Dinesh K. Kalra, M.D., MBA, FACC, FNLA, FSCCT, FSCMR, FAHA, FASPC, Professor of Medicine; Chief, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine; Vice Chair for Quality; Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Innovations; and Director of Advanced Cardiac Imaging, Lipid Clinic & Infiltrative Heart Disease Programs at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, presented "Management of Dyslipidemia in 2024: A Case-Based Approach" at University of Louisville Department of Medicine Grand Rounds on March 7, 2024.
Dr. Kalra's talk focused on recognizing common and uncommon lipid disorders in the clinic and when to refer to a lipid specialist, learning how to use non-statin, lipid-lowering drugs in the optimization of cardiovascular risk, and appreciating new advances in the field targeting other lipid pathways such as ANGPTL3, CETP, TRLs, and inflammation that potentially offer additional avenues to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction and cardiovascular death.
