  • Hey GlamFam! So I was going through my camera and realized that I had this filmed and I never edited it to post! SO... Here is a video to talk to you a bit more about how to flat iron like a professional! I give some general tips in this video, so if you would like in depth detail, just let me know!
    **For the flat iron I'm using, click here: amzn.to/2uH6CIq
    **For the titanium flat iron I mentioned in the video, click here: amzn.to/2eRDydu
    **For the mannequin I'm using, click here: amzn.to/2tNNoDS
    This method of flat ironing will help you get hair straighter, and keep it straight longer, while using less heat! Someone always asks, so quick disclaimer: This will not permanently straighten your hair.
    I hope that you like this video GlamFam! You know I love you!
    Linwood

    Great video, you made that haircut work lol, TFS! Can you please tell me what flat iron temperature you'd recommend for kinky hair? I have kinky "type 4" hair with *a lot* of strands, but the strands are fine. I've been using 410, but I'm afraid that'll damage it because of how fine my strands are. Is that a good temp, or should I lower/raise it?

    • @GetGlamFam
      @GetGlamFam  7 років тому +3

      +Liyah Richmond thank you! If the strands are fine, I would stay between 360 and 380, depending on how fine it is. Excellent question!

    Would you add a heat protectant before you blow dry and then flat iron? Or, would you add the heat protectant before flat ironing only? Also do you add the Heat Protector to the entire head or do you put it on each section as you flat iron?

    👍🏾great per usual! What products would you recommend to fight summer heat and humidity. Seems like I flat iron, step outside into summer humidity and my curls are instantly gone. 😔 I use Garnier Frutis (sp?) Humidity Fighter but that product seems sticky.

    • @GetGlamFam
      @GetGlamFam  7 років тому +3

      +Kendall Norman I'm actually not a huge fan of that line for various reasons, but I will tell you this:
      The best way to fight humidity is with your moisture balance. Using a richly moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, following up with a moisturizing leave in, and then glazed with a small amount of a smoothing serum usually does the trick quite nicely! 👍🏽❤️

    Is a titanium flat iron better then a ceramic one?

    • @GetGlamFam
      @GetGlamFam  6 років тому +4

      For coarse/resistant hair, yes. For finer hair, ceramic is better. I prefer a Tourmaline iron for most people because it’s a happy middle ground😊

    whats your favorite heat protector? My daughter is a 4C, love your videos

    • @GetGlamFam
      @GetGlamFam  6 років тому

      I honestly am not a huge fan of heat protectant. I deep condition prior to pressing, and I select a temperature that best suits the hair type. Now shine serums/ smoothing serums can offer a degree of protection for the hair, so those would typically be my selection.
      Unfortunately, most “heat protectant products” either have alcohol or they make the hair stiff, so I don’t care for most of them.
      I hope that helps dear! Thank you so much for watching!

    I usually flat iron my hair on 380 but recently did 420 due to summer heat. I did it because I see lots of stylist use 430 on black hair so I did thinking it would keep my hair straighter during the summer. What do y'all think?

    I really want a short cut like this, but I don’t like having to apply heat to my hair. As a curtly girl, my only options are to suck it up and deal with straightening it, or to get a weave, which I’ve never had and know nothing about.

      +Stacey Ann Chevalier thank you very much! I figure, even though I'm working on a mannequin, the techniques taught need to be suited for a live person, as most of us would be doing this on a live person😊😊
      Thank you so much for watching!

    omg cause i have been scared AF to use one. also what heating protective spray is cheap but worthy to use before you flat iron?

    • @GetGlamFam
      @GetGlamFam  6 років тому +6

      I honestly don’t like heat protectant sprays, most of them are alcohol based and dry out the hair.

    I love the Bio Ionic 10x. I use it on all hair types. I don’t care for the flat irons that come in the kits for Cosmetology school. I went to Paul Mitchell. The flat iron that I got with my kit is fairly new because I already had their titanium one. The starter flat irons actually work because I helped some students when they had clients and that’s all they had. I never thought about it but I might do a giveaway.

      Honestly, the lowest temp your hair will respond at.
