The issue with AI is not the trajectory, it's the staggering speed of progression. Some people will see their jobs get replaced by AI, find new jobs, and then have their new jobs get replaced by AI as well. This will be extremely discouraging to a lot of people, and by the 3rd or 4th time around, they'll end up just giving up.
Im a big fan of Neil, but Ive worked in IT my whole life. I thought the same thing as your comment. What he doesn't understand is the incomprehensible speed at which technological change will be happening going forward. no human will be able to keep up. Also, not everyone has the resources to just go to the beach. Life will get much worse for those that don't, and will be impossible to get out of that poverty. Our entire education system is absurdly slow, & needs to be thrown out and redesigned. That won't happen either.
@@uk7769 Only positive i can see out of this is everyone has 3D printer where A.I can print all their needs but still you will need resources and you will need to trade/buy materials when there is no capital to be had. I see governments and the very rich dominating us
Yep, we could have a Star Trek utopian paradise or an orwellian hell.
It's up to up how we use technology and reorganize our lives around it.
Humanity is a Threat to Humanity 😂😂
Humanity’s always been it’s own biggest threat. First, we had Nuclear weapons, and now we have AI. How long will it take for humanity to cause their own suicidal extinction already?
Take this with a grain of salt. This is not in NDT’s field of study. He’s an astrophysicist, not a computer scientist.
"We'll just go to the beach, that's fine with me" seems cute, but reveals a profound lack of understanding of what gives meaning to a person's life. I'm a lyricist for musical theater, it is incredibly challenging and, when I finally get it right, gives me a profound sense of accomplishment, purpose, worth. AI, in 5 seconds, is going to be able to crush anything I could come up with in a year, if not now, then very very soon. Just one of infinite examples of where we're headed....
I asked Bard and it literally told me that machines can dominate humanity and control us 😭
I'm sure they will find solutions for that and avoid most ways that AGI could control us.
Not if we unplug them lol. They are more vulnerable than humans for sure. EMP and their brain is fried 😂
Coming from the guy who watches UFO movies, 😂
Truth is somtimes stranger then fiction
Mr Neil is an AI himself, don't believe when he says AI is not a threat.
I'm sure the character Miles Dyson in Terminator 2 said the same thing when they found the CPU from the original Terminator.....what can possibly go wrong.
Yeap that’s exactly how the movie went and in the end only a few survived . Imagen a zombie vs Ai movie , now that would be great !
I would pay to see these guys get together debate the issue, as gentlemen of course
These niel Degrassi haters sure do love watching him don't they ?
Artificial intelligence is our friend all hail a.i.!
Shit I would have to say different! With AI we’re going to be under complete control!
No we're not, we're dealing with ai models not robots. If we started putting ai into robots then we would possibly have a problem
@@curlyheaddeebo bro read over what you just commented!😂 You act like models in robots make some type of difference.
As if robots are going to be the only form of control that the globalists will have over us.. You sound l Ike you need to wake up!
@@curlyheaddeebo Would you not think that is the next step? They've already created robots that talk. It's a matter of time before they're able to be controlled with AI. I give it 5 years.
I would say Elon is correct and this guy lives in la la land….
My personal opinion based on past history ---
Steve Wozniak and Elon Musk are likely "confessing".
A.I. will only produce and affect what humans allow it to produce and affect, IMO.
If designed to perform task beneficial to mankind, that is the work that it will take on. But of course, humans being who and what they are [feel free to complete your own thoughts here].
The work that A.I. performs today depends on what it is coded to do. A.I. is not cognizant, nor self-aware...regardless of what some want us to believe.
In the distant future however, this may not be the case.
el tipo es un Narcisista que cree que una maquina no puede superarlo...😅🤣😂
Neil has put himself on a pedestal. Meaning, he is a one-sided acadamian who argues with proof by verbosity. In his mind, your data or evidence is irrelevant.
Neil talks just to hear his own voice.
STFU with that annoying shit I read that everywhere. Joe Rogan d riders 😂😂😂
@she belongs to the Skreetz Nothing wrong with listening to yourself if you’re as knowledgeable as Neil
Says a theoretical physicist.. key word theoretical. Just another theory.
So many people think these people are smart when they can literally say anything because their career is based on theoretical subjects.
We need Ja rule at a time like this
Neil won't be around to care.
Its amazing how smart he is touted as, yet has such a tiny vision on the profound implications and potential dangers of a super intelligent AI. His viewpoint is one possibility, yes. Why ignore the rest?
Says a robot..😳
I completely agree
I agree with neil. 😎💯
For the first time I agree with the dummy
Doesn't he also say the earth is shaped more like a pear than a sphere?
🧢
@@chasesonic292 not scared I just think it’ll fuck up our perception of reality
He should have said, "Maybe there are no other tasks & we just go to the unemployment line." Or better yet the government intervenes and starts universal income BS and we are essentially government subjects that are completely reliant on the government giving us money. All sounds FN terrible and I trust Elon and Steve W. over Neil.
People using ai is a threat
And so , in one clip , Tyson shows us he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Kinda sad when you realize AI has more common sense than the average citizen.
