I absolutely love his attitude towards opera. So many singers get SO held up on there specific Fach they won't even take other roles. Spyres just tries them anyway. He isn't super suited to Wagner compared to some tenors but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try a Wagner role or 2 just because its an interesting challenge. I also greatly appreciate artists who promote underrated/obscure works. How had Rossinis otello only ever been recorded like twice?? Its the better Otello lol...
I am so looking forward to the performance. The singing, not the plot. As a long time season ticket holder, I very much miss the Sunday performance being followed by a behind the music discussion in the green room. I've been standing in a packed green room with a featured singer next to me waiting to be interviewed.
Oh I do hope there will be a stream or something as we here in Europe can not come around easily... It sounds most interessting!
