    We rented for 3 years and bought our first house after, that's the best investment we ever made. Now, we're both retired and enjoying our life here in Canada. This is our home now and lives happily with our family and our gandchildren that we love so much ❤️ ♥️. We travel a lot during winter, and Canadian here they love to travel too. So, if you're planning to retire in pinas , save as much as you can, cause once you get sick there, tiyak ubos yan.

    Buying a home is an investment in equity, home appreciates in value as time passes, you will reap the benefits in the future, once you retire you have the option of selling the property that will fund your golden years.

    I respect your outlook and decisions in life. I think decisions should be feasible at calculated, I also believe na pwede pa magbago ang future plans natin depende sa opportunity na dumating sa atin. Kung plan nyo mag stay for 10 years, personally I will buy a small property not more than $200K --- likely monthly payments mo around $1300-$1600 (tax, insurance, mortgage and utilities) na yan. Kung semi finished ung basement, pwede nyo ito ipa-rent from $700-$1000 all-in, atleast wala pang $1K babayaran nyo sa monthly expenses. Nasa Regina din ako, so mejo kabisado ko magkano taxes at estimated insurance na babayaran depende sa area, year ng bahay, etc. Tapos every 5 years ang renewal ng mortgage, may option ka sa to sell it at market price, by that time tumubo na pera ninyo. Yung ginawa ng Carino family, ideal yun na pina-rent nila basement to help out mortgage payments. Just my 2 cents lang naman, more power sa inyo. By the way, pwede pala kayo mag tour dito sa U of R, ako bahala sa inyo dito.

      This is the best suggestion. They are still young. Retirement in their case is 10-15 years away, sayang ang rent money that goes down the drain monthly. Dadong is a handyman, even a small property fixer-upper will do like what the Carino family did.

    Renting is like throwing away your money. You are basically paying for someone else’s mortgate. Mortgage na dapat sana pinambabayad mo na sa sarili mong property. Yes there are added expenses but property values rise and eventually mababawi mo din lahat yun or kikita ka pa once na maibenta mo na yung house mo. That will even work for you kahit na hindi kayo dito magreretire. Instead of saving your money sa bank para sa sobrang liit na interest, diversify your investments. Bago pa lang po kami dito sa Saskatoon pero we see how we are giving our hard earned money sa mga landlords na walang kahirap hirap magtaas ng rent. We are currently saving up for a downpayment para makakuha ng apartment or condo na same lang sa rent namin ngayon ang magiging mortgage payment. That way, walang masyadong magbabago aside sa magbibuild kami ng equity.

      May point ka If years ago ka bumili ng bahay. Depende din sa city, punta ka bc, ontario or even alberta. Iba presyo ng mga bahay ngayon. Yung sinsabi mo na rent vs owning eh yung kikitain ng bahay mo eh binayad mo lng sa property tax, insurance at kung ano2 pa. Kikita if ibebenta? What if hindi? Or cge benta then what? Bibiili ulit na mas mahal na?

      @@akio6505 it doesnt matter if years ago ka bumili or not. House prices were cheap back then because of a lot of factors, even the minimum wage is low a couple of years back. House prices are up today but unless you are a minimum wage earner, you can ask for a more decent salary to compensate for that. And I am talking about the situation here in SK, we live here and Alit Family live here in the province as well. I dont have any solid info about the situation on other provinces but what I do know is the property prices and rent are up everywhere. Property tax and insurance is how much? It is not as expensive as your mortgage. I did not specifically say na kikita ka if ibebenta mo yung property mo, that is why I said “or” but with all the expenses, renos, taxes, insurances, etc, break even ka pa rin. That is besides the fact that there is always an option to have it rented out or a portion of it if you have a basement. If you are renting and paying $1300 a month, in 10 years, that is $156,000 down the drain. $312,000 in 20 years not factoring inflation. Tataas pa ang rent so you are looking at a bigger amount than that. You cannot get the same losses if you put that in a property. You may have losses or not pero I can assure you na hindi ka magtatapon ng ganyang kalaking amount in 20 years if youre owning a house. And buying a more expensive house after selling is not a requirement. Nakadepende yan sa tao. Lastly, I have never heard of people getting rich by solely renting, personally. A lot of billionaires have real estate investments though. It is not that I am a millionaire or trying to be one but you get my point.

