It is unfortunate that UA-cam has to age restrict the original video, but if the censored version is able to bring out awareness to a more wider audience, it is well worth the extra effort. Thank you to the team for your hard work as usual.

Underage viewers know how to easily get around age restricted videos. UA-cam cannot really enforce it. No proof is needed.
UA-cam does it to legally comply or to give fair warning.

It was disheartening when I prepared my students for this clip then I saw the video was taken done when I reloaded the page. Thank you for putting it back up. It scares me that more and more people are downplaying and denying the Holocaust and mass killings during WW2. That is a factor that contributes to the situation we have today.

Wait, is someone downplaying the Holocaust?
I mean, Holocaust deniers- mainly far-righters, conspiracy theorists, neo-fascists, anti-Semites- but I'd always percieved them to be obviously-discredited fringe groups. Is there any sort of large-scale attempt at downplaying or denying the Holocaust?
I mean, it's the go-to, textbook example (in the most horrible way, of course) that people think of when they mention genocide, crimes against humanity, anti-Semitism.

I saw the uncensored version and I must say the images with Spartacus’s, as usual brilliant delivery were truly horrific and thought provoking, this is part of our history and must be told as graphically as possible to show the true horror that Man kind is capable of. I watched the World at War as a kid when it was first shown in the 1970’s it helped turn me into the anti war person I am, I think UA-cam is completely and utterly wrong to censor this video.
A big thanks to all the time ghost team for all your hard work and brilliant delivery of such sensitive subjects in such uncertain times. Keep up the good work guys, hold no punches and let’s all hope this current madness can be resolved soon and with as little blood spilt as possible.

Being an anti war person is good, nobody ever should welcome it as it is just misery and suffering.
However as much as WW1 and WW2 has given evidence that shows why to avoid war, WW2 also given proof as to what can happen if you avoid war at all cost.

Your videos on The Holodomor & these videos of the Holocaust are some of the finest videos I've seen, ever.

It just kind of hit me tonight that Ukraine suffered the death, destruction, and atrocities of the Nazis only a decade after being almost starved out by the Soviets in the Holodomor of the 30's.

I saw a tweet referencing something I would like your team to address one day: "With atrocities happening around the World the phrase we see in Holocaust memorials 'Never again' seems to be a tasteless joke."
Less than a century after that atrocity against humanity we had several other examples of "bureaucratic murder machines"(how I call the structures behind events like the Holocaust) created across the World in places like Bosnia, Rwanda, Xinjiang among others. One of which(Bosnia) seems to be denied by "intellectuals" such as Noam Chomsky.
You should create another chapter of "War against Humanity" series called "Never again?"(question mark) to talk about genocides committed after the end of the Holocaust less than 100 years ago. Since recent History tends to address currently living people and institutions it would be tricky to avoid potential lawsuits.

    • @MechWomanWarrior15
      @MechWomanWarrior15 2 роки тому +6

This is why I really like it that Spartacus says "Never Forget" at the end of his WAH videos instead of "Never Again" because, yeah, genocides have (and continue to) happen again. I'd like to think that if people didn't forget then "never again" would be possible. Sadly it seems that people are still forgetting, or worse, choosing to forget.

    • @marzbanofmerv2324

Xinjiang doesn't really fit under the murder machine category though, I've seen much hard to confirm information thrown around about there, slave labor, brainwashing, euthanization etc, but I haven't seen any half credible sources claim mass murder or holocaust level slaughter.

