If you put the fill end on a cinderblock or something to lift it off the ground the sand will slide to the other end making it easier to fill the whole stand without having to stop the fill process, if at the right angle.
For some reason, I cannot seem to find a dry enough consistency of sand. I went to home depot and got the quickrete 50 lbs play sand. But it still seems moist and clumps up. Will not flow thru the funnel by gravity.
Glad you found this useful. Evidently there are three haters out there that have better ideas...of course I never claimed this is the best way...just A way to get sand into a base. Good luck! Have fun! Be safe!
Im currently in this annoying situation! I also bought playsand but it is still wet and doesn’t flow. Why do they make the hole so flipping small?! I might have to just fill it with water
That certainly could work if you have a helper. If you’re on your own it may be difficult to pour a fifty pound bag of sand into that small and flimsy of a makeshift funnel. If you try it, let us know how it goes, that would be easier to make than what I suggested.
@@mz20874 UPDATE! It was a total fail...... LOL. I gave up, ended up putting only a bag of sand in and just filled the rest with water. They actually teach you online from Lifetime that to fill up the sand in the base you just lay it on the rim and the back end of the base. If I saw those instructions i would've done that but I was way too worried about the base not being able to be lifted back up when the sand was all filled.
Hi, sorry, just saw this. As it states in the description I used seven 50 pound bags of dry sand (or 350 pounds total). It's been two years and it hasn't tipped over, even in very strong winds. Read the manual for your basketball hoop set up to find the correct number of pounds for your setup.
The basketball hoop in the video is a Lifetime model (I don't recall which specific model though). Maybe newer models in 2023 come with larger fill-holes.
On my base there are two fill-holes, one in front and one in back. But if I recall correctly, I just tipped the whole basketball hoop forward to shift the sand from the rear of the base to the front and continued filling. You may want to get another person to help you with tipping the hoop forward.

Thanks for the great suggestion!
This saved me so much time. Thank you!
Glad it worked out for you (sorry for such a late response).

You may need some good vibrations if you have wet sand...check out this video ua-cam.com/video/TiFj3WkUJeo/v-deo.html
@@mz20874Thanks I will give it a shot later today

I know its been a year but filling it with water will damage the stand since it freezes and becomes larger inside the stand
Very smart, thanks!!
Awesome idea. Thanks sir! 👍🏻
I'm glad you liked it!
Wondering if anybody tried a 1 gallon milk jug. Thinking that might be a good way to get the sand in as well. Cut off the bottom part of it.

Thanks! This was a life saver! -Jermaine
Hi Jermaine. I'm glad this worked out for you. Good luck and stay safe!
How much sand did it take to fill it up?

Lifetime basketball hoop base has a much bigger hole, easier to fill.

How to get sand to front of the base
