- This covers an easy way to S Rank Mission 19 as well as gives a guide on fighting Vergil as Dante on DMD. This was my hardest project as well as my longest one. So please leave a comment if it helped you out.

A few kicks with Balrog breaks Vergil's guard, think the weapon may have been designed as a direct counter.
Well the description did say it had staggering kicks. Not sure if their intention was to leave behind keywords in their descriptions. I dunno, maybe it's just me.
Shotgun shot while airborne also break his guard,
Summoned Sword (Sword Master) + few of Dante sword also break it (but has a chance to fail/Vergil broke the attack)
RG's release will also break V's guard

Perhaps this thread can become more beneficial to add how Nero can break Vergil’s guard before the parry, as Nero has limited options to work with if you want to save a D-Breaker for a more opportunistic time for a combo. Vergil will parry most of Nero’s sword attacks so I only found out a few tactics like
- Full Exceeded Double Down
- DT activation (breaks guard & propels Vergil in the air
- D-Breaker exploded (sacrificed)
- Overture uncharged (not tested but likely since rapid-hitting or stagger attacks break his guard)
- Punch Line; shot then remote detonated (not tested)

The way Vergil says "interesting" after finding out that Dante also has summon swords is oddly endearing
I'm so glad Vergil's DT doesn't heal him as it did in 3, in 3 he could get pretty much 40% of his health back in dt if you let him.

Yeah but you could just use DTE to cut most of the DT short. Usually by the time he DTs again you’ve built the DT yourself to DTE and hit him once to pop his DT.
Tbf, when he does a super move you basically just have to take it.
Another good way of stopping the circle of swords when Vergil is flying is to swap to balrog and jump, the "attack by jumping" skill clears the entire circle

I just destroy them with DSD's Swordmaster Summoned Swords.

I usually cheese the doppelganger by running around while dodging and holding the swordmaster style button for the DSD round trips
Royal Revenge deletes the Doppelganger in one shot
I did vergil in dmd yesterday and never block the sword s with royal guard... why you ask... because the best way is to just block them using roses XD

Super underrated ability, especially since those couple bars of DT are trivially easy to get back with RG and it does a ton for your damage, mobility and defense.
Why not just use devil trigger ? I never understood the purpose of that ability

Awesome video. I now know why I didn’t get S rank for Faust, I was hit by a summoned sword. I always equip Balrog with Faust but now I’m going to do with DSD.
Also great trick using trickster to go through JC and close the distance. And I now know what I need to do for phase 3 which is where I basically lost no matter how good I played earlier.

What i do, is the moment he DT's, i spam Round Trips. Unlike Punch Line, i have seen him block them like twice in over 20 fights on various difficulties. They actually deny the entire DT healing (even on DMD) if they keep connected (that's rng on what moves he uses and how far he teleports around) and very few times i have seen them stagger him in DT, letting me hit him with a stinger, but nothing more. In phase 2 (don't use them in 1, since he has opening after every move) if you send them in the proper time, they will stunlock him after every move, giving you more openings. Best moment is when he is doing the Rising star + Judgement Cut spams, because the spinny bois stunlock him in the air (send them in his DT during that move as well, since he is standing still and they gain high uptime). They shred his clone as well, killing him in 10-20 seconds, depends how much he teleports.
Also, it's hilarious to turn around and see him stunlock dancing the moment he kicks out of DT.

The hard way because I simply always enjoy the fights against Vergil too much :D And your easy way would, at least for me, feel like cheating (no offense though! It's more of a personal taste). Balrog kick mode combos also break Vergil's guard pretty well. No need to spend DT there.

Worth noting that jumping with Balrog destroys the swords instantly, and a shotgun blast can delete most of Vergil’s spiral swords with little commitment

Man Vergil kicked my ass on Son of Sparda difficulty, I raged quite a lot before I managed to beat him. Still, I’m eager to attempt the game on DMD and hopefully lay him to rest once and for all
Man... So many moves and fighting styles I barely use with Dante. It's insane. He's the character I'm the worst with. I'm doing okay with Royal Guard in this fight, but I seriously lack variety in my attacks. Not to mention I use about 1/4 of his insanely vast move set.

An update just came out and Vergil got some new patterns and playable (on pc) Vergil got some new attacks too.
Fingers crossed for Vergil DLC at E3.

@@conqvistguides7313 Only saw few gifs in thread on reddit where he cancels judgement cut and helm breaker.
From my experience of fighting him post update I noticed those changes:
- he uses teleport into air judgement cuts really often now (I think air JC were only part of his other patterns before)
- in phase 2 he can use flight attack multiple times per battle and royal release doesn't knock him out of DT on second and following uses
- he can use judgement cut end with summoned swords active around him now.

After watching you and Smvr beating the crap out of vergil with royalguard and then finally trying it myself I was absolutely floored that I managed to land perfect parries on most of his moves despite it being the first time I'd tried RG for real. I'm awful at timing so if I can land a bunch if perfect parries on his summoned swords judgement cut and basically all his phase 1 moves ANYONE can do it.