The only one they'll allow into Xinjiang are Han Chinese or foreign puppets, whose job is to spread lies that there's no genocide. Hardly independent journalists.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for providing this information to the public in a non-partisan manner. I am not necessarily speaking of this Ukrainian series, I am bing more general, I truly believe this is the most vital channel on youtube, perhaps one of the most vital video publications ever created. all war is deplorable, forgetting the why, where, when, or how these conflicts took place is even more deplorable in my view. While I hardly consider myself Jewish, I 100% owe my existence to my Jewish heritage, my forefathers whom have been subjected and murdered throughout known history. I do not believe in the religion I was born into, I believe in the heritage I have grown to understand, You Time Ghost not only help keep my heritage alive, but you also bring understanding to those who have not heard the stories from survivors.
Both my grandfathers fought in this particular conflict, on my paternal side Grandpa David earned commendations for his part navigating B-17s to places like Berlin, another of the many tragic events caused by the world war, covered so thoroughly by you Time Ghost. Before I saw that particular episode I never viewed any of the actions taken by the Allied powers as crimes against humanity, because of your tireless work I now know better. On my maternal side, I do not have many details but a single story of a Jewish, family in Czechoslovakia, all but the youngest son perished as far as I know. He allegedly hid inside a large hollowed-out tree while the family burned to death inside the home. somewhere on his path through the holocaust, he did find himself in a concentration camp, liberated by the red army. ultimately I am not certain how my grandpa Oscar got to America. I in fact know very little of how he survived, potentially on this own as a 5-10-year-old. You Time Ghost provides me with the details so methodically laid out, I can try and picture his path of survival and ultimately of my being brought into existence. Every day I see it as a miracle I exist, as we all should. I hear and say the words "Never Forget" it chills my very being every time. Cheers to you, Time Ghost for ensuring those words are truly never forgotten. May you never be censored, It would be a huge loss to me and humanity.
after years of watching I finally felt compelled to share because people are being killed on the same ground, so many died less than 100 short years ago. It infuriates me when I hear or see media organizations comparing the current Ukrainian situation to the Holocaust, as far as I can tell people are not being loaded onto cattle trains headed for Siberia or lined up in the streets for execution. Context is so important and so many do not have it. I am thankful I have a small amount of context, in large part due to Time Ghost. NEVER FORGET.

I am not going to lie that I felt uneasy while listening to Spartacus talking about the massacre. I did not want to, but I had to put the image in my mind of how it would have looked like so that I won't ever forget. A haunting experience, but I appreciate TimeGhost doing this in a time when misinformation and lies are weaponized to either subdue the populace or target the specified group of people as government and state's enemies on a whim with shady evidence and falacy reasons, at times.

Our most recent video of Into Context: Ukraine was age restricted by UA-cam. That means that young people can't watch it, adults are less likely to have it recommended, have to have an account, an in some regions undergo a complicated age verification video. We just want to reach people with this historiography, to make sure as many people as possible learn from the mistakes and success from the past. Spartacus, Indy, Astrid and crew especially Iryna from Ukraine.
I have been a regular commentator on Spartacus' series War Against Humanity (WAH) , and was honored when you chose one of my comments concerning the poor child Anne Frank and her historically invaluable diary. As it gets harder to find your videos on the Ukraine atrocities currently happening due to censorship by UA-cam ( who incidentally should be striving to become a key means of information not a bastion of cendirship), I want to offer you my , by now customary ling distance Bear Hugs in support of what you are doing, a small way to offer encouragement.
I also want to bring to your attention two very different things.
The first is about a little 12 year old girl named Yeva Skaletskaye and her elderly grandmother Iryna. They have fled Kharkiv and are in a refugee center in Moldova ( which by no means will be a safe place in the future). Young, brave, courageous, and inciteful Yeva has kept a diary since the invasion began. Documenting her and her grandmother's struggles as well as the struggles of her friends in Kharkiv. She is the modern day Anne Frank. Yeva's slim little diary, written in her best schoolgirl handwriting should and if right must be both a reminder and warning to the rest of the world. And I pray to God that she and her grandmother find a truly safe country in which they can live in peace. SHE MUST NOT END LIKE ANNE FRANK! she must be allowed to grow, thrive and prosper in a free world and it is up to the western democracies to help her and th 1.5 million (so far) Ukranian refugees. I found her story on the British Channel 4 news feed here on UA-cam and I encourage others to follow this poor sweet child's struggle. Sadly far too many other Ukranian children and families have not been so fortunate as to reach a safe country. Just before discovering Yeva's story, I witnessed a young family , struggling to flee, a mother, father and small child. As the BBC reporter was speaking, a Russian mortar shell exploded. The dust settles, and that poor family lies dead in the street.
You and your crew are a strong voice in this tragedy. Your message must not be censored or silenced. It was horrific to see that little family be killed, but the world must see it, and they must hear your stories of the horrors of the past, to show us just what happens when tyrants attack innocents. Keep up your excellent work, I know it must be an emotional struggle, but you are needed, appreciated, respected and loved for what you do. Again I send you my ling distance Bear Hugs.
My second point is this, it is very easy to spiral into depression, to become angry, to become morose, especially with what you must all see every day. Even I, an old disabled guy living far away in the US feel it. Yesterday I revisited an "old friend " , one who made me smile and laugh as a young man, and it lifted my spirits. Humor is an equally powerful tool, soldiers know too well it's importance in keeping them safe in terrible conditions. And you are Soldiers, the core company of the Time Ghost Army. I thought I would share this man's work. His name is Tom Lehrer, a political satirist from the 1960s, during the height of the cold war, a voice of reason and wry humor in a dark time full of terrible uncertainty. Ironic that the president of Ukraine was a comedian, a satirist, who rose to power because of his satire. It is a powerful weapon in the fight for truth and reason. Tom Lehrer's satire is relevant today, and it leaves you both seriously thinking about a difficult situation and laughing about the absurdity of it all. You can find his recordings here on UA-cam. Perhaps a brief bit of satirical humor from A time when the world faced a potential world war three, will boost your spirits and give you a bit of strength to carry on.
Iyena, I hope your family is safe and secure, and thank you to all of you.

