Keiko Fuji She was once a Japanese enka singer. After getting married, she moved to the United States and gave birth to Hikaru. So Hikaru was raised in America. My mother knows when Keiko Fuji was active in Japan, and she said that Keiko was a good singer and a beautiful person. Unfortunately, Keiko has now passed away.
I'm Japanese. Japan has a lot of great songs, but it's a shame that each song is so short in this video that it doesn't convey their appeal. Especially from the 1980s to the early 2000s, there were a lot of great songs, from city pop to bands. After AKB48 came on the scene, they started including handshake tickets as a bonus with their CDs, and one fan would buy hundreds of CDs, distorting the music rankings.
All artists on CD since 2003, except for 2004 and 2007, are idol groups. They offered a special offer of a 10-second handshake if you bought 10 or more CDs, so it happened that one fan bought more than 100. Therefore, since 2003, actual popularity and CD sales are often not accurately linked. This ranking is probably made based only on CD sales over a year, which allowed AKB to run wild.
In my opinion as a Japanese, actually the songs introduced after 2012 do not deserve to be the most popular songs. Especially after 2018, the year LiSA and Mrs. Green Apple were active.
@@MrSpaceAngel Yutaka Ozaki was a very popular artist in the 1990s, but his popularity was limited to junior high and high school students at the time. This was because the main theme of his songs was “rebellion of the underage generation against adults”.

One in particular I remember was someone took dialogue and sound effects from the first DBZ Broly movie and re-created "Odoru Popokotin" haha! Edit: I FOUND IT AGAIN! Thank you youtube for keeping it around all these years: ua-cam.com/video/jlrRRen_C28/v-deo.htmlsi=1Kh0LiYI1xoEDAP3