      Just check the situation now. How many people can afford a house or even come up with downpayment? It's the power to buy is limited now. Billionaires are billonaires so that means lots of properties and they can afford to lose some. 60-70% of your payments for the 1st 10yrs goes to interest. If a filipino couple's intention is to buy a house and stay there longer then sell it from $300k (purchase price) to say $700k when they get old.. just dont a quick math of 700k-300k. A retired couple who struggled to pay their mortgage now get the chance to enjoy his equity (after say 20yrs)? A wise renter can invest his other income and earn more. In the end, go for whatever best for u.. renting vs owning will be always a debate for many. Ask your friends in Ontario, BC, Alberta

    Ganyan din ang pananaw namin ng husband ko dati kaya nagre rent lang din kami before, kaya lang na realize namin, upa kami ng upa, nauuwi sa wala ang pera namin, tapos nataas din naman ang rent, kaya nag decide kami na kumuha nalang nga bahay, for investment, kase at the end of the day at gusto na namin mag retire dito or sa pinas, ibenta namin yung bahay may pera kami, kase nataas ang value ng bahay, good investment sya.

    At the end of the day, choice po ng household kung gusto bumili. pero financial wise, its good to get a house especially if you are in a peak of your career.

    Ganyan din po ang plano namin dati, mag rent, mag ipon at mag retire sa Pilipinas. Pero nung makita kong lumalaki na ang mga anak ko dito at pamahal na ng pamahal ang presyo ng bahay, naisip ko na kumuha na din ng bahay dito para sa mga anak namin. Aminin din natin mahirap din ang mag renta.

    Ok lang kumuha ng bahay sa Canada basta prepared ka sa lahat ng gastusin, hindi lang sa process ng pagkuha kundi sa pag mamaintain ng bahay na kukuhain. And dapat po affordable na bahay lang ang dapat kuhain. Mahirap mag bayad.

    Anytime is the right time to buy a house. Don’t wait for prices to come down coz it will never happen unless there’s a real bad recession. Real estate is the best investment you could put your money in. No risk of losing your money as the value of the property increases over time unlike saving money in a bank that earns a minimal amount in interest. Rent money is money you are THROWING away whereas all monthly payment on mortgage COMES back to you when you sell the property.

    ganun po ang magandang business dito,buy a house tpos parent ang basement,bayad na mortgage with their rent..same tayo ng mindset sa travel,travel while you can kasi aanhin pa ipon mong pera kung matanada ka na at di ka na makalakad ng matagal.. pera madaling kitain pero ang experience at relaxation when traveling is priceless..

    Ang ipon nyo po kasi pag mortgage na is yung bayad mo na sa bahay, hindi po masasabi na wala kang maii ipon pag nag mortgage ka Instead of paying for someone's mortgage when renting why don't pay for your own when you get a mortgage,if uwi na ng pinas puede mo ibenta or refinance para yun ang pera mo and asset because tumaas na yung value ng house mo after several years. just my opinion.

      Kalokohan simpleng buhay sa Pinas, kailangan mo duon mabuhay ka ng may pera at asset kami nga sa Pasig city me bahay kami at lupa pero never ako magreretire duon dahil ano gagawin mo duon pag ipon mo is for simpleng buhay saka ang bahay tulad namin binili namin ng $50000 ngayon $145000 na so Kung nagapartment kami nganga diba ,paano ninyo nalamang hindi nagtatravel ang mga Tao dito Alam ninyo ang mga puti mahilig iyang mga yan magtravel kaht gumasatos just for one week tulad namin two times a year outside winnipeg or canada huwag nating husgahan ang ibang tao dahil you just don't know ok

      Di ka naman galit nyan your so sarcastic, yung alit family kase yun ang gusto nila ang magretire sa pinas kapag kaya na ng anak nila mamuhay, alam naman nila capacity kung kaya nila or hinde wag ipilit db, malaki ang responsibility kapag may mortgage ka then isa lang ang nagwwork katulad nila si dadong lang nagwwork gets mo, simple lang silanh family masaya na sila sa magigibg farm life nila sa pinas, pwede ren sya magbusiness ng woodworks sa pinas handyman ganon! Kanya kanyang lifestyle yan, tama lahat ng sinabe ni dadong kapag retirement mo na gusto mo na umuwe sa pinas ipon lang ng matindi at umuwe ng pinas

    Alit family, may mga Canadian din na mahilig mag marites..Dito sa area namin sa Gatineau, Quebec, 10 kaming seniors na marites..Pag summer, inaabot kami ng 1-2 hours na tsismisan (kahit ako lang ang Pinay), kahit winter marites din pag shovel time...May coffee and cake or wine for each other's birthday..Ang pinaka grabe, sinasadya pa ako sa backyard pag gardening season..

    totoo yan... iba iba ang tingin ng tao sa pagbili ng bahay... pag takot ka sa maintenance at di ka handy, mahirap talaga kasi ibabayad mo kahit simpleng problema lang... at yun nga ang daming attached na expenses bukod sa maintenance like taxes insurance utilities etc.. etc.. on the other hand, some people look at it as an investment.. imagine kung binili mo yung bahay for 300k tapos naisipan mong babalik sa pinas for good after say 5 years... usually mabebenta mo yan for a much higher price, say 400.. hindi naman bumababa usually ang presyo, laging pataas... so kahit kwentahin mo yung additional investment like repairs, usually tutubo ka pa rin... it's not for everyone though kaya kanya kanyang desisyon lang yan.

