Can somebody please explain why it is, that music that is Baroque, in a minor key, featuring flutes and recorders in this fashion just wreck me. They demand my attention and not jusut my mind but my soul. I listen to them over and over again, sometimes just to bask in the harmonies, sometimes to try to unravel the musical/mathmatical brilliance of it all. The Baroque era was super ahead of its time, because it's timeless. OK rant over, thank you! I originall found this song from watching Le Roi Danse, and it's one of my favorite of all times.
Beautiful recorder trio. David Lasocki states in one of his articles that recorder was associated, through the baroque period, with death, supernatural, ghosts and spirits, night, underworld, gods of forests, nimphs of trees, streams of water, dream, sleep.
