Why I Photograph Strangers Without Permission

  • Have you ever struggled whether or not to ask before taking a street photo? In this follow up to my previous video, I show a real example of where I took one photo BEFORE asking for permission and then took another after asking permission. You will see how asking permission changed the image and this can help you decide whether to ask or not the next time you take a street photo.

      Yes, indeed. I've asked before and even when they are enthusiastic, the expressions completely changed and could not be recreated.

    Well, if you don't mind, I would like to share my opinion.
    I you want to shoot a portrait: ask permission; if you want to shoot social or cultural life photos, don't.

    The posed image "looked" better, but yes, the first image looked more natural..
