Thanks for this tutorial. I used small washers and stuck them in same spot. Our oven is Daewoo with same latch to remove the oven door. Wifey super impressed. 👍🏼
brilliant!!! It worked on my Westinghouse PAK143W. I used some little nuts. You sir, are a certifiable genius. A national treasure. Many thanks from across the ditch mate!
Great tip. ..... if the door don't shut, tilt the spring mechanism backwards. ,,,, and what's more, you delivered everything I need in under 3 mins. Thanks for sharing.
I just performed this little hack on our oven, took ten minutes. The door shuts firm! I cannot believe we've struggled with underwhelming oven temps for the last three years. Great result. Thanks!
Brilliant! I have a 25 year old Neff lower oven door with this problem (inherited 20years ago). The screw to remove is 45mm above the hinge - a bit more than the video but same principle. I inserted small nuts about 3mm thick and its worked a charm. Thank you.
Also accessed by loosening side panel and changing up the top screw to a longer one with washers. Access was fairly easy undoing side panels in the front and back and bending open with assistant aka the wife. Thanks again.
Thanks so much Paul. worked for me on Westinghouse 790. I used nuts. Wish I had found this before I paid $100 for new hinges. But hey its fixed! Thanks again.
thanks for your show. instead of putting a nail in there I took the top screw out and taped the top hole back with a bolt and hammer because the hole was stretched out. worked a treat!!!!!!!!!!!
Genius solution to what would otherwise be an expensive repair with a call-out. I used a couple of washers (tricky to retain in place but possible) and the issue was instantly resolved. Thank you so much for helping me to solve this problem. FYI, my oven is a Lacanche Macon Classic. Thanks again
Wow this worked ! used a little shim of metal (a bit like others who have used a washer) and held it in place with a magnet while tightening the screw. Door snaps shut nicely. Excellent
Thanks man, this saved the day. I'm an apartment maintenance tech. First I tried to switch the whole door and hinge assembly out with a used one I had in the shop. Still did not work. I tried your repair trick with a small nut I had on hand in my toolbox and voila shuts all the way to the bumper stop!!
Awesome! My oven wasn't the same model as yours but I was able to modify the fix and now the door closes firmly! My slot was wide enough to accept a 6-32 nut. I threaded a 6-32 nut onto a screw, then loosened the top screw in the oven and put the nut in place as far as it would go. Gently tightened the oven screw to hold the nut in place and removed the screw from the nut, then pushed it up into place.
Thank you so much again for the help you gave me with fixing my oven door. This is the second time I have used your method with success. This time I used a small nut in place of the piece of nail and it has resulted in the door closing much better. 😊👍👏
THANK YOU!!! I thought I was going to have to tear the entire door apart to replace the hinges. You saved me mate!! One tip, if you unscrew the screw on top but barely leave it in, you can use one hand to push the on the screw (making a gap) while you use the other hand to push the nail up into the gap between the hinge housing and the oven.
I have to tell you Paul, your creative solution worked!! And I can see why ad it pitched the receiver back enough to create the pull to snap back the oven door. Brilliant solution. I used a couple of washers for each screw and it worked beautifully. Now I should note, the gap was a bit tough to fish 2 washers behind to screw it all together. I had to use a hook and with the pressure of the receiver hitch pushing back bu having the one screw holding it in place...I was able to have the washers staying put, as I lined it all up to screw it back together. Did this for both sides obviously. While doing this, I noticed why with new hinges installed, that I was still having the same issue before this solution. The oven frame around the receiver hinge has become bend out and fatigued, therefore causing the oven door not to want to shut tight. But building it back out with the washers to give them a pitch back is a perfect fix!! Thanks so much for taking the time to publish this. You're a king.
hello buddy I,ve the same problem with my mother in law's Bosch oven. I wonder if this solution harms oven frame or not? I'm not sure if I should change the hinges or try this. Is it safe? Does any body here encountered any problem so far? Thanks
It's been 3 years. 3 years of going through baby safety adhesive things to close this thing while cooking or running it at an excess temp, about to go and give this a hoon and I'm expecting praise all around from the wife.
In the comments below, some people have suggested using a thicker nail or more washers to create a bigger gap to get it to shut further. You may need to buy longer screws
Hi Paul, just wanted to say I had a similar situation, used your little McGuyver, seems to have worked, we'll see how the mum in laws bread turns out, thanks bro
my oven didnt have the screw fixing to pack off but a taped the nail to the back of the short hinge protusion that goes into the door. This worked a treat and as long as nail stays in place it should be great. It should as it does move in operation and now the door close properly amd also is in the correct place at horrizontal when open. Thanks for the inspiration
Thanks this saved me hundreds of $$ to fix! I couldn’t get the piece of nail underneath so instead I added a nut to the screw so it sticks out more on the exterior. Works as well and less fiddly. Hopefully this fix lasts
tried that as it seems like an awesome idea.. but did nothing for my GE profile wall oven door.. still the same :-( Glad it works for some as I didn't want to have to buy hinges
Worked brilliantly. Has been so frustrating, who would have thought that it was such an easy fix. Appreciate
Great fix ... still working for me 4 years later ... toes and thumbs up.
Thank you so much, my wife is impressed with me, which is a rare occurrence.
ain't that the truth. we do so much with so little praise. where's my tiny violin.
🤣
How'd you get one of those?
Genius solution mate.
This solution worked perfectly for me. Many thanks.
😁😁great absolutely genious
If you cant put washers or nail at the oven you can do this at the other side of the hinge(mounted on the door).
Thank you for publishing this video. As you can see by the comments you have solved the problem for many of us.
Thanks for this tutorial. I used small washers and stuck them in same spot. Our oven is Daewoo with same latch to remove the oven door. Wifey super impressed. 👍🏼

