Oh this is awesome. I've lived in this area my whole life, I pass that restaurant twice a day going to and from my job in Garland via Belt Line, I even go to Elliott's Hardware next door occasionally....and I had NO idea they'd done all this.
This Whataburger is special to me because back when I was a kid back in the 70s-80s, growing up in Balch Springs, it was literally the "only game in town" as far as getting a Whataburger.
I'm so glad they preserved and upgraded it. Thank you for posting.
I miss Balch Springs Texas,I lived there in the late 70's and through the 80's, do the Wendall's still live there?back in the day there was only about 700 people, now more than 30,000 people, how about the Pliggy Wiggly store and across the street Dairy Queen?,
Ah,my hometown is represented on here again! This Whataburger is just five minutes from my house.
@@user-vi4xy1jw7e occasionally . I tend to go to the WB near my workplace but I do stop by this one whenever I can.
Im from Texas but I live in Alabama now when I watch your videos when your in Texas it reminds me of home 😔👍💯
Yes, this is located in the older part of Mesquite, in which if you go down a few blocks to Main and hang a right, you can go through old downtown Mesquite which are full of many older buildings that are well over 80 years plus old and still in use.
Awesome! I wish you could of asked for Rose. Shes been there for like 15 years. We've been neighbors for 5 years. We live down the street past the Kroger and my daughter goes to Hanby Elementary. Be safe guys!!
Yessir, my kids went there too, although I pulled my boys out in 2007 and moved them to Tisinger. They graduated 2009, 2014, and 2015. We used to live on Crest Park back then. Not the Wilkinson section, but the section by city hall.
Rose has been there closer to 25 years. I worked with her in the 90s. Rose is greatness.
Lived here my entire life, that specific location is my favorite
My Nana used to treat me here all the time in highschool. Came here at least once a week, and have lots of good memories here :)
Love them shoes 💯
From Mesquite then moved back here I remember going there hanging out after our football games 20 yrs ago. Haha
Hey...this is where I grew up!! We would walk there before we drove and it was the hangout after we started driving.
That is awesome. I love vintage materials and places, and I wish they were preserved more.
Nice. I go to this location often. Kroger is across the street 😊
I am the General Manager of this whataburger. Thank you for visiting! Come back soon!
Looks great! I grew up in Mesquite and will have to come check it out. It has been many years.
I grew up on Jasanda way , across the street and I also used to work at the minyards next door . I live on the west side of mesquite now . I still go there. I didn’t realize this was rare
These places were in my city but one of them were either abandoned or as a Mexican restaurant or as a car dealership.
These are giving me some 1950s and 60s vibes were the world is rocking with some stylized futuristic jestsons architecture!!
Awe this is cool. I’m from mesquite grew up there my whole adolescent life recently moved to down town dallas .
Proper shoes are always required for the best burger experience! 😂😂😂
nice
I’ve forgotten about those Whataburger commercials.
I remember this commercial.
They do not make commercials like this anymore.
Wallie B26 I am probably our biggest fan I love your videos so much I think you do A great job with your videos You are aIso my role model.
Literally around the corner from my house...they just remodeled the inside last year....I guess because I live so close I'm not impressed🤔🤣
We had Whataburger for a few glorious years here in Florida. I don't know what happened, but they're all gone now. It was nice while it lasted. That's an awesome looking location.
We had one of these vintage Whataburgers here in El Paso which they closed a few years ago. It's now a car dealership which is ironically named "Whatacars".
Fun fact. That church in the background has a sweet jump in the parking lot!
OMG , Thanks for visiting this location ! My best friend Carol (deceased) lived in Mesquite for many years and told me of how good Whataburger was there. We don'thave those here in Seattle .Now i know exactly what she meant ! Awesome sauce for this order ! lol
Classic style whataburger. Awesome location
I love the vintage look of this wataburger location.
That so awesome Wallie I like these Vintage :D thanks for sharing this video
This is why I like Texas over here
That place is really cool .
My wife worked there in the 70's while going to school.
Those are hitching post for when people used to use horses for transportation
Awesome Wallie
Looks like the location where I had my first job. Off of Kearney and Beltline Rd.
Reminds me of a 50s carhop, the way the cars are parked underneath the awning. Way cool!
Wow When Was Filmed on January 7 2022.
I live near this whataburger. I didn’t know all whataburger isn’t like this
Nice wallie
Awesome video man
I didn't know that this location was so vintage, it's just whataburger to me😅
I mean I can understand that. However compared to most other locations, this is one of the oldest and original designed locations remaining.
Not to dim a star, but the inside was remodeled in the 00s. It used to have regular booths along the windows and two rows of 4 tops in the middle.
That is awesome! Reminds me of the first time I went to a Dairy Queen in NC. Same kinda layout and feel. Kinda like I just walked off the set of Dazed and confused. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us Wallie.
Hi my friend and lucky you and Kayla I would love to try a Whataburger some day
Nice 😀
Nice video and you don't see the building's like that anymore
I'm lucky enough to live 2 miles away from it. Thanks for the review! Lee Penni
I remember that commercial. It's been years since I saw it. I really need to go.
Wow
Them shoes are old school!
