it really irritated me, the way people reacted to giannis winning that year. You dont just win titles in the nba, you have to be toughened by losses. Giannis came back tougher and stronger and so did khris, now look, he's a champ. The way he did it too, being the best offensive and defensive player. Total validation of being the MVP and Depoy

The NBA should announce the award winners before the playoffs. This MVP award felt awkward and had horrible timing.

Giannis needs to get better, yes. It's a crime to be as big as he is and not have any kind of post up game. With his height, a solid midrange jumper would give him an advantage over most defenders. He needs to be able to hit perimeter shots too, so that when teams clog up the paint and he can't drive to the basket, he can still score. He has to adjust to half court basketball if he wants to beat cohesive defensive units like the Heat and the Raptors in the playoffs.
The Bucks need to be better too. Middleton has to be consistent in the playoffs and become that legitimate second star. Bledsoe is a good player, but he's not worth that contract and he can't shoot. They need a point guard who can efficiently run the offense, knock down shots and provide floor spacing- especially when the focal point of the offense isn't a great shooter. Brogdon would have been a better choice.

I don't agree. Lebron put high expectations on himself. He never denied he was "the chosen one " and he went on record multiple times, including his first 8 years with CLE , that he was chasing Jordan. He set that standard upon himself so now when he accomplishes something it is never seen as great because it's nothing beyond MJ. Lebron didn't even leave CLE cuz he wanted to, they just had terrible management and coaching and he wanted a better organization, which was MIA at the time. But holding great players to a standard of elevating themselves isn't wrong. Lebron is the best version of himself right now. Giannis has more to go and he should get better to increase his chances.

    1. He has excellent stats in the reg. season. He ranked 2nd overall in scoring, 4th overall in rebounds, and led all MVP candidates in FG%.
    2. Milwaukee Bucks has the best record in the reg season.

Jordan averaged 27.4 for that series...not his best playoff series performance ever but averaging almost 30 points isn't exactly underperforming either. Anyone who watched that series would remember that the Jordan Rules were heavily enforced, that man was flat out abused in that series. I remember watching it...it was horrible. I don't know how he even averaged what he did. It was brutal. In 88, Jordan was still very slim, he had to put on some muscle after that. Chuck Daly knew if you limit Jordan from going off for 40 plus a night, the Bulls would crumble. Jordan was phenomenal in the regular season. The regular season isn't the playoffs. Great coaches will plan for teams too dependant on one transcendent player a la Milwaukee with Giannis. That's why they eventually had to move on from Doug Collins to Phil and the triangle offense because as great as Jordan was, in the playoffs, coaching really comes into play, you have to have ball movement and have to be able to make adjustments for when teams try to key in on stopping your superstar. Giannis needs a better coach who's better at playing playoff chess.

Yeah he's 25 and I think he can stay where he is and bring players to Milwaukee but how long will that window be open to win the title? Unless you're a generational player who everyone knows will be at the top for 10 plus years, nobody knows tomorrow. It is that uncertainty that creates pressure to get one while you're still on top. Or make sure you're on top for a long time so you have many chances to win.
