Lets talk about the basic history
Prithviraj Chauhan ( played by Akshay Kumar) was one of the greatest king in Indian history. He defended our country from the attack of the ruler Ghori who looted India. And the king killed him with a bow without his eyes. This is written in history.
In the last seen the lions were shown because King Prithviraj Chauhan killed it at a age of 12.
Muhammad Ghori was an Afghan King of Ghor who wanted to establish Muslim rule in India
The one you are talking about is Mahmud of Gaznavi who looted India and destroyed Somnath.

I understand the desire to see him as a saviour of our country, but you have to know the major motivation for most kings including prithiviraj chauhan was protection of their kingdom and personal pride more than any sentiment of national pride. Nonetheless, he is someone to be admired.

Prithviraj Chauhan unified several Rajput clans and defeated the Ghurid army led by Muhammad Ghori near Taraori in 1191 but Chauhan let go ghori as mercy However, in 1192 , Ghori returned with an army of Turkish mounted archers and defeated the Rajput army on the same battlefield.
Prithviraj Chauhan was greatly famous for his archery skills , when Ghori snatched away his eyes in the court and then ordered Chauhan to show his skills , Prithviraaj Chauhan without his eyes , shot arrows right in the eyes of Ghori , showing his heroic skills .
In 2nd battle , the batle actually didn't took place ghori attacked a sleeping army in night in the garb of treaty with prithviraj
Prithviraj defeted ghori 16times.

It's nostalgic for me..There's a tv serial based on the story of Prithviraj Chauhan in 2006..Rajat Tokas played the role so well, his voice and everything matched perfectly with the character..
Even in the serial it's show that prithviraj met sanyogita met multiple time which is not true

The scene where sanyogita who is the princess played by Manushi chillar... puts that garland to the statue... The statue was of Prithviraj... Because when her father get to know that she is in love with Prithviraj Chauhan ... He organized a savyamwar... (where all the kings show their skills and prove that they are capable of getting married to princess) So the father of Sanyogita whose name was Jaichand ( who later betrays Prithviraj) call all the kings except Prithvi.... He made his statue and put that in the front of gate as a gatekeeper.... When sanyogita saw that she didn't even think for a second... went there and put that garland to the statue.. and she said that i dont care how much skillful these other kings are but i Loved Prithvi.... So i even ready to get married to the statue of Prithvi .... Before this prithvi was already on his way to this event... and he came on the horse and ask Sanyogita that ... Will she marry him and ready to go with him... and at that time no soldier was coming in front of his way... SHe said yes and then Prithvi said Jaichand The father of sanyogita to give his blessings... and then prithvi give his hand to sanyogita and then they both went back to Prithvi's Kingdom on the horse....

The biggest blunder in the name of creative liberty taken by the makers of the film is the casting. As per history, Prithviraj Chauhan became the king at the age of 11/13. And we have 52 years old Akshay Kumar playing the role of a young king. The Hindi tv series on star plus aired in 2007 had authentic casting.

Being honest, I have a query, did we connect with Akshay being Prithviraj? Not only the base of his voice for Samrat but that young fiery and bravery look is somehow missing.
No hate to Akshay, he must have given his best and also the makers also tried their best... But the main issue is that we all have grown up watching Rajat Sir on small screen and perhaps this is the only reason why most people in comments couldn't connect.
Anyways, much love to the entire cast and crew for this endeavor.

No hate to you or your views but you have seen someone else in that role already hence you are biased towards them. I personally haven't so I loved this trailer. One of the reasons I didn't watch that show was because the actor seemed unfit for the role(I know since I haven't seen it so I shouldn't say that to him) but that was the 1st vibe I got from him in ads and from pics so never gave a chance(I know its not right to do so but that put me off).
What I am pointing out is that we both are driven by our biases so both of us are wrong. Similarly, those who have seen it will agree with you because of the bias they carry and perhaps those who haven't will with me.

DR Chandraprakash Dwivedi is one of the most finest director in Hindi Cinema. The use of music and poetry from old Era is commendable. The recreation of history is dr.sahab's forte. Like the architecture, colors, even the turbans. This is surely going to be the biggest hit of the year.
There's a series on Disney+ hotstar ,we watched it in our childhood and it was amazing.
Rajat tokas actor for that series killed it ( in a good way).
They had him for only few episodes end up straching every episode cz his acting was so brilliant. They even filmed few episodes with other actor( Angad bedi neha dhupias husband) but they filmed those again with Rajat.
Thy stretch episodes cuz rattings were good. In india thy shows anything. Watch any historical or Mythological shows. Thy extend show so for rattings. If you try to find mention of those incident shown in episode you will not found anything. like some religious shows i seen Krishna becoming a girl for Radha and m mindfkd cuz Radha was older thn Krishna.
Apart from Sony no one has limited episode series.

Dude I just watched it yesterday… and it’s epic …. I was crying for hours after the movie finished… I just could not get over it …. Akshay did a fabulous job and it’s a must watch … I was so sad that half of the theatre was empty ….. this is so bad …. We Indians should appreciate movies like this …. It’s so sad …. Movies like this need to be made … history like ours needs to be preserved … and it’s so sad that we don’t appreciate it … it’s a must watch … visuals vfx music direction everything on point !…. Shame on us to not give justice to this masterpiece

I am not comparing Akshay with somebody but everything in the movie looks good except Akshay maybe because i have heard a lot about Prithviraj through folk lores and how he is described in them is fitted into my brain and can't accept akshay...i mean King Prithvi's one wrist was measured with 52 fingers ...when his wrists were that strong u can imagine his body size...similarly if u take Maharana Pratap u need to cast someone of exceptionally tall height as he was also almost 7 feet tall and extremely heavy and muscular.
It is just I m not getting Prithvi Raj vibes from him but of Akshay Kumar only..