Cool commercial at the end. Great video thanks for sharing guys.
there is one just like that on Thomasville Rd. in Tallahassee
I love your shoes!!!!! I can just imagine a 1957 Chevy pulling up in the parking spot!!!😁😁😁🍔🍔🍔
I’m getting American graffiti vibes
Nice to see you Wallie! Wow 1960s Whataburger, I love vintage fast food places
Oldie but goodie. 😊
Hi Love your new videos 😍
Love those Whataburger shoes, I would love to get a pair of those
I live in the Dallas area and did not know about this Whataburger! I will need to check it out sometime!
I think I remember that Christmas tree commercial!
In my neighborhood...real talk
Awesome Whataburger Wallie! Really enjoyed your video.
MESQUITE BARBECUE....THE BEST!!!
I know exactly where this location is and from my experience out of five thumbs up I give it one and a half thumbs up the management has an attitude and half of the people do not believe in giving quality food out of the window I was served slop out of the window around a year ago and I have never been to
this location ever again even though I stay in the area
Very cool design!!!!!!!
Awesome stuff I like retro stuff like this
Dam I remember that commercial when I was in my teens
That's a really cool find..I haven't seen any around my area of Texas..fyi..Dr. Pepper shakes are back..but I really like the chocolate mint ones too..thanks for documentation of this😊

Beautiful footage.
Whatabugger closed in ocala fl now it’s a bbq restaurant
BRO THATS MY LOCAL WATABURGER IDK IT WAS VINTAGE
You need to come to corpus christi Texas and check out our two story whataburger. Look it up whataburger by the bay.
Hello wallie
I live just a few miles from there
I am shocked theres one that still exists. The only ones ive seen are ones that have been abamdoned or converted into another type of restraunt or a car lot
I live in Texas and never seen one like this
i know south texas has maybe 1 or 2 a-frames
Bring that to Pittsburgh Wallie and watch your channel grow!!!
I worked 2 years here at this location back in 74 and 75... I made 1.60 an hour.
There was also a elevator back then that went up to the 3rd floor which was used for storage of cups, napkins, and all paper products.
This place mostly looks somewhat identical to a Wienerschnitzel which is that West Coast Hot Dog chain which we have 2 in WA state with more coming.
that's beyond cool...makes me wonder why any place has to keep remodeling,
It is the older part of Mesquite. It’s practically old Mesquite!
Why you in my block😂😂🔥
I go there
Has this one always had an interior dining room?
This is 5 mins away from my house 😂
I see you finally find a open place this time lol
Never heard this place I don't live in Texas
Whataburger is a Texas staple. Founded in Corpus Christi Texas. The family that owned Whataburger sold the majority to a Chicago company a couple years ago. I know they've got it in other states as well but mostly in the south. Jacksonville FL I know for sure & I think there's some in Oklahoma & New Mexico
I thought all whataburgers looked like this
On gross road and beltline next door to the hardware store
This one is at the corner of Kearney and Galloway. The Elliot's hardware store next door was a Minards grocery store.
Bring them to fall river
Is this the one on Gus Thomason???????????
Go to the one in corpus christi it's two stories
Are there any H-E-B stores in the parts of Texas that you frequent? They sell Whataburger's famous ketchup there, and have a huge selection of other proudly Texas-made products!
Most H-E-Bs are in the south part of Texas. The closest one to the DFW area is in Ennis Texas about 45 min south of Dallas. But they are building one in Forney Texas in the next year or so.
@@ryansalmons5279 Thank you! I wonder why they've stayed out of DFW despite their HUGE presence in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio (where H-E-B is such a powerful competitor that even KROGER failed there) because I'm sure the people of DFW would love H-E-B, and H-E-B would love them back!
@@trentpettit6336 as a life long DFW kid & one who has lived in Ennis & gone to H-E-B several times, I KNOW they will. I also heard H-E-B has bought some land in south part of Dallas too
@@ryansalmons5279 Did you know the TOM THUMB chain was bought by RANDALLS (which at the time, was a GREAT Houston chain similar to Tom Thumb) in the early 90's, and that the Tom Thumb logo is based on the Randalls logo? Also, did you know SAFEWAY (which ironically bought Randalls and Tom Thumb in the late 90's, before themselves being bought by Albertsons more recently) had stores under their own name in Dallas (and in many other parts of Texas too) in the 60's and 70's, but left Dallas sometime in the 80's?
when is the blue haired girl coming out to play?
On a side note, thank bonehead Chargers coach Staley for that OT timeout that ultimately led to your Steelers and my Raiders getting tickets to the playoffs.
I could sell you the whole collection
It wasn't just a change to a "modern aesthetic" - many jurisdictions started enacting limits on roof heights and roof signage, to which the company legally had to adapt. Plus, word has it, this design wasn't exactly the ideal, with regard to climate control bills.
I grew up in Mesquite for the last 28 years. AVOID THIS CITY, AND AVOID THE WHATABURGERS IN IT. Its gone to crap since Katrina hit back in the day. Nothing but a bunch of kids that are ghetto as hell, and frankly I dont leave the house without a firearm. If youre in the Dallas area, go to Frisco or somewhere on the northern side of the metroplex. Stay safe people.
That Whataburger was awesome! I loved the outside and inside of the vintage building! I liked your Whataburger tennis shoes! They are so cool! ❤😘👍 I enjoyed watching your video! It was so awesome! Thank you!
lots of my teenage years spent here never realized how unique it was.. even met sum chicks here. very cool for pointing out how unique it is
