I have two sisters that live in Seattle and there actually is a restaurant named that in the city. It appeals to both migrant workers that pass through (although some stay) and the large Asian community.
I never realised how many times these were mentioned in the show 😳 you really do know your Frazier sir...& it is well received by all all Frazier fans👍
My favorite scene from this compilation video! And adding a bit more from the transcript. 2:20 Niles: Cancel the Millennium! "Chez Henri" has burned down! Frasier: Burned down?! Niles: Yes! Apparently, Henri was caramelizing a huge crème brûlée in the shape of Puget Sound, when a sugar spark ignited a thirty-foot paper maché "Space Needle." They're already calling it the worst centerpiece disaster in the history of Seattle. Frasier: Henri built his reputation with that caramelizing torch. My God, the irony of him burning down his own restaurant with it. It's worthy of "Oh! Henry." Niles: "Oh! Henri." [laughs]
It is strange though it has actually been a popular name for French restaurants. Nowadays, one of the best restaurants in Montreal is called Au pied de cochon.
Half the fun is translating the restaurant names. La Chanteuse: The Singer Le Cigare Volante: The Flying Cigar La Goulue The Glutton Dos Burros: Two Donkeys Campagne: Campaign Quelque Chose: Bite Au Pied du Cochon: At the Pig's Feet Le Petit Oiseau: The Little Bird Les Habitants: The Inhabitants Couer de Singe: Monkey Heart Petite Auberge: The Little Inn Garagiste: Mechanic Cucina: Kitchen
Oh, you forgot the restaurant that the brothers destroyed and the chinese place with the crispy egg rolls that Roz was confident would sue after Bulldog's racist promo!! LOL
The French restaurant names are not that jokey; they're just pretentious sounding. "Campagne" is Countryside, "Quelque chose" means Something, "Au pied de cochon" means At The Pig's Foot, "Le café du paradis" means Heaven's Café, "Le petit oiseau" means The Little Bird, "Les habitants" is The Inhabitants, "Coeur de singe" means Monkey Heart.
The adult woman is a P.E. teacher whom Frasier was dating at that time. One day he dropped by at the gym she had class in and witnessed her to be quite stern with one not very athletic and slightly fat girl. This triggered flashbacks in his mind of this own unhappy P.E. classes from his schooltime and ever since whenever he was with this P.E. teacher, instead of her he saw his burly, middle aged, hairy, cigar smoking P.E. teacher which was especially hillarious during romantic and intimate scenes. After a while she noticed his discomfort and so he explained it to her, mentioning how un-athletic he was during his childhood. She in return explained to him that kids need a bit of sternness otherwise they'll never push their limits. This confession helped Frasier and he no longer saw her as his burly male P.E. teacher, but unfortunately it had the opposite effect on her: from that moment she saw him as this slightly fat "wimpy" girl from her class. Which is what this scene depicts.
The not-english names are all quite ridiculous. From the pig's foot, the flying cigar, the garage operator... like little easter eggs from the writers.
i love occasionally escaping back to the 90's.
I lost it at Senor Jose Phong's Home of the Sweet and Sour Taco. 🤣

Sweet and Sour Tacos sound like an awesome idea.
Seems like Chez Henri overcame Le Cigare Volant as the top restaurant in Seattle during the second half of the series
I appreciate the subtitles marking each restaurant. And Hooter's is finally open!🧐
I never realised how many times these were mentioned in the show 😳 you really do know your Frazier sir...& it is well received by all all Frazier fans👍
RIP Chez Henri
Long Live Chez Henri!
@Eric Sowder it was his chez away from chez!
You mean:
Chez Henri est mort.
Vive Chez Henri!
Home of the sweet and sour 🌮...Priceless!

I think he meant "worthy of O. Henry."
It’s still too soon to joke about that
Chez Henri certainly saw a lot of service in the second half of the show.
Frasier started a petition to shut down a Pizza Hut just because he could see it from his condo and not his precious La Cigare Volant?
Papa John's is better anyway.
I'm glad that Le Cigare Volant made a comeback in the later seasons, I was affraid it got completely abandoned in favor of Chez Henri.
Hilarious that the fancy French restaurant for which Niles makes reservations with Daphne translates to "The Pig's Foot." 😂
Maybe a truffle pig that is served with truffles. ;-)
It is strange though it has actually been a popular name for French restaurants. Nowadays, one of the best restaurants in Montreal is called Au pied de cochon.
@@linuxtuxfriend9155 Trotters and Truffles..
Perfect timing for a keen bean like me. Boom
That's alot of fancy restaurants for one City
This is my very favorite show I sure enjoy it a lot thank you I'd love to see a full episode🥰🤗🌹🕊️💚🙏🙏😇🌎
Chez Henri really made a comeback. It's like an O. Henry story. O. Henri, if you will.
I didn’t remember chez henri but who can forget le cigare volant
I hear their Grand Marnier soufflé is the best in town
Not as good as the eels at Les Freres Heureux
Great list!!!
Thank you 😁❤👍
I made sweet and sour tacos the other day. They were awesome.
i stg i *gasped* when i first realized stefano’s is the same set as the restaurant kramer goes to in the summer of george-
Le Cigar Volante is the Casa Bonita of the Frasier universe
This is masterpiece thank you so much
9:00 Fun fact, one of Carla's innumerable brood once worked at Burger, Burger, Burger in Boston

Is part 2 of Niles caught with Daphne coming
It definitely is, but I have a bit of a backlog of videos that I'm trying to get edited and uploaded.
@@parafrasier thanks
@@parafrasier the community appreciates you 🙏
I'm glad you're making these videos as well as the time and effort you have put into them. I'm happy that Frasier is getting a revival series as well.
No mention of Ausini's...the episode they actually bought a restaurant!
Does Seattle even have these many fine French restaurants in real life?
Oh, you forgot the restaurant that the brothers destroyed and the chinese place with the crispy egg rolls that Roz was confident would sue after Bulldog's racist promo!! LOL
They're both in Part 1: ua-cam.com/video/TFXrtwbGZm8/v-deo.html
Do ANY of these places actually exist in real life?
Just like with every other location in _Frasier_ ’s Seattle, Chez Henri and Le Cigare Volant are pure fiction.
Cafe Nervosa was the Elliott Bay Cafe which is a real place.
@@RaymondHng Well, with the exception of Pizza Hut, Burger King and the Hooter's by the airport.
I am not very good at French, but some of these transliterations pique my interest. Shouldn't it be "Le Cigar Volant" not "Le Cigare Volant"?
Unfortunately he never went to Anthony's Home port Restaurant.
Chez Henri is quite the place.
I wish you would give the English translation of the French restaurants. I can figure the rest out myself.
Google
Chez henri just means “at Henry’s” and “Le Cigare Volant” means “the flying cigar” :]
@@laurens740 thank you 😊

What cigar in the name of the restaurant,oh that’s always a good sign of a quality restaurant

Why not the restaurant that Frasier and Niles bought? "IMMIGRATION!"
It was in Part 1: ua-cam.com/video/TFXrtwbGZm8/v-deo.html
I'm more of a Mahalo Valhalla fan myself.
Their Coconut Herring is fantastic.
You and me at a fancy French restaurant??
Kinda gay!😆

I've heard that "The Pig's Foot" (in various variations) is a common name for French restaurants.