If this ranking is based on CD sales, then frankly you can't take the popularity of idol groups like AKB at face value. Their enthusiastic fans continue to buy a lot of their CDs to help them succeed. Or to get the lottery tickets that come with the CDs to meet them in person. This trend isn't seen much these days, but I feel that at one time the Japanese music industry was quite biased. And while the old media was making money off idols, a new music movement was developing on the Internet. Kenshi Yonezu and ado clearly blossomed as talents thanks to these new movements.
4:16 "Oda... this is the launch of his career!" I don't know which Oda you're talking about, but this is a different person from Oda from One Piece. 🥺 (Of course, I know you're joking 😁By the way, the singer Kazumasa Oda was originally active in a band called Off Course since the 1970s. By the way, although both characters have the same name, Oda, the kanji used to describe the Oda in One Piece means "tail of a rice field," while the kanji used to describe the Oda in this singer's name means "small rice field."The 16th century Sengoku warlord Oda Nobunaga's "Oda" means "weaving rice fields".🧐
3:56 The song that surprised you so much that you fell back was the opening theme song for the TV anime "Chibi Maruko-chan," "Odoru Pompokorin."😊 The performers are "BB Queens," a comic band created for this song (the name is a parody of B.B. King), but the members, including the female vocalist, are usually bluesmen and club singers.🤭
Fun fact: the person who made the vid put the wrong song name for Dreams Come True. They weren't singing, love love love, they were performing, 何度でも. Which is arguably a better song.
Fun tidbits about AKB48: Through the years, they never really had the same members. There would be some girls in the group for like a year or two and they would "graduate" out of it, but they kept replacing girls throughout their peak years, so the 48-member group in total had more like over 300 some odd members in total on and off. Some would be just "trainees" and never get to be officially in the group. They'd also be able to send out smaller numbers of the group to hold concerts in different arenas over time, so like they didn't necessarily need to send all 48 members of the cast to go sing at venues. And, it spawned other similar groups like SKE48, NMB48 and HKT48 and more, all basing from different regions in Japan, internationally in Mainland China, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines and Malaysia. But AKB48 still dominated for many many years, the other groups just not hitting as high as the originators of the concept. Me personally, I liked SKE48 more as they sang more "adult" songs, not so sugar-pop or cutesy. SKE48 were the more "sexy" group.
I am Japanese. For sure the author of this video is giving too much priority to AKB48, no doubt they were very popular artists in the early 2010s, but since 2015 their sister groups Nogizaka46 and Keyakizaka46 have been much more popular. Besides, the content of this video is wrong now that King Gne, Mrs. GreenApple, and other band music are popular. There were many songs I did not know. At that time, Kenshi Yonezu got the most views on UA-cam in Japan. However, AKB48 had a system where members voted for their election from the tickets in the CD, so one fan could buy 100-digit CDs😂
The Japanese music industry was quick to label internet music as a "hotbed of evil where illegal copying is rampant," and was slow to enter the download sales market. At the same time, CD sales continued to decline and the industry was on the verge of collapse. It's true that AKB48 was the savior of the music industry with their successful business of including handshake tickets and popularity poll tickets with their CDs, but there are naturally arguments for and against.
Honestly Grandeur is a bop, one enjoys it when they just want pure hype for the finale. Black clover went out with a bang truly. Sorry Nick but it's Good 😌
9:29 "What happened to AKB in 2020?" To elaborate, the first reason for their CD sales is that many fans bought multiple copies at once in order to get the ticket included in the theater version of the CD, which gave them the right to shake hands and talk with the girls directly. In their heyday, CDs would be sold with one lead song once every three months, and each time they would contain other songs in addition to the lead song, and several different jacket versions would be released, but all of these would be counted as sales of the lead song. However, this concept of "idols you can meet" was slashed by a pervert at a handshake event held somewhere in the country every weekend, and the group's popularity began to wane due to self-restraint. The original members who had led the group's popularity since its inception graduated, and Yasushi Akimoto, who was the source of the idea for AKB's concept and wrote the lyrics for all of their songs, began to support a rival group, which caused a decline in popularity. K-POP has recently expanded into the world by imitating the "AKB business practices" that were widespread in Japan from the 2010s, but its true strength has been revealed after it was found to be fraudulent by Billboard.
Arashi is big, i remember watching Hana Yori Dango in 2008 and really like the opening then find out that one of the main actor sing for that band and ended up being a big fan of the group The song for 2008 was the opening for the drama Maou and one of the guy from the band play the main character. Then falling into the loop hole of watching every drama that band was involve 😂
I hope you are interested in Southern All Stars in 2000. They are a miraculous band that has been selling well in Japan since 1978. The vocalist is Keisuke Kuwata, and he continues to sell well as a solo artist.Experts say he perfected J-POP.↓Kibou no wadachi (Tracks of Hope) ua-cam.com/video/UK5xSs9jBlk/v-deo.htmlsi=D1Gs-FpLnn7HGX_q
3:49 What is this stage? I think it was probably a scene from a music program that was broadcast every week on TV at the time. At the time, the bubble economy was about to burst, and TV stations had money, so they would record on a different stage for each song.😊
7:50 "I can't see it 😵" Yes, when you went up to Donki in Akihabara, you had to look away from the posters of AKB girls in swimsuits at the bottom of the escalator because the AKB theater was on the floor above, right? 🤭But in Japan, as long as you don't stare, you won't be seen as weird. On the contrary, if you act flustered, you'll be seen as weird 😂
I don't even believe that akb48 dominated that much in the list through the years XD Cause Arashi is the nation's favorite jpop group Though happy to see Seishun Amigo by Shuji to Akira on this list... And I like to correct the list It's KAT-TUN that sang "Real Face" not SMAP The video that was shown in this list is just a collab between KAT-TUN and SMAP singing "Real Face" (Have been a fan of KAT-TUN ever since they debuted 😊)
On the oricon charts, they were always on top of the annual singles sales ranking, because of handshakes tickets they sold 1 million+ cds at the first week, or even at the first day, until covid 19 People were even complaining about it Arashi were also very high in the sales ranking but akb were always taking atleast the 3 first spots in the annual ranking before covid
2:53 "American names are so boring" Yes, there are 80,000 confirmed surnames in Japan.😅 Also, in the Banban song "Ichigo Hakusyo...", the "Ichigo" refers to strawberry. When written in ideographic kanji, BLEACH's Ichigo means "protecting one thing."
One of the reasons why AKB48 dominated the rankings was because of the sales tactics used by people to purchase multiple CDs in order to get the handshake event tickets that were included with the CDs, so it was not necessarily the case that they were at the top of the rankings that year solely because of the quality of their music. (From Japan)
6:56 "SMAP?!" No, this is an even worse mistake than when Utada Hikaru was called "Utadu" previously; they are "KAT-TUN."The name is made up of the initials of the six members who formed the band.🧐 Incidentally, they, SMAP, and other male idol groups such as Hikaru Genji in the 80s were all promoted by the talent agency "Johnny's Entertainment" since the 70s, and Korea imitated them from the late 90s to create the current K-POP male idol groups.😌
The UA-cam video producer brought only half-hearted songs. For example, don't write Seiko Matsuda's most famous song. I think there are a lot more good songs. But the producer of this video just put a bunch of songs from akb48.
Lol no folder 5 in this list lmaooo People don't even know about ready and believe by folder 5 what a great tracks for one piece Nick you should definitely check em out and specially check ready my folder 5 song from Jango dance carnival

