that is a beautiful piece of work. would be so proud to have designed it and see it finally finished, and it's just so many little things and brilliant. runner wheels, lifters, move-able turn-tables. amazing.
BPW is very popular in Australia for Trailer axles (Regarded as one of the best). Western Star's are imported, Kenworth are built locally in Melbourne. We have a good variety of European trucks as well.
Man, that is so freaking COOL! I've got a fascination for novel construction equipment, and I've NEVER seen this before! Really good! Informative, too!
Imagine the design brief: Here is a blank sheet of paper - design a self loading extendable trailer. Just where do you start? How many prototypes did this take? I'm impressed!
@Tobadforya the clip has been sped up cos it takes a few minutes to unfold, have a look at the truck exhaust rise and faall as the engine works the hydralics, this is a brand new combo in the film, look at the truck, it is older
Advantages: Lower Tyre Wear, better fuel economy, better manoeuvrability when empty, extra weight on drive when empty for better traction getting back into the bush, treated as a general access vehicle when empty so is not affected by road train restrictions of daylight operation and scholl bus time restrictions that apply in Western Australia.
Not construction equipment, Scout - this is some serious logging equipment! :) The second trailer is used only on the forest roads as well as the first but the second is used only on the roads!
the process of it unloading would take around 5 mins, then another 5 mins to load it.... this video has been speed up to make it look like it unloads fater than it really does. but still it is great engineering and i can see it would have its benifets. nice vid
pezzza16 - thier not available in north america ,thier from new zealand the cost not made public ,so i guess the only way to find out to just buy one :(
I wouldn't say the USA is behind the world in technology. They make the best and most reliable trucks and engines. Kenworth over here is #1 seller in class 8 and outsells Volvo 2:1, the next competitor. But in Australia we're a long way in front when it comes to trailer technology.......as you can see!
Is BPW a common brand of trailer axle in Australia ? You use American trucks, but European axles: Most American trailers have north american axles, the Europeans dont sell in America and Americans dont sell in Europe, it seems.
That would never work in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest of US and BC. Too big and long. Pretty cool arrangement though if you do have the space.
that is a beautiful piece of work.
would be so proud to have designed it and see it finally finished, and it's just so many little things and brilliant.
runner wheels, lifters, move-able turn-tables.
amazing.
there actually is an even longer version of this truck/trailer, too . Looks awesome.

Great way of carrying your second trailer to the forest no need discontent great idea wish as kiwi thought of this .
Very nice is it an RC or a reel truck if it is an RC how big is it.
And runs de truck on an electromotor.

I understand the how, just not the why. What advantages does this have over a non folding/stacking rig?
Asside from being well cool of course.
@Tobadforya the clip has been sped up cos it takes a few minutes to unfold, have a look at the truck exhaust rise and faall as the engine works the hydralics, this is a brand new combo in the film, look at the truck, it is older
@camaro8020 logs, but could loose the upright log bunks and modify to take containers maybe???
Advantages:
Lower Tyre Wear, better fuel economy, better manoeuvrability when empty, extra weight on drive when empty for better traction getting back into the bush, treated as a general access vehicle when empty so is not affected by road train restrictions of daylight operation and scholl bus time restrictions that apply in Western Australia.
Correct. Elphinstone use BPW as standard on almost all trailers.
WOW MEN INCREDIBLE, is R/C??
great piece of kit and you don't even have to get out of the cab!
I like how even the mudflaps are cut out to fit the lower trailer
To bad they wont make that legal in the US. What is the legal weight limit on that setup anyway?
nice one how coem u aint got the triple trailer one ?
wow!! amazing is an understatement.. you aussies have some of the best road train and the coolest rig too. ;)
thts crazy lol, does it pick up your shopping from tescos as well???
amazing trailer ...how much is it??
very nice idea
it saves a lot of time when returning to the forest to get more wood less weals faster moving around
very nice gadget
I'd go along with that. BPW are the best, I've got a Barker trailer with York axles and a Southern Cross with BPW and the BPWs never give any trouble.
Not construction equipment, Scout - this is some serious logging equipment! :)
The second trailer is used only on the forest roads as well as the first but the second is used only on the roads!
This is all controlled from the drivers cab via two simple switches. Chain is driven by a hydraulic motor to load and unload the trailer.
Since I know next to nothing about this I have say that's quite nifty!!
Trailer complete with Truck equipment, slider, 5th wheel scales etc is approx AU$250,000.00
how come is it when the truck reverses the trailer light still works
is this real truck or Rc model because those white sticks look like plastic but not so sure looks real:)
were do u go to buy these awesome trucks
is this a model or the real thing?Hard to tell.
What scale is it looks pretty real
now is this areal truck or an rc truck
the process of it unloading would take around 5 mins, then another 5 mins to load it.... this video has been speed up to make it look like it unloads fater than it really does. but still it is great engineering and i can see it would have its benifets. nice vid
Prices start from AU$120,000. This complete rig without the prime mover was AU$250,000
wow, amazing. is this already out there on the roads? or its still a prototype?
i would luv to see that up close, it really is amazing
pezzza16 - thier not available in north america ,thier from new zealand the cost not made public ,so i guess the only way to find out to just buy one :(

