So sad to hear of his passing. Gracia De Beer started the Port Nolloth museum that he later took over. I wonder who will run it now.

I met and got to know "Doc" from the Diamond Divers show(had coffee at McDonald's every morning with him when he was in town) also Captain John I got to meet once in passing at a restaurant (my buddy I was having dinner with knew him). They were all from Anacortes, Washington, where I lived before I moved to Batumi, GE.

We were so happy that we had the chance to visit there! Started out as a pipe dream after seeing it on the map and next thing we found ourselves there 😃 we were only about 80km away from the Namibian border, so cool 😁

Abalone. Yes,in California there’s something called Abalone season. You can get very sick if you pick out of season. It’s also can be dangerous, rocks, tides and it has to be a certain size to take. Ppl po he it here & My neighbors son got caught, arrested, prison & they took his boat, truck and freezers full of Abalone. He was selling to a Restaurant in SF Bay Area ,Calif & they must keep meticulous records & the restaurant was fined too. My Grandfather use to go Abalone harvesting once a year. I’m not a huge fan myself….beautiful water, brave if you both to freeze for our entertainment. The food looked delicious & I’m a vinegar person anyway,so Yes,I’am salivating. 🤜🏽🤛🏼🤙🏼

Hi Ricky 😄 What an interesting story! I didn't know about abalones in California. Thanks for sharing that. I enjoyed the freezing swim more than Marek did 😅 and that food was so yum, I would go back and eat that again anytime 😁