およげたいやきくん吹いたww
The Japanese music industry was quick to label internet music as a "hotbed of evil where illegal copying is rampant," and was slow to enter the download sales market. At the same time, CD sales continued to decline and the industry was on the verge of collapse.
It's true that AKB48 was the savior of the music industry with their successful business of including handshake tickets and popularity poll tickets with their CDs, but there are naturally arguments for and against.
This is where they took over 7:33
Honestly Grandeur is a bop, one enjoys it when they just want pure hype for the finale. Black clover went out with a bang truly.
Sorry Nick but it's Good 😌
The 2010 Beginner song by AKB48 was featured in the AKB0048 anime as an OST.
9:29 "What happened to AKB in 2020?"
To elaborate, the first reason for their CD sales is that many fans bought multiple copies at once in order to get the ticket included in the theater version of the CD, which gave them the right to shake hands and talk with the girls directly.
There need to be a "pdf jokes" counter on nicholas' live stream brother, he cannot stop.
Arashi is big, i remember watching Hana Yori Dango in 2008 and really like the opening then find out that one of the main actor sing for that band and ended up being a big fan of the group
The song for 2008 was the opening for the drama Maou and one of the guy from the band play the main character.
Then falling into the loop hole of watching every drama that band was involve 😂
11:12 Number i of "GOAT" was made after three members of King & Prince left the band.😊
I hope you are interested in Southern All Stars in 2000. They are a miraculous band that has been selling well in Japan since 1978. The vocalist is Keisuke Kuwata, and he continues to sell well as a solo artist.Experts say he perfected J-POP.↓Kibou no wadachi (Tracks of Hope)

3:49 What is this stage?
I think it was probably a scene from a music program that was broadcast every week on TV at the time. At the time, the bubble economy was about to burst, and TV stations had money, so they would record on a different stage for each song.😊
I am touched by the music of the 90s in catchy and still remember it all the time. Mr. Children, GLAY, everybody including Namie Amuro are splendid.
1990 thats an super old anime song its about a little girl i think called maroco or sm
AKB48に一番食いついてるの、笑える
7:50 "I can't see it 😵"
Yes, when you went up to Donki in Akihabara, you had to look away from the posters of AKB girls in swimsuits at the bottom of the escalator because the AKB theater was on the floor above, right? 🤭But in Japan, as long as you don't stare, you won't be seen as weird. On the contrary, if you act flustered, you'll be seen as weird 😂
I don't even believe that akb48 dominated that much in the list through the years XD
Cause Arashi is the nation's favorite jpop group
Though happy to see Seishun Amigo by Shuji to Akira on this list...
And I like to correct the list
It's KAT-TUN that sang "Real Face" not SMAP
The video that was shown in this list is just a collab between KAT-TUN and SMAP singing "Real Face"
(Have been a fan of KAT-TUN ever since they debuted 😊)
On the oricon charts, they were always on top of the annual singles sales ranking, because of handshakes tickets they sold 1 million+ cds at the first week, or even at the first day, until covid 19
People were even complaining about it
Arashi were also very high in the sales ranking but akb were always taking atleast the 3 first spots in the annual ranking before covid
@Pompompopcorn yep i know that i was a fan before paruru's graduation (center girl of High Tension)
2:53 "American names are so boring"
Yes, there are 80,000 confirmed surnames in Japan.😅
Also, in the Banban song "Ichigo Hakusyo...", the "Ichigo" refers to strawberry. When written in ideographic kanji, BLEACH's Ichigo means "protecting one thing."
I’m Japanese but I’ve never heard of AKB48 songs in my life lmao
One of the reasons why AKB48 dominated the rankings was because of the sales tactics used by people to purchase multiple CDs in order to get the handshake event tickets that were included with the CDs, so it was not necessarily the case that they were at the top of the rankings that year solely because of the quality of their music. (From Japan)

The fact that Gackt, an insanely popular J-rock artist, was nowhere on this list, makes me angry.
That title is incorrect; it should be "Annual Sales Champion."
I've been a fan of AKB48 since 2010. I disagree that their songs' popularity peaked from 2010-2019. In my opinion, AKB48's peak era was 2010-2016
CDの売り方が卑怯だったとはいえAKBが人気だったのは事実ですよ
2014.2015までは人気だったねそれ以降全然人気じゃない
AKB48 legit owning Japan for an entire decade
6:56 "SMAP?!"
No, this is an even worse mistake than when Utada Hikaru was called "Utadu" previously; they are "KAT-TUN."The name is made up of the initials of the six members who formed the band.🧐
Incidentally, they, SMAP, and other male idol groups such as Hikaru Genji in the 80s were all promoted by the talent agency "Johnny's Entertainment" since the 70s, and Korea imitated them from the late 90s to create the current K-POP male idol groups.😌
昔の曲どれも聞いた事あるけど、その時代を生きてるハズなのに後半の曲聞いた事ない
もうCD売り上げ=人気じゃないんだよねー

When it comes to Ayumi Hamasaki I feel like "July 1st" over "M" or "voyage" was a criminal choice lol weird-ass list overall
Holy sh't! Hikaru Genji and AKB48 supremacy on Nick's video 😂
Bro 9:52, Tenth_Recal said "Diddy" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The entirety of the 2010s : this band
握手券とかでアイドルが独占した認識であってるかな?
saving this to know who to check out in the future haahah

The UA-cam video producer brought only half-hearted songs. For example, don't write Seiko Matsuda's most famous song. I think there are a lot more good songs. But the producer of this video just put a bunch of songs from akb48.
AKB48 is still making music. They're just less popular.