No shit. Why do you think it stands for artificial INTELLIGENCE? Isn’t that common sense
@@nahnah5961 artificial anything is usually less than. Just ask the Kardashians
@@nahnah5961 A singular AI system being smarter than humans on every level is a new phenomenon, pipe down.
Question which Rocket Scientist is smarter based on ACTUAL accompishents? The guy who launches more sattelites, builds more cars, is the one of the richest men in history, Elon Musk or the guy on tv shows........
Listen to him if you want to I’m not listening sounds like a bunch of crap to me
I mostly see good benefits of using A.I.. Especially when scientists perfect it and explain it in a way that everyone can understand. Because technically are smartphones, computers, tablets, and other devices already have a form of A.I.. Because all we have to say is Hey Google, Suri, or Alexa. Depending on what smartphone, device, or computer you have. And then Google, Suri, or Alexa will search for whatever you ask for. Anyways technology and A.I. is getting better everyday. So I don't believe there is any reason to immediately assume the Terminator movie is going to become a reality. Anyways I'm not a conspiracy theorist. So I suggest people stop assuming A.I. is bad, because as I already said. I see mostly good benefits of A.I., based on what I've learned so far about A.I..
You are talking about narrow AI. The problems of general AI are vastly different and very probably end civilization and humans. Neil is way out of his domain on this. Check out the AI alignment problem (you could stop there, and should be sufficiently horrified), the orthogonality thesis, and interpretability, related to why all the calls from that open letter this week for full stop of all AI research right now. And then realize, it cannot and will not stop, because how would you know every team in the entire world actually has stopped. You can't. As of this week, We are living thru the movie Dont Look Up. except the astroid we now know is on its way with certainty, and very likely much sooner than we thought, is general AI. BTW, there is one and only one chance to get AGI right: the first time.
@@uk7769
AGI doesn't exist yet, and when it will exist you won't let it control your nukes, like you don't let any child play with it.
BRO HE GUYANESE HES MY UNCLE
I disagree with Neil deGrasse Tyson on a lot of things, I think he's right about this.
Will we go to the beach with government handouts? If yes, then government will have too much control over everything - essentially turning more free market countries into more socialist ones.. and then whenever you dont agree with what the government tells you to do - they can easily cut you off from the resources… is there a way around that?? I had enough living in a socialist country and then immigrated to the West…
Yet
Exactly, none of these “ai isn’t going to be that bad” have never heard of the word “yet”. 🔥🤦🏾♂️🔥
We are already seeing the negative effects of regular AI in our lives... billions of young people have problems, including less and less empathy trough the use of social media apps... We as citizens are capture in this sistem that nothing in the world seems to go without AI and we feel more and more trapped... And we are seeing already large unimploiment in big tech coorporations...
We need to worrie because is in did a disruptive technology, without any regulation or control... More for, the "alignment" in social media apps isn't done yet, they failed with that too... It seems like a bunch of crazy people playing god with no accountability whatsoever... Tyson is playing dumb?!
Neil is right here, the fear mongering is excessive.
prepared interview
Who are you gonna believe, Elon Musk or Neil Degrasse Tyson?
Definitely not Elon who thought firing half of twitter, making it have stability issues, and giving Threads and opportunity to shine was a good idea
Ai algthrothium that helps you solve problems based off your input response solution then the soultuon is compile with other solutions to make a library response action for a solution and it grows well forms response solutions based off information topic and solution information awareness like how a operation is suppose to run based off trial data and research trial data to for a thought for response action meaning it needs a solution response to make the thought a action for real time placement action thought to a given soultuon response that's how it should grow with the human thought element response to change growth in time it's a library of growth topic responses the movie frame it make should be a history of change and growth th story if it elvoiltionary thought growth a response to time

Nobody takes his words as a God or Elon... just saying
Have to agree.
he is so wrong,! comparing AI to calculators 😂 also AI wont move 'little bit by bit'.. Just look what has happened in the last 3 months, its not linear progress, but rather exponential. Shock after shock!
You fool, exponential growth isn't constant, its partial. It can go in patterns like this: 2, 3 , 4, 15,17, 18, 19, because it "blew up" with chatgtp it doesn't mean it will keep this pace, thats foolish. Also indeed a calculator is a simple form of ai, 1000 times better than a human at addition. But chatgtp does more complex things, with words and stuff enough to convince idiots like you.. but it is fundamentally different from a biological consciousness! Also saying ai will take the same path as humanity in intelligence is stupid. Ant, chimp, human, asi thats stupid, it is like saying banana, grapefruit, chair, thunderbolt. The irrelevance canmot be spot by internet corrupted embryos such as you and most of the teen commenters
neil is a really confused person, if he is really a human he probably feels really bad, if not thats why
😂 Will he take the mark on his right hand or forehead? I wonder what his Masonic degree is?
Thus proving his stupidity and or his paid status as an apparatchik for the department of defense
Wow. Tyson doesn’t really understand what’s actually taking place in Artificial Intelligence.
I’ve been around a while, and it seems to me the more college degrees somebody has the dumber they seem to become. And this is a prime example.
“Americans watch too many movies” 👏 Bravo Sir! well said
