This song was so good people stood up from there seats to go cheer for him at the original performance. When the people were standing from there seats a chandelier fell where they had all been sitting. The music was so good it saved the lives of around 30-40 people hence the name Miracle.
Isn't that so different from the enervating, protocol heavy experience of the classical concert nowadays. People actually expressing there enjoyment loudly during the concert itself, rather than staring blankly at the stage, woe betide anybody coughing during the performance or clapping between movements. Plus its bloody expensive.
The real miracle of this symphony is the incomparable vivacity and intensity of its composition. No other Haydn symphony excepting no. 97 can rival it and few others besides by anyone.
This is called a miracle because when it was performed all the spectators were so happy they came onto the stage to congratulate Haydn . at that moment a chandelier fell where they had been sitting. Haydn therefore saved at least 36 people from death with his music . but it is said that this particular symphony did not save them . rather it was the symphony no. 101 which was being performed
Here I thought all these years it was self titled, because finally got a Mozartean like woodwind solo in his symphony at the ripe age of 70. Lol. Learn something new everyday
@@beethovenlovedmozart There are solos for almost every instrument of the orchestra scattered throughout Haydn’s symphonies from earliest to latest; none I would suggest could be described as Mozartian, they are all quintessentially Haydnesque - a very different adjective. Symphony 96 is the first* of the ‘London’ symphonies, and was premiered in the spring of 1791 (probably 11 March) about ten weeks after Haydn arrived in England; he was just short of his 59th birthday. * The correct chronological order of the first six ‘London’ symphonies is as follows: *96, 95, 93, 94, 98,* (then the Sinfonia Concertante), *97.*
Notice the many silent moments and his use of trills? Beethoven learned way more from Haydn then he wanted anyone to know because they were a lot alike as composers.
In 1980 I walked along the canals in Strasbourg, listening to this on a Walkman.
Благословенная прекрасная музыка!Благодарю вас Иосиф Гайдн♡

Actually, it seems that this happened in Symphony nº102. Nonetheless, Joseph Haydn saved people with his great music.
I heard that to but I was just explaining why it was called miracle. Because people thought it happened while playing this.
I would call it the Faerie Symphony because the Finale has a sprightly Mendelssohnian mood that suggests faeries dancing in a fairy circle.

Haydn came before Felix Mendelssohn.
Ich möchte aus tiefstem Herzen sagen - Ich bewundere Joseph Haydns Musik !!! Tepper Michael.
