Speed is for sure important, but part of why football is so interesting is because attributes are used tactically. For example, you might have a small, technical, quick guy who starts the game for you, but later on you might sub him out for a more physical player who isn't as fast but gives you more of a threat in the air and can bully defenders around. Every position can be played differently based on the attributes of each player.

Some incredible athletes, but none of them come even close to Michael Owen in his prime. His own physiology couldn't keep up with how fast he was. I hope you guys react to his lethality and speed some day.
Of course that being athletic is important, most in a professional level, but I can't explain how many time I have seen overweight people doing amazing stuff on the field. And a great example of a pro who does/did this is Sergio Busquets. The guy didn't move that much, but his intelligence and technique were key for Barcelona.

What we saw in the video are boys sprinting after they knocked the ball few meters and more away. George Weah could keep the crazy speed and the ball was never further than 2 to 3 feet away.
To put this in perspective... 100 meters dash WR is 9.58 sec I think. The most famous clip from 1996 shows George Weah doing a coast to coast run, ball at his feet, dribbling half the enemy team and score with a placed shot in approximately 12 seconds. That's how fast and how good he was.

In football you don’t really NEED speed either. Your team can play really good passes and move up the field like that. That’s why there’s so many different kinds of players in football. For example, some strikers may be fast and decent at finishing (shooting), while some may be slow but can put the ball in the back of the net every time. It’s a lot like basketball except I think there’s MORE archetypes of players for EVERY position because there’s 11 players and positions on the field, instead of 5 for basketball.

I think what’s beautiful about football is that a footballer comes in all shapes sizes and different physical and technical attributes. It’s not like in the NFL where you have like your front line has to be huge. Or your Rb has to be a fkin machine built like a brick wall while simultaneously running 100 meters in 10 seconds or in the NBA where if you’re below 7 ft, you’re a midget. I can’t think of a single genetical preposition that would make you unable to become a pro (aside for disabilities) It’s all talent, hard work and intelligence