Are those BPW axles and suspension I saw there?
It is real. Carts logs 6 or 7 days per week in Western Australia.
There is an endless chain running through a hydraulic motor to slide the trailer up/down. I am sure there is nothing like it in the US
Elphinstone also have this type of self loading for B-Double and B-Triple
Actual load time is 2-1/2 minutes. Same for unload. Video was sped up to make it more interesting.
Is BPW a common brand of trailer axle in Australia ? You use American trucks, but European axles: Most American trailers have north american axles, the Europeans dont sell in America and Americans dont sell in Europe, it seems.
is for trees?
is that price for the RC model or a real life truck? :O
thats just for the trailer system right? 120 sounds too cheap for tractor and trailer. I dunno about AU$ but my volvo 730 tractor alone was $165k.
How much time does it take in regular speed?
Actually $120,000.00 for the base model. This unit is 27.5 meters long.
Used in a different area that the triple is not allowed in.
is that real or a rc truck?
Brillante idea,un ROAD TRAIN que se plega y despliega.
How incredible is this!
Can be shipped however I do not think your road rules will allow a vehicle of this combination
how much cost this truck.please respond
Is there a film or a video of when itś loaded ?
holy cow... this is really impressive..
This is not a RC model. This is a full size working truck at 27.5m Long and when loaded has a Gross Weight of almost 80 tonnes (80,000kg)
AU$250,000.00 which currently is approx US$230,000.00
this is a model right?
Really just one switch to Load/Unload. The only other controls are PTO engage and a slider lock for safety.
nah. the US only has the dollies and the short trailers due the te fact of road and weight limits.
were did you get it?
cable or chain pull the trailer
what is it used for
how would someone get one???
Awesome truck and a nice technology for other countries ;)
Brilliant engineering!
It has currently done 2.5years work and looks the same when washed as when it was delivered.
That's like what...a 42 wheeler? Awesome.
No, as it does not meet the bridge formula's. Also would not be practical for log lengths or maximising payload.
Yes it is running at about double normal speed.
is this an animation
Basic road train units start from AU$120,000.00
oh wow! i thought it was a toy until it got up close!
AU$120,000 is approx US$108,000.00
is this RC or real
I love the way everything is so perfect
is this RC or reallive ?
how much is that in american dollars?
It's real - the only thing that's remote controlled is the trailers!
It is pulled by an endless chain via a Hydraulic motor mounted in the front.
This thing is absolutely amazing!!!
That would never work in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest of US and BC. Too big and long. Pretty cool arrangement though if you do have the space.
This is a full size working truck at 27.5meters Long (270ft)
it looks like a toy?
No animation. It is video of the real truck.
It takes about 90 seconds for the whole process
justngoes to show that Aussie engineers are somr of the best in the world
It is a real truck. 27.5m long and when loaded weighs approx 80,000kg
ok wow that is seriously high tech.. but yeah most places in canada wouldnt work out well
The Engineer who designed this needs a pat on the back
very cool, america will never have stuff like this because of our regs.
nice trailer should tell us that vid is sped up
what scale is this
omg i though it was a rc first cuz i was looking at rc trucks and then i saw this and i didnt know it was a real truck until the end of it.
@1969fred omg this is a real truck?!
every time i see these they look kooler and kooler
wow thats amazing the unit looks like it a mile long lol
Currently used in Western Australia just south of Perth
