That looks like such a fun event. The gift your partner made was stunning. He is so skilled. Tomorrow I hope to attend my first SCA event should the weather keep fine.
Love seeing different re-enactment perspectives and events. You've made me very interested in attending some SCA events. Glad you had a wonderful time! Be safe and amazing.
Ravens fort was a ton of fun! I didn't even realize you were filming although I did see you around while serving entourage for her Majesty. I wish you could have caught their majesties archery with the glitter eggs though. His majesty hit 3!!!
The work your partner did on the laurel is fantastic. Did he also make your laurel wreath? It's always lovely to see how other Kingdoms do their events. :) I'm glad that you had a great day. Yes, the early leaving for a daytrip is always fun. I sometimes think that I do more for my "hobby" than I do for my work.
Right? He worked so hard on the pendant. He didn’t make my wreath though, it’s just a glittery costume thing, but it goes nicely with the Byzantine bling.
Had to laugh. Our two sister traditional archery clubs are 4 hours drive away here in Tasmania, so I know those early morning drives. We get up and leave at 5.30 to be there 9.30 and start shooting at 10am. So much fun wearing traditional garb and doing traditional archery. We don't shoot with crossbows as you require a special license to shoot with those in Australia. You have to register with the police as it is classed as 'a weapon' versus sports equipment. I sooooooooo wish I could transport the hubbie and I (dressed up of course) to these events around the world. What a great way to spend the day. Thanks for sharing with us.
Looked to be a great event. I hope you had a lovely time. We had our Crown Tourney the same weekend. Our event was about 40 minutes away, but we still 'raided' our local coffee shop. They are rather used to us showing up in garb. :)
I hope you had fun! Also the trim on your yellow dress is so beautiful. Nice to see some fellow mobility device users in the crowd too... Gives me some hope that I might be able to join similar events someday...
I'm a wheelchair user here in New Zealand, and have found the support from my local SCA (Southeon Gaard, Lochac) to be amazing. They have done everything they can to help me participate. I hope you find this for yourself someday. -Erin in NZ
Thank you! It was an embroidery project from a long time ago. Accessibility is a mixed bag in the SCA to be honest. There are groups that prioritize it, and are super accommodating, and some that don’t see it as a priority. There were huge problems with Pennsic’s accessible transportation this year. I would reach out to your local chapter (or event steward) and ask what their policy on accommodation is.
I absolutely love your embroidery standing hoop. I would love to have one. Is it a large quilting stand that you are using? If it is than I could have 2 uses for it. Quilting and embroidery.
It’s specifically for embroidery but I suppose you could use it for quilting if you were creative. It’s the American Dreams system, and you can find it on my Amazon storefront linked in the description if you want to take a look at it.
Would you mind giving a little bit of information about your wreath? Is it a mark of rank or achievement? It looks like a great time; I hope you were able to stay cool.
It is! So the SCA recognized achievement in various fields at different levels of mastery. The highest achievement is a peerage, commensurate with knighthood. The laurel is the peerage of arts and sciences (research and making), so I’m basically a Knight Artisan.

Did you have fun?
Well, how was it?

Thank you for sharing - looked like a great event and a good time! 😊. Hope we get to know more about the item you were embroidering.
Don't worry, there will be a video eventually!
Yay a vlog! It looks like it was fun!
❤️ so glad I got to see this. I just moved away from Ansteorra and it was lovely seeing so many of my friends 😊

I’ve handed out many an sca business card to baristas.
@@OpusElenae We have too. I've also tailored my 'elevator speech' to about 30 words. :) If they haven't glazed over, I continue on from there.
Really fun to watch this as I'm writing a packing list for a Belegarth event I'm attending next weekend.
What a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing your event.
Idk why I was shocked pikachu face on seeing myself just ✨vibing✨ as if I wasn’t fully aware of what you were doing all day. Hahahahaha
Did you think I was filming just for fun?!
The event looked wonderful! Are you making the clouds and stars embroidered jacket?
I am not, but well spotted! I'm making a coif based on the pattern from that jacket (there will be a video eventually).
Was that Tessa of the Gardens, who was forever the Baroness of Bordermarch? It warms my heart SO to see she who praised my shaking knees!
It was indeed! Tessa is a dear friend and we love spending time with her.
@@OpusElenae I was so delighted by her that I wrote a sonnet! My knees shook less than many because my kill was with a ballista!

Oh she cried. It was beautiful