    Same tayo ng point of view sa buhay dadong and rose kapag nasa abroad ka ng matagal ng panahon gusto mo talaga sa Pinas kana magretire lalo na at simple life lang ang gusto, isa nalang naman yung anak nyo na pagaaralin kapag kaya na ni Denise at may sarili ng buhay its time na talaga for you to go home and pabalik balik nalang ng Canada or magtravel sa ibang bansa for leisure❤

Sa ngayon po mas marami na pong foreigner na mas gusto sa Pinas. tsaka karamihan din ng mga matatanda dyan d nakakalabas lalo na pag winter.Maganda lang pakinggan ang Canada or ibang bansa. maganda din po nahulugan nyo po yung SSS nyo dito sa Pinas at Philhealth kasi mslaking tilong din po. yun kasi yung narealize ng Tita ko na nasa ibang bansa. Maganda din po nakumuha kayo ng health card sa Pinas.

    Why looking forward retirement, what do you you can get your retirement in full pag nasa pinas kayo ,maintenance ng bahay I can't relay on that owning your own house before you buy dapat renovated na .your unreasonable about canada ,me ipon na ba kayo ewan ko why stay here kung iba pala ang plano ninyo walang simpleng buhay sa pinas kailangan pera pera

    Tamang diskarte yan, ang pagbili ng bahay ay hindi para sa lahat. Kung magreretire sa pinas, mag set up kayo ng retirement acct. IRA or Roth IRA.

    Sinong kukuha ng bahay dito na di magiisip ng mga cons
    Dameng option madam kung sa maintenance lang po kahit hindi ka handyman
    Una bakit ka bibili ng bahay na luma na ang bubong luma ang furnace at water tank
    Kaya nga may inspection bago ka bumili😂
    Imagine living here in canada for 20yrs? Renting talagang thankyou thankyou ang landlord kase kayo na ang tumapos ng mortgage nila

    mas maganda pa rin kung makakabili ng bahay. it's true mas maraming gastos ang may sariling bahay compare sa nag rerent lang pero after long years, mas marami kang maiipon.
    like in my case, after 10years of mortgage, yung equity ko sa bahay is more than all my expenses in the house that includes down payment and all the mortgage payments combined. kaya mo bang makaipon ng $700k in ten years? yan ang naipon ko sa pagkakaroon ng sariling bahay.

    Kami mag asawa wala na din kami balak bumili ng haus unless tumama kami sa lotto :) dalwa lan nman kami ska enjoy na lan namin buhay namin kesa bumili ng sakit sa ulo ska un iba namin kilala na bumili haus d din nman nila maenjoy un haus kc need nila magtarbaho ng 2 jobs just to pay the haus... ok na kmi at least d namin na experience na magdoble doble work.

    real talk lang. sa PI. panay away ng politiko at mostly corrupt. mahirap kumita kaya kahit sino na lang gustong umalis. tawag sa ofw bayani dahil sa remittances. mahal narin ang bilihin kung wala kang $$$ paktay na. try muna kung balak magretire. good luck sa inyo sa PI.

      aree..kung wala lng kurakot sa pinas baka mas mayaman pa ang pinas kesa sa singapre..sa dami ng skilled na pinoy na ibang bansa ang nkikinabang kasi di maganda ang kita sa linas dahil sa mga corrupt na officials..

      kung walang corrupt dapat mas nayaman pa ang pinas sa singapore sa dami ng skilled worker na pinoy na ang nakikinabang ay ibg bansa kasi mas maganda ang sweldo at benefits..may corrupt din dito pero hndi sobrang garapal tulas sa pinas..

    Sa ngayon parang mahirap makabili ng bahay dahil sa sobrang mahal at interest rate mataas din sabay pang nagmahal ang mga bilihin dami ng ngayong foreclosure dito sa Vegas kasi mostly mga bahay ngayon nasa $600 K na then interest rate nasa 7.5%
