD pics you would normally have to download separately. I am guessing the videos may have got the same update. Just checking if your cam also got the update.
That’s a shame it went wrong but great you’ve got it sorted! Customer services isn’t often a thing people look at when buying something so that’s great you’ve shared your experience!

My very first cam was the moultrie game spy. A huge tank-of-a-cam. And my moultrie 888 is one of my super-reliable cams, it's been a workhorse. And my moultrie pano 180 is for sure one of my favourites, it misses absolutely nothing, due to it's three lenses. But i leaned away from moultrie around the time of the S-50. I was soooo eager to get it, as it's video looked so good. But from everything i saw on it, it was terrible on battery-life. Something that surprises me, with this here cam, is how few leds it has.
I appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts and experiences. I still believe the Mountie M80 was one of the best cameras I’ve used over the years👍
Do any of these cameras take a sim card that you already have? Not ones with monthly plans. We are paying for a Sim card that goes in our RV that we could be using for the trail cam when we are not camping...
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. I’m hoping they include a USB port in the future. I also understand that the SD card causes the most issues (evidence by their customer service calls).
I bought a Tactacam Reveal and they emailed me to call them back during business hours They do not have readily available customer service - I mean come on no customer service on the weekend isn’t hunting a hobby ?! I’ll buy the Moultre !
New to hunting cameras. One thing I don’t understand, why aren’t companies providing different type of mounts to achieve the direct of the camera? If I mount the camera up high and want it to point down
Poor battery life could be connected to older firmware versions. Make sure you have the latest firmware update installed on the camera. Moultrie customer service can help if you have trouble. 👍
Hello from (MaineNorth Woods Hunter) again. I wish you would have done the cone test again with your new camera. My camera just is not reliable for taking pictures at even reasonable distances. It seems to be a common occurrence. Sadly I think it is time for me to switch to a different brand. With your downloading video and photo issues, you can also download the Moultrie app to your computer so you do not have to make that extra step getting them from the phone to your computer. That is what I do in that situation.
That's a lot of batteries, and an easy setup. Just wish it had an SD card. Nobody wants to take their laptop out to the woods with them. By the way thanks for wearing the shirt. Great follow up review.
4:49 When discussing battery life you said you put in 16 batteries, and your still running on those 16 batteries. This tells us nothing in regards to what kind of battery life we can expect. How many days was it?
There are many variables (daytime vs nighttime, video vs pictures, immediate transfer vs delayed transfer, and many more). In general my Moultries will last 2-3 months on 16AA batteries 👍
How's she goin'? That was pretty good service from Moultrie eh Dave!! Ya gotta like a company that stands behind it's products. The camera looks like a winner too. You do a very good job reviewing these trail cameras. As an experienced user, you know what to look for and what could be an issue and you report on these points in a truthful and easily understood manner. I like that and if I were to buy a trail cam I definitely would check to see if you reviewed it and what you had to say about it before I would by it. Thanks for posting this and take 'er easy!!
This is my second year of owning 11 moultrie edge cellular cameras. Nothing but problems with them. Not receiving pictures. They are not user friendly. Have to go into the field to reset way too many times and that defeats the whole purpose of the camera. I watched a you tube video of a guy shooting his moultrie camera with a shotgun and that's what you have to do if you want to solve problems with the Moultrie Edge. Some of their reps are rude and some are great. This is just me opinion and review.
I have 7 of these and I have them all set to video. There is a clicking noise that sometimes pops up in video. Most of the time it doesn't bother the deer but occasionally they notice it. It's not a big enough issue to keep me from using the cams but I wish they fixed that. Also the audio is not that good but the video quality is great.
@mdees88 I had one that was the same way. It had a loud noise that sounded like a generator running in the distance, maybe interference or something. I've seen guys with videos of deer spooking from the clicks. I returned mine because it wouldn't trigger like the first one Dave got
Yes I notice the clicking and so do the deer. My videos are not downloading and they make me drive 100 miles for a manual reboot. I bought 11 cameras and pay over 100 dollars a month for subscriptions but they refuse to work with me on the $350 I lost on manual reboots.
I like mine for the most part, but a con to me is the delay between pics... there's too much gap... goes from 1 minute to 5 mins, nothing in between... I like to run mine on two minutes and have that ability on my other three cameras, but not this one... just my opinion
I love my MOULTRIE edge! I’m not a hunter these days or anything but I just set it up in our yard and I put a little bowl with a tad bit of cat food to see what happens. I would like to see some cool animals come. So far the camera has worked perfectly. The image isn’t the crispest as the top of the line cameras but it’s good enough, and I don’t live in the middle of the woods but I’m close enough to get deer, Racoons, cats, whatever. The camera seems to function fairly well in that it doesn’t trigger too easily or not enough, and the quality seems good
I was leaving to go buy these before I checked the plan prices. Cost more than my cell phone which is ridiculous. The fact that each camera needs its own plan is insane. Then the month to month is another 50% practically over annual. Just a rip off.
@@cincyfan80 Yes, per camera for standard, which only allows 10 videos a month so idk about you but I want 10 videos per week at least. Price jumps to 12.99. Then there's a plan for 22.99 and 7.99 for every additional camera. so if you have 8 cameras we are talking almost $80 per month plus tax.
From Zero to Hero and then back to Zero. Videos are not downloading. I have my cameras 100 miles away and Moultrie wants me to do a manual reboot on 2 different occasions. So we're talking $75 worth of gas on each trip and a half day of work on each trip for a total of $350. I'm not counting the time spent on hold and talking with customer service on the phone calls. Customer Service is not working with me. Won't even give me a credit on my subscriptions. So my review of the camera gets a big fat 0.
Yea for someone who walks way out into the woods on public to get a camera I'd have to have an SD card. No offense to Moultrie, but it makes you wonder what kind of hunters actually make these cameras. That's a total deal breaker for pretty much every public land hunter I would think. Great follow up review!
Why is it a deal breaker for public land hunters? It texts you all your pics and videos. There's no need to go to the camera and physically swap a card. All your pics and videos are available for download on the app on your phone.
@@mdees88 I get that, but I would assume like most cameras it's not HD on the transfer to your app. The other thing I thought he said which maybe I missed, was that you have to download them individually. I would prefer to download all the pictures and videos at one time. Maybe I misunderstood him. But if the Hunting Farmer says it's a negative and he's using it on his private property, it seems like for public it would be that much more inconvenient... at least for how I like to use the pictures and videos. That's my take anyway.
@@PBAdventures146 It all boils down to your end goal. If you goal is to collect and store as much high quality photos and video as possible then a removeable SD card is a MUCH better choice. If your goal is to unobtrusively record deer in a remote location and you really only want high quality photos and videos of certain deer (bucks), then these cameras work great. The photos you receive on the app are decent enough quality to tell what different bucks you have. You can download the hi-res photos but they are only slightly improved. You can also select as many photos as you want and download them all in hi-res without having to download each individual image like he was saying. You can click select all and download all photos at once if you want.
@@PBAdventures146 When it takes a vid it saves an image of the vid (so you can see the animal in the vid). You can only download videos one at a time, like he said. But you only get 10 video downloads per month, then $1 per 50 vids after that. Even if your camera takes a couple hundred videos in a month, it only charges you when you download one. So I only download vids of things I'm interested in. On public land this is a non-issue because you're likely only getting a dozen or less vids a day. Just download your videos every day it takes very little time and effort. Plus on public, no one's going to steal your SD card (though they night steal the whole camera). If you have it on private looking at a bait pile and you're getting a hundred videos per day (and you want all the footage) then a removeable SD card is a lot more practical.
You can upload videos off your phone to UA-cam and for you to do that many steps to upload your trail cam videos is your fault. I edited and Purdue videos all the time off my phone and upload them to my youtube all the time.
Moultrie edge sucks. Mine barely picks up deer. I get pictures when they are right there and I get pics of half of a deer after they walk by in full frame. I have been on stand and had deer right there and it will not pick them up. The app is also garbage too. Would never buy another one. I have it set up properly and have been running trail cams for 10 years without issue until now.
I had a similar situation this past week. I called customer service on Sunday they determined there was a problem with the camera and sent me a UPS label. 2 questions
1. Can I cable lock the Moultre is there anyway to lock it up ?
2. the photos and videos go to the App - do I get an alert ?
Great review, thanks!!! I've used Moultrie for years, and I look at customer service as a Top Priority, and they are second to none!!

