Sounds cool. Really cool new features which are obviously focussed on modernising the old EK43 into the current coffee scene. I wish I could justify buying one of these for my house!
Is the Omnia shipped with the coffee burrs set? And do they grind fine enough for lighter roast espresso? I had an EK back in 2013 and had to change the coffee burrs set for Turkish in order to be able to grind fine enough for espresso. I believe Mahlkonig later refined the geometry of the coffee burrs to enable them to go fine enough for espresso.
Advantages - a fantastic exterior, along with automated gap adjustment. Disadvantages - Has the alignment issue been resolved? Why is there no RPM variable function? Why is there no explanation regarding the grinding quality when compared to the previous version?"
Alignment is guaranteed with two bearing either side of the rotating burr. This ensures perpendicularity of the shaft which translates to parallelism of the rotating and stationary burr, and this inherently ensures a greater quality grinding. Further quality assurance is verified during manufacturing. The grind quality will be similar because it uses the same burrs but with the above steps this will bring a greater level of control when brewing. Because of the brushless motor anything is possible so perhaps in the future variable rpm could be a possibility. Stay tuned for updates :)
I’m about to order the Omnia for home use. To replace my to Mazzer grinders (one for filter one for espresso). With just one grinder switching in library mode for espresso & filter settings. We hear you. There is many baristas out there who request we re-release this burr quite often. In fact, many have not actually tried it but the online community have created quite a buzz around it making it legendary. If there is enough demand we could consider remaking it. Perhaps we should put it to a public vote to gauge interest. If we get enough demand we could open a preorder and remake it. The standard EK burrs have been incredibly popular and have been designed and calibrated to cover a wide range of coffees from amazing espresso to filter. Back then we reacted to the fact that the 2015 burrs were great for filter coffee but not a great all rounder due to its narrow application window and therefore did not cover the wider demands of our customers brewing espresso. However, we hear you, we think and we care about your thoughts. Do you think we should bring the EK43 2015 burrs back and would to commit with a pre-order?
@@MahlkoenigGrinders Thank you for your interest and listening. Yes, I would be interested in ordering pre 2015. I am not telling you to change the current burr. We would like to have two options. Don’t worry, we will always keep the iconic original EK43, after all it’s the original single dose grinder that started a movement. The Omnia is here to join the EK43 & EK43 S in the EK family of grinders. Because the Omnia has a very high quality BLDC motor anything is possible. We will be answering more detailed questions with our R&D team soon, so stay tuned!

We will be shipping the Omnia to our distributors from December. You can find your local distributor via the link below ❤ www.mahlkoenig.com/apps/store-locator-2
Hello, you will need to contact your local Mahlkönig distributor for pricing in your region. You can find the information at www.mahlkoenig.com/apps/store-locator-2
Looks interest! You show 100 microns and mention it is the distance between the discs. Is it accurate and calibrated out of the box or does it still need the dealer/user to that it? Does it hold the calibration? What would the coffee particle size be at 100 micron of disc distance? Before you needed the Turkish burr set to grind fine, is the Omnia compatible with them?
The particle size at a given value - say 100 microns - will vary from one coffee to another due to the varying hardnesses (light roast and dark roast). The Ek Omnia performs as the EK43 in terms of how fine it can grind and it also can use the Turkish burrs if required.
Nothing planned at the moment. The Omnia has been designed for the cafe first and foremost. The height is essential for so many tasks. We will always listen to customer feedback and if there is the demand for a shorter Omnia then we can address this in the future.
As standard, the Omnia comes with the 250g hopper but will also accept the larger hoppers from the E range of grinders all the way up to 1.8kg of coffee 🙂
Infuriating that companies can’t be transparent and lost the price ffs. A missed opportunity on their part. Just make buying decisions easier and you’ll find you sell more. This is more difficult than it has to be.
Thanks for your feedback. The recommended retail price is 2999 euros but it is always recommended to contact the dealer in your region for accurate pricing information as this can change slightly depending on the location. We would love to be transparent as possible but as we don’t sell directly we need to support our wonderful team of distributors across the globe who will be more than happy to help you gain accurate pricing including all delivery and taxes for your country, wherever you may be. If you have any more questions do not hesitate to get in touch.
Burrs with no screw holes don’t affect grind quality in any way. We made the first screw less burr in the 1990’s for Tchibo - it was called the K501 and then also in the Tanzania in the 2000’s. We wanted to Omnia to have the same compatibility across the EK range as customers sometimes have a collection of burrs. Hope that helps!

Did you ever thought about adding a portafilter attachment to the grinding beg holder? Maybe you could build one with a thread for being able to use the classig setting and if needet to attach the portafilter device. Of course, it must be connected somehow to a trigger so the grind can be initiated once you put the portafilter inside just like regular espresso grinders with grind on demand feature.

Love the grinder, but let's pause for a moment. Who is this video for? The average consumer isn't going to buy any grinder at this high price. The people with the kind of money to burn don't care about grinders. The people who are really into coffee, or pretend to be, and have UA-cam channels will have this grinder in their spaces, but they'll expect it (and will get it) for free. Commercial clients aren't likely to watch YT and will take whatever their reps recommend or have to offer. Unless you're going to market some lower cost options, it's not really worth promoting the brand on UA-cam, IMO.
