Just a minor correction for Richard Park's memory of the "Rollover Reck". It didn't exactly break. I worked on that Reck and rode in it in the parade. It had two external "roll" bars that encompassed it and there was a pole that went through the top and bottom of the car off center. The pole was powered by a battery driven electric motor that drove the pole out the bottom of the car lifting it eccentrically onto the "roll" bars. We tested it the night before the race on flat ground and it worked perfectly. It did a complete roll landing back on its wheels and we drove it back to the house. Unfortunately, in the parade, when it stopped in front of the judge's stand it was leaning on a slight hill. When the pole mechanism was activated (and everyone exited the car) the pole lifted the side of the car almost to the rolling point when the angle of the road caused the pole to slip sideways and jam resulting in us having to manually finish lifting it to the rolling point. The car then did a complete roll, landing on its wheels and was driven away.
