Did you feel parking was an issue? Versus a taxi from the airport.
If you take a flight a taxi/Uber form the airport should work… I would suggest that you not fly in on embarkation day try to get it a day before. This will help to make sure there are no additional issues that come ip.
If you’re getting dropped off at the port, do you still have to go to the parking lot and buses?
When we went in a couple of months back that was the requirement. People came to the port anyway but I’m not sure how it was handled. I’m not sure if this is still the case. The one thing I can say with a absolute certainty is the Norfolk Port is consistently inconsistent. So pack your patience and watch your email. They usually send out information about boarding day as you near your sail date.
So once you hand off your luggage to be U-Hauled over, you get it back at the Port? I don’t trust them getting my luggage on after I saw a TikTok of luggage being dropped in the water at this port. 🚫

Yes, they take your luggage and then put it in a Uhaul and the Uhaul delivers it to the ship. This port has consistently changed course on how they do things. They’re trying to streamline the process and that requires many many changes. Also if it helps at all, they dropped the luggage getting it onto the ship. So it made it from the Uhaul safely 😬.
I would ensure my carry on had all the essentials and then trust the rest of the process. Also… This is only if you’re driving in and have to park. The buses are narrow and large suitcases won’t fit in your lap so they’ll make you pass it off to a porter even if you don’t want to. You can also look into what they allow in terms of dropping your luggage at the port and then going to park. They sent out some instructions right before boarding day so stay on top of your email so you can prepare for any changes. Let us know if you have any more questions and we’ll be happy to help. Co.
@ocoventures OK. I don't have a problem with the U-Haul portion of the luggage transfer but I prefer to roll it onboard with me. Are passengers able to get their luggage from the U-Haul at the port, or after the U-Haul drop off, you don't see it again til its delivered to your room?
@@tanyawilcox6805 If you hand it off to the porters you don’t see it again until it’s delivered to your cabin. You can carry all of your luggage on but getting it from the parking lot to the port is the issue, if it’s a large suitcase. The notice they sent out (May 23) said drop offs had to go to Cedar Grove Parking lot and ride the bus to the port but folks got dropped off at the port anyway. I’m not sure what happened….. if they made it straight on or were told to go to the Lot. IMPORTANT note…. When you carry your bags on you have to carry them around until the cabin is ready after 1. Sometimes they let you in early but be prepared in case they don’t. Or choose a check in time after 1:30 when rooms are typically ready and the doors open to the cabins. If you have priority your room “should” be ready when you board. Keep in mind this port has been consistently inconsistent…. So I don’t want to put a finite stamp on any of this because they change up so much.
More parking than Cedar Grove!!! Do your homework to find other parking for the cruise.
Great call out.. this may be true but when you call the City of Norfolk this is the only parking lot they endorse. I agree that everyone should research all the possible options

Online they say you can pay with credit cards. But be careful if you want to park at the garages near the port. There are signs that say no cruise parking and they will tow you.
