  • I love seeing the bootleg toys and action figures in the Philippines when I go to visit family. I always bring official and cool toys to give to a lot of kids there, but I shop for funny bootlegs for my own amusement and collection. I bought a big light up Superman as well as everyone's favorite swordsmen from Avengers Endgame... Zorro?!

    Til this days, as a filipino, i still dont get why every bootleg figures would have those lights on their chest. Can someone ask me what's the purpose of those??

    • @MBXfilms
      @MBXfilms  7 місяців тому +3

      I think kids love to have a feature in their toy, so it's an easy one to add, and maybe started when Iron Man was the most popular character.
      And action feature like punch or kick takes special parts, but the light is just a bulb and battery inside.

    • @MBXfilms
      @MBXfilms  7 місяців тому +2

      @user-so4yg6ug2m They are fun to see. They just make them for kids only so they don't put in collector level effort making them.

      I've seen a few official toy stores in malls, but they are over priced and OLD stock. That's why my side mission here is bringing some cool official toys over for the kids in my family's area. Not collector stuff but at least official and characters they know...unlike Zorro...

    I remember visiting the Philippines when I was 5 years old, and I asked my aunt for a Batman figure. It was the most bootleg Batman figure ever, but it was huge and absolutely loved it for some reason lol. That was also the same time I discovered the Famicom. My cousins would ask me if I wanted to play "Family Computer" I'm like WTF is that? Then when we played it, it the original Famicom which I knew as the Nintendo Entertainment System since I was from America.

    • @MBXfilms

      I wonder if they were more sturdy back then, but the bigger size would help it be fun and last anyway. It would be cool to see now because of all the Batman movies back then. Can you remember which would have been the latest at the time?
      I did bring some Game Boy Colors on our last visit to share some retro gaming; it's surprising they had some form of NES there back then. My wife said her family didn't own a TV for quite a while there!

      @@MBXfilms For me, it was around 1989 at the time, so the Batman I had was based off the first movie Batman I think. It's like those big Marvel toys you'd see in Target today, only more hollow feeling lol.
      That's so cool you brought some Gameboys for the kids. Hopefully they liked those as well. Yeah, I think only one of my cousins had a TV and a Famicom at the time, so it was a rare thing indeed.

      @@shiningwizard327 Perfect Batman hype time, always probably why every pedicab has the Bat Symbol on them still.
      And Tetris and Super Mario Bros. still appeal to kids today, their two favorites.
