When fishing above weed, heavy silt and other debris it is vital to have your bait popped up off the bottom, a perfect visual aid for hungry carp.
Create this simple pop up boilie bait at home with off the shelf supermarket ingredients and some added cork balls for fail safe ultra bait buoyancy.
Pop up baits have taken the fishing scene by storm but can come in a bit pricey due to the craze. Some are made with buoyant ingredients, however I have found that even branded carp pop up baits fail to float after only after a short time underwater.
It only seems right to start making your own fail safe pop ups in batches ready for your next fishing trip!

Can you use the dragon boilie recipe for pop ups by adding the cork ball cheers
Instead of cork balls and boiliing. Simply use the dough, roll out the boilies and microwave for 20 - 30 seconds.

Anyone can make a pop up with cork balls but how about making an actual base pop up mix like mainline Polaris but homemade that would be a pop tutorial worth watching

you can also put them in a microwave and cook them for 30 sc see how hard they are if the are not hard enough put them again for 1min if not enough put them for another 30 sc

could you use cork dust in the mix? if so how much would you add?
Yes you can, I would think 3/4 of a cup of dust would do it. Best thing to do is add the dust to the dough and then take a small ball of it and place it in some water to see if it floats. Once happy then go ahead and cook the baits.
I've tried making home made boilies. how do you stop the flavour and colour washing out in the boiling process?
try putting them in a frying pan mate. shoreline baits does this and its way better

+Matthew Leonard I have but it is very hit and miss. Some float some dont :) Also I find that it drys the bait out too quickly.

this is only easy if u have the items in your household
i found there's not enough lime in the mix
+VINNY PRICE You can get away with adding a lot more lime to the mix as it depends on how much juice comes out of each fruit. Just use your judgement for best results.

How does the fish crap the cork out if it eats it ? I’m sure it would get stuck in the fish and kill it. Not a very good outcome
If you just make them as normal but roast them they will become semi buoyant WITHOUT the cork !

They don't eat the bait as it is used on the hook and it won't come off for a fish to eat it
@@lewinvizard2256 I’ve finished for over 50 years and I know all about hair rigs. They do eat it sometimes and the cork WILL kill them. Roast the boilies in the oven to make them float

Well duh, anything will float wrapped around a cork ball. The recipe is completely arbitrary.