Brother...is this moultrie edge only usable in USA and Canada?
I've bought it for Bangladesh in Asia from china. Can't I use this in Bangladesh?? It doesn’t connect to the app.
Unfortunately I’m not sure what their compatibility in other countries is? Sorry
For the price of these cameras ($72 on Amazon as I type this) you cannot beat them!! Good review 👊
What a great price. I bought most of mine 2 for 150. They're not perfect but you definitely can't beat them at those prices...
That’s a great price 👍
I have a Moultrie edge I like it pretty good. No major issues with it so far 👍

I have a faulty camera, so how did they go about transferring the plan you already paid for to the new camera?
I have 12 non cellular Moultrie cameras. I have lots of SD card issues. So last year i bought a 2 pack of these edges. Price was good at $179 for the pair. Had a very hard time getting them activated. Had to call cust service and manually activate. Cameras worked good and am still on original lithium battries. Great customer service is what we expect for buying their products. At least courteous conversation.
You’re right! Thanks for watching 👍

@@PBAdventures146 Video is different... I'll explain.
Thanks for the advice 👍
@HuntingFarmerOfficial your very welcome sir. Great video by the way and I guy picked up two of these trail cam.
Sounds like it's a great camera for people that want to hunt and not make UA-cam videos.
This is true! 😁
Thanks for watching 👍
Moultrie edge sucks. Mine barely picks up deer. I get pictures when they are right there and I get pics of half of a deer after they walk by in full frame. I have been on stand and had deer right there and it will not pick them up. The app is also garbage too. Would never buy another one. I have it set up properly and have been running trail cams for 10 years without issue until now.
Customer service goes a long way. GoPro could take a lesson from them.
You’re right! Thanks for watching 👍
A goat head .? And a 5 point star on your shed. Seems kinda sus guy
I appreciate you watching 👍
I don’t like that I need a subscription to operate it. Big con for me.
Monthly fee are not for everyone. Thanks for watching 👍
Especially, not expecially! Con!
Thanks for the correction! I’m glad you were able to decipher what I was trying to communicate 👍
Land your plane man. Your complaining about boomer issues with software.
I appreciate you watching and for the constructive criticism 👍
That's Moultrie. Nothing but problems with them for over 10 years. Don't know why I keep trying them.
I appreciate you watching and sharing your experience
Videos not downloading for me. They tell me to drive 100 miles for a manual reboot. No complimentary compensation for the time and money I am losing.
