Maybe you could improve energy efficiency by joining several of the wagons together, then you could power them from a single unit, and since battery technology isn't very good maybe you could use an onboard generator or overhead wires...
Ahhh, yes, The Pods, the universal transport solution. Now, let me suggest some improvements: At first, for ecology and cost reasons, remove batteries from pods and make a electric rail or wire. The next step is connect pods to chain for more compact and safe transit for long distances. Then, for more optimisation, it will be useful to remove electric motors and cameras from pods (now let call them ContainerPods) and create another class of units with powerful electric motors and control computers, let me call them PodMovers. PodMovers also can have different power for different cases: weaker ones can move ContainerPods inside terminals, and powerful units can move chains of ContainerPods between terminals. Oh, wait...
It would be so much easier developing a battery locomotive than a autonomous wagon... the amount of level crossings these things are going to set off is going to make it ridicous. it would be best to combine them all into 1 long chain and have 1 motive power unit at the front hauling it... oh wait that sounds like a train... 🤔

LOL... Reinvented again.. ua-cam.com/video/YUpST_cQ1hM/v-deo.html
But hey, trains are already invented and they are soooo boring, we can't have that! /s
Already waiting for Adam Something to roast the thing lol
This seems very familiar

How does customs fit into that set up.

Awesome