I’m fully convinced you have a mod installed that just gives you automatic perfect guarding. I know that’s not true but I can’t find any other logical explanation 😅😂

Another way to deal with blistering blades plus heavyrain blades is Break Spiral with Balrog Kick mode
But you need Ignition on
Or else the blades will go through
- There's no step by step way to do this (without the hat). It's Vergil.

A faster, simpler way to deal with Storming Swords/Blades is to simply have Balrog and short hop
As long as you have that move where your jump deals chip damage while Balrog is equipped
I've been fighting vergil for a whole day, seriously TF, he was easy to beat in the first difficulty but the second is a lot harder. Sigh. Thanks for the video, it really helped

Getting no damage legit is easy until the fucking Clone comes and you really gotta time when to kill his ass. One good DT stinger will finish his ass though. The best method I've found is attack him when he's far from Vergil and after Vergil is finished attacking RIGHT away.

Spiral swords can easily be dispatched with the shotgun
And always trickster dash when he teleports after gettint spiral swords because most likely he will teleport right next to you, instantly fragging you with the spiral swords
Me: tries using faust cheat
Also me: fucks up completly and wastes 300,000 orbs then dies
My strategy for Vergil's doppelganger is that I taunt him right before he summons it so that he taunts me back, which gives me enough time to deal with the doppelganger when Vergil doesn't bother attacking

RHN is the most powerful attack of Faust, the one that uses like 100.000 Orbs.

anyway, taunting at him causes him to taunt back at you, buying time. Usually in DMC3 I interrupt Vergil during Judgement Cuts with gap-closers such as Stinger or Air Trick + any air attack. Ye Olde Air Hike + Killer Bee never failed to counter a single Rapid Slash/Stinger
because Cavaliere has invincibility frames during flip animations (such as Full Throttle and Wheelie Jump), this can instantly shut him down mid-Judgement Cut, and even fully counter JCE with the right timing, plus Rapid Slash, and Stinger with good distance control
also usually in DMC3, Air Tricking directly through his Rapid Slashes is dangerous unless you immediately jump after or were directly right in his face. Air Tricking through Stingers is safe, but do time your next strike well or he'll punish you quick

Why not just use swords formation instead of DT. Gives the same summoned swords for everything u do and all of ur styles. Only takes 2 bars and still gives you that badass base form against base form until he SDS.

My only problem with this Virgil iteration is that he is a bit too passive and predictable for my taste, I wish they mixed up his sequences a bit more.
So another way to take down the Doppelganger is to use DSD's Summon Swords, the Round Trips move, it'll lock him so you can focus on getting out of the way of Vergil (or Royal Guarding him)
during the easy method, when you say" quit the application" you mean "abbandon the mission e restart it" or " close dmc 5 game and restart it " ?
Close the game and restart it. Abandon mission or retry mission will save the orbs you wasted if it didn't work, where full closing the game suddenly will keep them.

How many red orbs did you use to charge ?
It looks like 150k but I might be wrong about that(might be reading the number wrong by adding a zero or something). Look at his red orb counter after he does the attack, it shows how much red orbs he loses.

What I can recommend regarding Vergil's doppelganger is equip Dr. Faust and hold the shooting button locked onto the doppelganger and it will be dispatched promptly.

theres a risky method to clear doppelganger if you royal revenge right after vergil spawns it, the dopple will do a rising slash and get revenged and dies but you'll have to immediately trickster out of there since vergils also there. only doesnt work if vergil decides to do a rapid slash
Completely unrelated to your strategy video (which is AWESOME btw. =D) but I notice that Vergil says "Eliminate all!" when using JCE in your videos, however for me and most other people I saw online he says "Slay All". Is this a region thing? somebody else notice this??

I would say try again, the meteors are a little random and sometimes he won't take the full damage if they don't fall the right way. Also make sure you have above 150k orbs so it isnt hitting a cap lower than that. Try leaving DT on during the meteors. dont remember if that will up the damage but can't hurt to try.
@@conqvistguides7313 ah, well I just beat the game but didn't use the Faust method, I did farm using Faust to to stock up on gold orbs, I had 15 then I fought Vergil using trickster to dodge his attacks, Nero felt so off fighting Vergil for me bc I felt robbed of the trickster ability to close the distance, but I managed
During the clips of RG examples, Dante's stance doesn't change yet each block looks to be perfect, even during the ones when getting hit by circle Summoned Swords or Doppleganger + Vergil attacks - don't you need to press the style button in time (which changes Dante's stance/animation) to get a perfect block? Am I missing something?
Yeah im getting some perfect blocks. What im doing is holding the button down and when an attack comes, I release the block then press it again to catch the hit for a perfect block. I do this because if Im really late or early in pushing the button, the normal guard will catch the hit. The frames where I can mess up and take a clean hit are much smaller.

4:50 I'm surprised this move didn't just deplete your dt instantly. I still don't know how people are able to block perfectly in quick succession. I usually just trickster away when he does that.