Thank you so much for this Episode. Your introduction alone is a perfect example of unbiased and objective presentation of historical information. That it had been purposely forgotten is no surprise to me, as Stalin was also antisemitic (I believe Indy talks about it in one of the OotFH Episodes). I hope that there will be some episodes on pre 20th Century Ukraine history, for it is very interesting and goes back to the 16th Century. For those who are interested, EASTORY's three Part series about the Deludge covers some very important events of History for the whole Region. Is there a way to watch the uncensored version? I hate that youtube won't let a documentary have pictures in it. I know it's not all pictures, but it's just such a joke on youtubes' side. I'd understand it if you guys made fun of the victims, but just telling the horrific story of what happened to hundreds of thousands of people, shouldn't be censored, but maybe age restricted? I don't know why yt does these things. Anyways, i can't really say i "enjoyed" the video, as that would be kind of a weird way to say it, but i did find it interesting. And it also made it possible for so many more people to know/learn about this dark chapter in human history. So thank you Spartacus and Indy (and the rest of the team) for making this video.

True, it's just so stupid that one of their objectives is to "de-nazify Ukraine", I think Putin's playing more with European historic memory as WWII is a very much alive subject, however it gives him enough word-play as to decide when the invasion has "accomplished" the objective, this can happen in days (as he thought he could do) or years (as the US did in Afghanistan).

As far as I can tell, youtube relies on audience reporting for a lot of stuff. Which means that stuff that offends audiences gets marked for review, and then they find the images that are in just about every episode. Most of the time, the offending content is misdeeds of a nationalist group in eastern Europe. Soviet crimes occasionally get hit as well, though its hard to tell if those bad-faith complainers are Russian nationalists or pro-communists.

Dear TimeGhost content creators, could you do a comparison on the current Russo-Ukrainian war and the Russo-Finnish war in 1939 please? Remembering Sabaton's song Talvisota, the lyrical bit of "He thought of the might he possessed -And not of his foe" seemed very comparable to how things stand today. Thanks for making a form of stand despite your historian neutrality.

@Opperbuil .NL Our plan is not to cover the current conflict itself so much as to provide some context to it by looking at Ukraine's history, so such a comparison might be outside the scope of our project quite apart from the fact that the current conflict is still ongoing. Once the conflict is over (and we all pray that that is soon) historians might be able to start looking at such comparisons. Thanks for watching with us

The fact that youtube continue to restrict access to content showing and discussing sensitive yet important topics makes me angry, but most of all, dissappointed.
Even when the topics discussed and associated images and videos clearly fall under various nations' exceptions on what is appropriate to show younger audiences, youtube continues to age restrict or outright take down content because the algorithm flags something as containing gore, or even worse, taking something down for being repeatedly reported by users for disturbing content.
How are we supposed to tackle the spread of misinformation, shine a light on the truth, and tell the story of what actually happened to younger generations and those who can only access youtube without logging in and using clandestine means to access the free internet due to repressive governments, when an arbirary policy says that the content is either only appropriate for those over 18, or not allowed at all?
However horrible such content may be, how are we supposed to spread awareness in historical deep-dives such as what Timeghost is doing when any video telling the naked historical truth by using first hand sources is restricted or removed? Many of these first-hand sources are even explicitly exempted from restrictions by national censors and shown in classrooms as part of curriculums in schools across the world. The work that you do here goes in to far deeper depth on a wider range of topic, and spend more time on those topics than any school's curriculum can afford to do. Be it due to budget, time, or other constraints. Yet your important work is repeatedly censured simply because an automated system does not, will not, or is not able to make the same distiction as (human) national regulators.
History is not, and have never been all roses and daises. The main difference in detail between the events of the Thirty years' war and the World Wars of the 20th century is that we have photographic and videographic evidence of the latter. What good is such evidence to the world if we cannot show them to the younger generations? There is nothing to gain from restricting information of what the true horrors of war actually entail and the sheer scope of barbarism that humanity, sadly, has shown it self capable of time and time again.
    Never Forget.