This is not true that indian rulers never unite against invaders ex - Against Huns first skandgupta defeated them but after fall of gupta empire they attack again but then indian kings unite and defeated them again, nagarbhat and bappa rawal formed a rajput alliance and defend india from arab invasion and this alliance lasted for hundreds of years,for 300 years no invasion depsite they are at borders because of rajputs,. After this invaders try to come from Punjab side where there are no rajputs and mohd ghazni entered from there and destroyed our temples , lotted us but our kings didn't unite but when his nephew after few years again try to invade India with 1.5 lakh army suhaildev formed an alliance and defeat and killed him and no invasion happened again for 150 years, during prithvi raj time prithvi raj already have large part of North West india and large army so he didn't try to formed an alliance and defeated ghori first time and may had defeated second time also if ghori didn't use lies , games like attacking in night and manipulating that I am just retreating not going to war against you and by this he manipulate prithvi raj and defeated him, and in 3rd time under rana sanga indian kings unite against babur but can't stand against guns , cannons which used first time in india. Due to our great education system we are always told that we never unite against invaders and always got defeat but no mention of how we defeat Huns ( huns destroyed Romans but can't destroy india) and how we defeats arabs and and how we defeat 2nd ghazni invasion

Director - Chandraprakash ji famous for CHANAKYA SERIES OF 1991, he himself had performed Chanakya and movie PINJAR (a must watch classic on Partition time)..... Md. Gouri is Manav Vij (liked in Movie Philauri), real life wife is Meher Vij (Secret Superstar fame)... This history is every film maker's dream to make a movie... story line on this history written by Dr. himself, would be a treat to watch, I hope so...

The story is that Mohommad Gauri who use to come to India and loot everything tried to conquer Delhi 11 times. 10 times he was defeated by Prithviraj. Last time Prithviraj came to meet him and that guy backstabbed and pierced his eyes cause he was a very good with hand eye coordination. But he didn't realise Prithviraj could also hit with sound and he was successful when he was taken to Afghanistan to torture

To be honest, it is not upto our expectations. Prithviraj Chauhan movie is something we all are waiting, but now watching the trailer I am not sure if i should watch it or not. That attitude, proud, goosebumps are missing.

@@advitavankore9114 it isn't about disliking historical movies, we loved Jodha Akbar, Padmavat, Bajirao...it all about how you deliver it to audiance. Casting and dialogue delivery is important. But why Akshay Kumar? We have tons of young actors. And believe me, the impact I expected is not there. It's nice that you like it, I am a huge fan of History, when Prithviraj first aired on Star Plus I fell in love with the series. Now gonna watch movie too.

Prithviraj Chauhan fought the invader Md. Ghori in the Battle of Tarai around 820 years ago. The battle between these two marked a turning point in Indian History. Usually Love stories are insignificant in historical epics however the story of Prithviraj and Princess Sanyogita is actually a crucial one that affected the battle.
(Spoiler History)
First battle of Tarai, Ghori was defeated and chased away, but he returned next year. Prithviraj was able to unify all Rajput kingdoms but Maharaja Jaichand (Sanyogita's Father) didn't help him out over her abduction/eloping with Prithivi. Finally Prithivi Lost the second battle (but was reinstated on throne) and excecuted sometime later on treason charges.
This led to the establishment of The Delhi Sultanate (Pre Mughal Era).
Wasn't it the Battle of Tarain...correct me if I am wrong...

Am a big fan of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan and he is my idol but just as a history student I wanted to say that Samrat Prithviraj didn’t kill that awful Ghori and that story of him killing Ghori while being blind is just found in Prithviraj Raso written by Chand Bardai and is not accepted by historians as all the other sources state that he was killed by Ghori instead some time after he was defeated at the second battle of Tarain.
P.S.- don’t mistake me for being a hater or anything, I am an ardent follower/supporter/believer of the great history of our Bharat and Sanatan Dharma.

Wasted the legendry prithviraj chauhan story...we knew it already that akshay can't pull this off. Prithiviraj chauhan is one of the a legendry hindu warrior if not the most legendry. Even akshay's body language isn't convincing. After ranveer did bajirao and padmavat its very hard for other actors to convince the audience in a historic figure. Very tough.

I think before watching this movie, u should go for Wikipedia on Prithviraj Chauhan bcoz for us we grew up reading and watching TV serials based on him, so for us it's more than movie and might be u will be able to relate it to more.

As a scholar of history I would like to say that It's based on a book "prithvi raaj raso" written by chand bardai(role played by sonu sood.)
They will probably end the movie by showing prithviraj chauhan killing gori with an arrow which is also the book's climax.
In reality there were two battles between chauhan and gori..Chauhan won the first one and gori won the second one and imprisoned prithviraj chauhan. He was later assassinated and his son was given the charge of his areas after he accepted the sovereignty of Gori.
Still it looks a good movie. I hope poor performances don't spoil an interesting plot.

May be you're quoting this from Taj-ul-Masir of Hasan Nizami and Tabaqat-i Nasiri of Minhaj-ul-Siraj.
But there are other sources too which we can rely such as Prithviraj Vijaya (Jayanak) , Prabandha Chintamani, Prabandha Kosha, Prithviraj Prabandh and Hammir Raso.
Read the history from both eyes. It's quite debatable that Prithviraj didn't kill Ghori and he died in 1206 AD by the hands engrossed Khokhar Jats of Punjab.

PrithviRaj Chauhan was a great leader. On his opposite was sultan Muhammad Ghori, there were 2 wars between these 2. First won by PrithviRaj, second won by Sultan Ghori where he captured PrithviRaj and executed him, marking the start of new Regime in Indian Subcontinent.
