I don’t care about water dispensers and frankly I’d rather not have one. So I don’t care if it’s in door or not. I filter my water in other ways. Actually having it inside will help hide it and keep me from having to always tell people not to use it 😂. I just want a basic no frills fridge that reliably keeps my food cold but in a French door style. Good to hear LG has improved their compressors after the class action lawsuit. My Frigidaire has given me nothing but trouble for the last 8 years and ready to move on to a different brand. Thanks for this review, very helpful and I feel more confident. My only other question is does this fridge have a door alarm? The only “fancy” feature I care about.
I am with you! We have a distiller and was tired of cleaning the water/ice dispenser area all the time.
You don't like the water filter and you like the door alarm... I didn't think I'd ever find my exact polar opposite but here I stand, corrected. Honestly though, the US, for all their issues, has the greatest municipal water system in the world and it's not even close. Tap water is perfectly fine.
Thank you for this. We have a tiny U-shaped kitchen and need a smaller profile/counter depth kitchen to have any chance at floor space. Replacing our broken fridge has become urgent and yet the amount of information is overwhelming. I appreciate your legit reviews because too many online written reviews are paid promotions -- can't trust those!
How much clearance does this require against an adjacent wall? The install spec is missing info
Hi, thank you for the review. What is the name of the compressor? I couldn’t hear it and do I have to set up the ice filter at all and the water dispenser for the first one? Or can I just make my own ice?
Very helpful...............still deciding if we want to go with the counter depth
Great video. I just subscribed. Question, you said if something is "next" to it, the door may or may not open? did i hear that right? i have an oven and a handle on the oven, i just don't know if the door will "bump" the handle when i open it? do you have any thought on that? my current whirlpool does not hit it. it just hinges correctly and not to the side so it's kosher. just wondering your initial thought on that. thanks again
As always Steve, great job, great video, and great education.
Glad you enjoyed it
Good info. Thank you. Please speak louder and more clearly sometimes you fade out a bit. Will look at your other related videos as well.
Which drawer is the high and low humidity crisper drawer?
Would I be able to put this fridge 1" from a wall. Would that be enough room for the door to open up? Or would the door rub the wall?
So I just got this fridge and when I open the door the door cooling plus feature is not blowing the cold air down like it is supposed to. I don't see any icons to turn it on and off so it seems faulty to me. Does anyone have any feedback on this issue
Your review clinched the deal for me. A few years ago, I bought a KitchenAid, and it's been nothing but trouble. Lovely to look at, and I like the features -- but is always breaking down. So no more fancy for me! I ordered the LG. Wish I could've bought it from you!
Good Call
But isn’t LG fancy?
All LG counterdepth max fridges don’t have the horrendous linear compressors. They all have a smart inverter compressor which is their conventional compressor
So, what does that mean?
@@vienna844 Theoretically: quieter, more energy efficient, and more durable. Assuming that there aren't any design flaws. This seems to be the second generation and seems to not have the worst flaws of the first generation of inverters. But, we'll find out for sure by 2035
Most people say run away from LG because of their linear compressors, they're bad. What's your take?
But what did they change to make linear compressor more reliable? And will they sell replacement compressors? CBC Marketplace here in Canada says that new compressors are not obtainable
Good points
I saw one of these at Home Depot. They now come with a sticker inside that is a legal notice that buying their product is agreeing to arbitration for legal disputes, meaning you cannot sue them. In other words, don't buy their junk.
Thanks for the great video! One follow-up question. You mentioned a thicker door. How much thicker is it then other countertop depth refrigerators? Thanks again!
About an inch...
What do you think of LG's newly released LRYKC2606S counter-depth max model which not only has the regular space plus door ice maker, but two additional ice makers located down in the freezer: craft ice & a mini cubed ice. LG boost that this model make make 4 different ice.
Oh boy...I like it if it works.
Could you review the LG MoodUP fridge? thx
I can't wait.....
Considering this or the Bosch b36ct80sns. I under dual vs single compressor. which do you think would be more reliable over the long term? I can see lots of value in this lg fridge but im scared of the inverted linear compressor failing/giving us issues. What did your real life service call data show?
LG is more reliable at least in the first year
Been loving your videos but I'm outside the area you serve. I like the simpleness, space, and price of the Max. Currently see a deal for $1750. Do you see is going lower this year or is that a good price? Thanks!
Wait for a holiday....only way to know
Costco for $1499 until 3/26/23
@@stdesy just ordered mine coming Friday 🙌
@@fatboypup78how is it now? Good to buy it. I’m planning to buy one LG counter depth 36 inch
Don't get me started with LG fridges, I bought a side by side in late 2021 and every time we went to replace the water filter, the new filter would never go back in because of a faulty design with the teeth that hold that filter. I had to replace two water filter assemblies in less than 12 months under warranty. I ended up selling it to my in-laws and transferred the 3 year extended warranty to them. In about 5 months from now, I will find out probably with an irate phone call if they suffered the same luck as we did. I have high water pressure coming into the house from the city, it may had something to do with it, who knows. My other LG appliance are good though, just the fridges still have issues.
Refrigerators from all brands seem to have issues as a % these days
@@YaleAppliance1 my old fridge was a GE side by side and it lasted for 15 years without one service call and it’s still working and my new GE fridge has not one service call. Keep making these great videos.
Is there any way disable the beeping? Just had one of these units delivered today and it keeps thinking that the door is open. Looks like they will have to send a tech after troubleshooting with LG on the phone. So far no good.
Omg really
Why anyone would buy a fridge w/ an in-door water / ice-maker is beyond me. You loose storage, add points of failure, and are almost guaranteed service problems.
Couldn’t agree with you more. And it’s almost double the price of the cheapest one lol makes no sense
Do we know if there will be a counter depth max version with the addition of the convert drawer?
Not in the short term.
Where is Yele appliances?
Based in Massachusetts.
In business Everything is a Service. When you buy a refrigerator, the refrigerator is the tool that the seller (company) uses to provide the service of reliable cold food storage.
In this regard LG and Lowes have completely Failed.
The LG refrigerator we bought from Lowes never worked right from the start. Lowes referred us to LG Customer (NO) Support. They made multiple appointments (not all kept) and replaced the compressor and a logic board, but the refrigerator side of the device will still not work. Now this two month old refrigerator is providing even worse Service than the Poor Service it was providing when it was delivered.
If you value Service, save your Grand+ by not buying an LG and don’t buy an appliance from Lowes (their appliance support policy is the worst).
I bought a similar model 8 years ago, and it broke, with a repair bill exceeding the price of a brand new one. A $2500 refrigerator should last more than 8 years. I will not buy an LG refrigerator again. The two service companies who looked at my unit recommended GE or Whirlpool.
Unfortunately, that seems to be true of all brands of refrigerators these days. they all seem to have 7% or so bad units, no matter the brand. I'm just hoping that my new refrigerator isn't in the bad unit category.
LG has a very hard time designing their appliances.I will never have another one in my house again.
You didn't answer the question
Refresh my memory....what was the question
Isn't LG really bad?
LG and Samsung refrigerators are nothing but trouble.
Unfortunately, my shopping reviews seem to show that you can rewrite that as:
Modern refrigerators are nothing but trouble no matter the brand.
DO NOT buy an LG refrigerator. It's a #>&$!÷% nightmare!
