It's such a bummer that you were forced to upgrade in such a rushed manner.
I also come from a very hot country and you can tell that most computer hardware just isn't engineered to handle those kinds of temperatures.
BTW if you're looking for an all-white workstation laptop, other than the x16 (which comes with a black deck), I recommend you check Lenovo's Legion 7i (2024) in white, it's just 👌🏽

      @@malbeldesigns Hey Malak!
A small update/Errata: I was looking into Lumion's suggested systems and they strongly recommend a RTX 4080 and up class GPU. The Lenovo I suggested isn't an option as it tops out at a RTX 4070, so not good enough.
Another thing: I was reading the comments here about the crashes and the instability you've experienced and, I think that while Alienware is fine hardware for its intended purpose (namely gaming) I do think you should be looking at a workstation class laptop; more so than a desktop + laptop.
It's more expensive than a gaming laptop but build quality and thermal engineering is substantially better (Morocco ready for sure!). At least you can rest assured that it will work as flawless as possible (within Windows' constrains). Plus if there is any problem you can count on Dell to bend-over-backwards to fix your issue (they do have amazing customer support in the US for their professional products).
For a professional that depends on her creativity like yourself I can imagine just how disruptive it's to have your flow interrupted by a blue screen or a crash. What you save in the laptop you lose in productivity and client acquisition.
I would recommend you take a look at Dell's Precision range of workstation laptops. Particularly the Precision 5690, it's 16-inch, slim, has a OLED screen and battery life that is miles better than the Alienware's and can equipped with an RTX 4000/5000, which are the workstation equivalents to the RTX 4080/4090 respectively. Workstation class GPUs use drivers specifically tailored and validated to work well with profesional software such as Revit and Lumion.
Other benefits include less fan noise. I was watching your video about floor plan design and, oh boy, do you hear the fans when these kick in as you show the spaces lol.
      Hope this helps!

For me as video editor and a tech enthusiastic, Alienware is like my dream when I was boy. Sick design, High Performance but very expensive...But now, Alienware is just a name now...Their quality drop back time to time...Speacially the software and bloatware issues are common...These problems are the reason why I have droping my old 2018 Alienware M15. Now, we have a lot of choices...For me, I'm using the new Legion 7i 2024...Really love it since I bought it. All white machine, Nice specs, Good screen, Ports and Nice cooling. You can check out that one if you want to replace your Alienware.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say, it's probably Alienware that's the source of your bluescreens cos maybe I'm just lucky with my systems but they hardly get BoS , they do but not the point I'd get paranoid

Just fyi geek squad are not the best people to get a pc looked at or even building a pc. I understand you were in a pinch though. Also have you considered getting a cooling pad that your laptop can sit on? Will add more bulk though. My personal opinion, in your line of work I would also have a desktop. Heat is a really big issue in powerful laptops for these types of applications. Also remember your fans they are pulling in air including the dust, hence the buildup.

      @malbeldesigns  3 місяці тому +1

Oh really!! Where do you think I can find someone to build a reliable desktop? Regarding the pad, I didn’t mention it in this video (but I mentioned it in my original review) I do have a laptop pad. I never use my laptop directly on my lap to not block the ventilation but you right a cooling one might help for sure.

@@malbeldesigns I know you’re not going to like this answer but try building your desktop yourself.
You could even make a video if that interest you.
Again I know you don’t have time but if you can fit some free time watch some videos. It’s very freeing when you build your desktop. On the plus you have room to swap out parts (ie ram, gpu etc ) should things change.
As far as pc repair it’s tough it’s like finding a good honest mechanic.
I don’t really have the best answer because it depends on many factors out of your control: honesty, integrity, real knowledge of said product instead of bs. Perhaps someone can chime in on pc repair alternatives.

Sorry to hear that Malak. I was thinking you upgraded to the x16 since I remember you wanted the white one.its their higher end laptop and smaller charging brick. Yea alienware computers is good I still have my alienware r11 desktop. Had some issues. But I did a factory reset and working good as new. And I actually hot me a macbook pro 16 with m3 max chip it's crazy because I alwase used windows I actually hated on mac. But big reason why I got it is for the battery life. But thing is I can't use vm ware to install virtual machines on it. So I just ordered the alienware m16 r2. I use 3ds max for 3d modeling and rendering and no available for mac. But couldn't return that mack because missed my 2 week returning windows.. I'll see how this m16 r2 handles 3d because it has a 4070. If not I'll return it and get an x16 with 4080. But I loved the razer blade I had with oled display. I messed up by selling it and getting the macbook pro. Regret it but what's done is done. Macbook is good on battery, though, so I can code or design websites on the go no worrying to find a spot to plug it.. the reason why I decided to get the the m16 r2 over x16 is because on x16 you can't upgrade the ram. 32 gigs of ram is the max I need at least 64.and I tried looking for x17 on alienware outlets they only had one but had a 3070ti.. I don't know why alienware downgraded of screen options. The x17 was 500 nits of brightness . And the x16 and m16 have 300 nits. They need to step it up.they are falling behind on screen options..

One thing I would recommend is if you're going to a hot country with the Alienware it might be a good idea to invest in a EGPU setup for over there. What that will do is reduce the heat the laptop as the laptop graphics card won't be doing any work while giving you the performance you need for work. Also whenever you need to render something do during the night as it's a lot cooler then.

@@malbeldesigns Any Thunderbolt 4 EGPU system will work with the M16 - you do lose some performance for the GPU because it's not connected to the motherboard directly if that makes sense. The main thing you need to consider is which GPU you want and if it will take full advantage of your laptop. For example the 4080 Mobile you have in your M16 is around 50% slower than the 4080 desktop version. Lumion do confirm in their online documentation that EGPU is supported in their software but you can lose up-to 30% of the GPU performance.

@@malbeldesigns Yes but thats because they just make good solid computers. Alienware is too focused on gaming and looks, its mostly marketing hype. Really its overkill for your designer needs. I'm a Designer too of the graphic and web type, so Photoshop and other RAM hungry apps are the primary concern. You can easily get away with 16GB Ram and 2.3Ghz CPU for almost anything except Video editing or rendering. Although your software needs a good graphics gpu, still Alienware is WAY overpriced for your needs at $5,000 😳 I'm pretty sure you can find/build what you need for a lot less maybe $1500-$2k. Acer, Asus, Lenovo and Dell are the most RELIABLE, although maybe not cute like you 😉But seriously they work well when equipped right. Blue screens (BSOD) are rare these days, but definitely need to be fixed ASAP or it just keeps happening more and more until one day your pc wont boot up! 😦Luckily only happened once to me and was able to fix it myself, but only after tons of research and troubleshooting with software. Usually the BSOD is a sign that your MBR (Master Boot Record) is corrupted and needs fixing ASAP. 👉Thats why I highly recommend you use a good free pc maintenance software weekly, like A.S.C., Glary Utilities or others to keep it running good. I would fix and resell the old Alienware to a Gamer and reinvest in a better brand for later. Good to hear you dont put laptops on your lap (even tho they call em laptops) as they get superhot and can burn.

You ignored blue screens though. They're not to be ignored. Always take it for servicing or check up when it happens.
Gaming laptops aren't macbooks. You can't use them off their chargers and expect great battery life or performance on your bed. You should've gotten a slim high performance laptop, like the Samsung galaxy book 4 ultra or something.
Big chargers come with gaming laptops cause gpus need big power. The 4080 in your laptop probably has a tgp of 175 watts. So big chargers are needed.
