Come along at a perfect time - I am just about to buy an Arri Redhead or Blond, so it is greatly appreciated! Would love to see more on lighting, particularly with the Tungsten world.
It’s you! I’ve been following your channel for quite some time. Cool to see you on the other side of the lens and smart move introducing yourself. I wouldn’t have caught the connection by voice alone.
So, i have an idea for a shoot where i'll be shooting a subject indoors with a strobe that is gelled with a CTO gel to give the impression of tungsten light. I will also be shooting a second strobe through the window of the room to give the effect of a street lamp, i will be gelling this with a stronger CTO gel. I shoot mainly with film and the only tungsten balanced film on the market is cinestill 800t which gives red halation's to light sources which im not a fan of. If i was to shoot a daylight balanced film, would i have to put a colour correcting filter onto my lens, if so, which one? sorry if i haven't explained that very well, thanks
This technique is mostly done in a reversed way meaning tungsten on the subjects face and daylight balanced lights in the background often supplemented with some additional tungsten practicals in the room. The whole orange/ teal technique is exactly that, warm facial colors and cool backgrounds. Not sure why you chose this rather unusual scenario since it’s hardly ever used in this way.
yeah I was expeting it to be demonstrated in the method you' re describing it. The reverse works sometimes but doesn't look as pleasing to the eye as the usual method.
This is great to hear your thoughts - Ive been put off gettng tungsten Fresnel 3 light kit due to their heat and power consumption, but im also put of going for expensive portable ~fresnel LED kits like Boltzen 30 or 50, or Apurture mini D or the latest godox s30 fresnel LEDs due to their lack of power at around a commitment of £1200 for 3 light kit following your video I wonder whether to go for those hot lights after all or maybe even consider the alternative Godox 60W or 60T as a combo - do u have any thoughts about my notes perhaps - ideally i want to spend less than £500 for budget hollywod style video and photogrpahy projects
if i'm not wrong he said Cinematography Database which is part of a game in Steam, called Cine Tracer. www.cinematographydb.com/author/mattworkman/ this guy created it.
???? I mean, if your so lycky ! to have a daylight comming in, and can setup a warm tungsten at 3000k, in the other side of the face you can turn taht in post to be just a beautiful color-contrast !!!! so yor actually totally wrong !! warm backgruond, and daylight in the face, in this TCV example, you misunderstood , sir !!
REALLY enjoyed this video! Love the honesty is what he was doing, very refreshing!

Nonetheless, it's exactly what I was looking for. Perhaps that's because I'm too ignorant to know how it "should" be done.
