Yes you can use it even distortion
You could use an XLR to 1/4" adapter with a dynamic mic and go directly into the pedals. LDC requires phantom power. If you don't already have one, you could get an inexpensive (used?) little mixer for mic-pre and phantom power and use an aux to feed the pedals. It would open up options for mixing the output of the pedals back with the mic signal.
