Even though it wasn't my style Gfriend was VERY good at what they did. They were a main group killing Minx in the cute gg battle of 2015. Weekly Idol meant to tease Gfriend by asking them to dance to their song at 2x speed... but they were perfect at it and accidentally invented the 2x Dance Challenge fad that went on the next few years. It's okay, Hwasa invented the inter-group Tik Tok dance challenge all the kpop idols do these days. For the list, add Dreamcatcher + Everglow on that other show with pink walls. The dance battle between the groups, a game called pulling the radishes, and just plain Siyeon punching fruit with Everglow's Aisha.
Because you both enjoy mamamoo's live vocals + their crackhead energy, i suggest you watch EP15 & 16 of "CONODOLL MAMAMOO" where they just sing random songs in a small karaoke booth. It's both amusing & hilarious. I'm always surprised how sound sogood while playing around.

They're not called beagle-dols for nothing. lol Why is everything they do on another level whether it's vocals, performance, playing games or being crackheads? I think the primary reason is their sisterhood bond. They wouldn't be who they are as a team or have accomplished all the things they've done as a group without absolute trust, love and mutual support among the members. They believe they were destined to meet and become best friends and that foundation paved the way for their success as a group and as solo artists. Imo Solar doesn't get enough credit for her mom style leadership but clearly the kids have done their homework, their artistic house is clean and well-organized and their home is a nurturing environment where everyone feels secure and free to express themselves fully. In performance they're simultaneously tight af and loose as hell, which is the kind of thing I associate with the Rolling Stones and the best jazz bands and I think the leader deserves credit for steering the ship. 😂
I can most certainly assure you that most of Mamamoo content are this type of crack energy. Hahaha they always make me so happy and I'm really excited to watch you dive into their songs as well as exploring their personalities!! Not sure if anyone had mentioned it already but during their most recent comeback "Illella" They also had an appearance on a show called "My shoulders are dislocated!" Basically them with three other senior idols talking, chilling and drinking at a eatery. They also went on Idol CONODOLL basically a karaoke booth and they sang their hearts out, of course we know with Mamamoo they can make karaoke coin booths sound AMAZING. I still don't know who thought it would be a good idea to have just these four together on idol radio, but i'm so glad they did. It went wild, fast, and the staff let them go half an hour past the usual end time just because they were all enjoying themselves so much All four members have hosted (or been guest hosts for) radio shows, though byul has the most experience, having done a long stint on aven girls and had her own show, studio moon night. SMN was quite popular and everyone from newbie idols to experienced performers constantly talked about how comfortable she made them feel when they guested, and all their fandoms also raved about her as a host

But it's been 9 years going on 10 and we've learnt not to ask this question anymore because it'll just get wilder every time you see a new clip from them. XD "are all their variety like that?" Pretty much... if there's more than 1 member in that episode and they're together, you can bet it's gonna be wild, and the hosts and other guests would definitely be 😳😳 and 🤣🤣 throughout. But if they were on their own, the chaotic wildness would come out once they got comfortable with the hosts and other guests. (e.g. Hwasa's I Live Alone variety show where she was a guest but after the 1st episode's explosive reaction by the general public, she became a hot regular.
Also to add, it's been know (even acknowledged by their field CEO) that Moonbyul is the Chaotic Switch in MAMAMOO. If you'll notice in any full episodes, the girls are usually kinda calm (though all over the place), but when Moonbyul started moving or quietly getting chaotic, it's like the zoo's cages were all unlocked and all chaos unleashed.