Wow dude, 2-3 years in a rental with an oven like this - your trick worked a treat!
Great tip. ..... if the door don't shut, tilt the spring mechanism backwards.

This guy is legendary 😂😂 I legit thought it wouldn’t work but gave it a chance and voila!! Works like a charm! Thanks bruv!
Thank you! Brilliant in its' simplicity &100% effective. Without your generosity this hack would be largely unknown.

Thank you. I used your method with washers and it solved the problem on my Elba oven.
You’ve just saved me buying a new oven...absolute legend 🤘🏻
Thank you so much.
What a great idea. You've saved me the cost of new hinges and the trouble of pulling the door apart to replace the hinges.
New hinges won’t fix a bent chassis anyway.
Just used your method to fix my oven (Flavel Milano 100). Used a slightly thicker nail on mine, worked like a charm! Really appreciate this mate 👌🏻
I watched this video and my door is fixed. Goood guide sir!
Wow this worked ! used a little shim of metal (a bit like others who have used a washer) and held it in place with a magnet while tightening the screw. Door snaps shut nicely. Excellent

Thanks so much Paul. I finally fixed the oven door. 👏👏👏
Life saver! I thought i was gonna have to play someone to fix that. Oh and I used washer too, worked a charm.
Thank you, worked a treat, so glad you decided to post a video of your fix, cheers .

Amazingly simple and works beautifully... absolutely elegant thinking. Thank you.
Awesome! Such a simple idea. No top screw on my Simpson oven in a rental property but loosening the bottom screw allowed the insert!
Give this man a beer
Speights thanks
You’re a legend. This worked perfect on my chef freestanding oven and it had a massive gap. Thank you
Thank you so much again for the help you gave me with fixing my oven door. This is the second time I have used your method with success. This time I used a small nut in place of the piece of nail and it has resulted in the door closing much better. 😊👍👏
Thanks, worked for me. Some play in the hinge, taking away the gap was the key.
Absolute genius. Saved me time and money. You're a legend.

Glad it worked for you too. Good tip too thanks
You are a national treasure! 👍👍
Hey thanks so much for this. My husband used this to fix my Mum's oven door and it worked really well!
It worked a treat on my oven. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks Paul. What an ingenious hack. Worked like a charm on my Defy oven.
This trick worked great on my white Sears Kenmore oven also. Thank you Paul :-)
Genius! Saved me much headache!!
thanks for that quick fix I was getting unhinged on my oven door not closing
great video buddy very helpful because that is a common problem
Now why didn't I read / watch this 10 years ago! Hasn't been working properly since it was put in.
Cheers for this :)
You're welcome !
Love that kiwi ingenuity. Thanks!
Tried and it works perfect. Just wish I knew why this happens over time.
Great idea. Thanks for sharing. I used a washer on each side with a small piece of double-sided tape on each to hold them in place. It did the job.
Just tried this and it works brilliantly - thank you!
Cheers, what a great tip .Thanks for saving me time on pulling door / hinges apart . TopTip
Looks like you nailed it Paul!
Thank you worked first time.
thanks paul just repaired my westinghouse colombo door using a washer under top screw. worked first pop . thanks

Brilliant! Thank you. Now we don't have to hold the door closed for 14-16 minutes when we're cooking pizza. LOL
Brilliant mate. Thanks. I love the simple fixes :)
Bloody genius mate, cheers
Worked a treat, you're a champ.
It’s not totally closed but it’s really close and far closer than it has ever been. Great solution thank you.
In the comments below, some people have suggested using a thicker nail or more washers to create a bigger gap to get it to shut further. You may need to buy longer screws
Fantastic mate - Ill try this on my mothers oven - A+
Thank you so so much, took 5 minutes, job done, excellent tip.

This literally seems like a scene from Aliens
Thanks for this vid, it worked for us too. We have a Westinghouse Alpha.
dude that is an awesome fix. How on Earth did you figure that out. Thanks mate
Thanks for the info. Good job
Worked a treat, thank you!!
Wow thanks, I’ll try this tomorrow! I thought it might be the seal causing it but it seems fine.
Worked a treat thanks! I used a tiny nut
You could even use a U shaped piece of fencing wire.
Thanks this saved me hundreds of $$ to fix! I couldn’t get the piece of nail underneath so instead I added a nut to the screw so it sticks out more on the exterior. Works as well and less fiddly. Hopefully this fix lasts
Thanks, gonna do this too since I have a variety pack of nut sizes
@@findmeintime can confirm the door still shuts a year on. Good luck :)
