Something just occured to me, perhaps some sort of remnant since days in the trees but perhaps modern humans have carried a mental relaxation need somewhat easily satisfied through cleaning and grooming and evolutionarily these sorts of things draw many people to them for that reason...
Obviously psychologically it satisfies a need to be cared for and attended to

Honestly the sound indoors is way better for the ASMR effect compared to outside ones. This guy's (cleaner) movement and use of tools help calm you to sleep. My go to when I can't sleep at night.
When I found asmr videos newly I used to think that I was weird bcos it mostly makes me sleepy and I enjoyed it.

Instead of using any instrument blindly without any proper precaution, use solewax ear drop twice a day then clean ear with syringing. Safe and self.
