武昌，位于武汉市长江之南，是一座历史悠久的古城，自三国时期以来，便在中国历史上占据重要地位。作为辛亥革命的发源地，武昌承载了近现代中国的转折与辉煌。它的文化底蕴深厚，历史印记鲜明，吸引着无数人追溯过去的脚步。
老武昌城形成于明清时期，城墙总长约12公里，环绕着城内的繁华街巷。城门的布局匠心独具，共有六大城门：临江门直通长江码头，通湘门连接九省通衢的汉阳，小东门紧邻粮仓，是商贸集散的重要节点，大东门则作为防御要塞彰显城池的雄伟，武昌门南向乡间，蛇山门则位于黄鹤楼脚下，饱览长江壮丽景观。这些城门不仅是城市的通道，也是武昌历史发展的见证者。
作为一个土生土长的武汉人，我有幸抽出一两天时间，围绕老武昌城的格局进行拍摄。这次拍摄，不仅仅是一次简单的记录，更像是一场关于记忆与情感的追溯。片段中的阳光暖暖地洒在街头，仿佛定格住了过去的那些时光。街里街坊的邻里生活充满烟火气，年节前挂满门前的腊鱼腊肉，那种失去已久的温情仿佛在镜头中找到了归宿。
然而，现实并不总是温暖。粮道街与昙华林，虽然保留了历史的轮廓，却早已被热闹的商业氛围所覆盖；得胜桥的老街巷则进入了拆迁改造的倒计时，老建筑逐渐从视线中消失。作为一名创作者，我渐渐理解了所谓“创作贴近生活”的意义--记录下它们，或许是留住一座城市情感的最后方式。
随着城市现代化的快速推进，老武昌的记忆正在逐渐褪色。那些古老的街巷、院落和城墙正在拆迁的浪潮中消失，但每一块青砖、每一个街角都承载着属于这片土地的温度与故事。
穿行在老武昌城中，时间仿佛变得缓慢。从曾经熙熙攘攘的粮道街到如今文艺气息浓厚的昙华林，从巍然耸立的无影塔到历史悠久的六大城门遗迹，每一处都在诉说着这座古城的辉煌与沧桑。这片土地不仅是武汉历史的见证者，更是时代更迭中的独特存在。
再过三年、五年、十年，我们或许都会怀念那个时候的武汉，那时的武昌城。愿这段影像成为记忆的容器，留住这座古城的最后烟火与温情。
Wuchang, located south of the Yangtze River in Wuhan, is a historic city with a legacy that dates back to the Three Kingdoms period. As the birthplace of the Xinhai Revolution, Wuchang bears witness to pivotal moments in China’s modern history. Its rich cultural heritage and historical significance continue to draw people eager to explore its storied past.
The old city of Wuchang took shape during the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a city wall stretching approximately 12 kilometers, encircling its bustling streets and neighborhoods. The layout of its six gates was meticulously planned: Linjiang Gate connected to the Yangtze River docks; Tongxiang Gate linked Wuchang with the hub of Hanyang; Xiaodong Gate was close to the granaries, serving as a vital trade node; Dadong Gate acted as a key defense stronghold; Wuchang Gate opened to the countryside; and She Mountain Gate, situated near Yellow Crane Tower, offered panoramic views of the Yangtze River. These gates were more than mere passageways-they were witnesses to Wuchang's growth and transformation.
As a native of Wuhan, I was fortunate to spend a couple of days capturing scenes around the old city of Wuchang. This project was more than just filming; it felt like a journey back to the Wuhan of my early years. The warmth of the sun seemed to freeze time in its golden glow. Neighborhood life was vibrant, with locals interacting amidst streets adorned with dried fish and cured meats in preparation for the New Year. The human warmth, long absent in modern life, seemed to resurface in these fleeting moments.
Yet, the reality of change is ever-present. Liangdao Street and Tanhualin, though preserving the contours of history, have been overtaken by the hustle and bustle of commercialization. Desheng Bridge, with its historic streets, is now in the countdown to redevelopment, and old buildings are gradually disappearing from view. As a creator, I am beginning to understand the true meaning of “creating close to life”-to document these fading scenes may be the last way to preserve the emotions of a city.
With rapid modernization, the memories of old Wuchang are steadily fading. The ancient alleys, courtyards, and city walls are being replaced, but every brick and corner holds the warmth and stories of this land.
Walking through the old city of Wuchang, time feels slower. From the once-bustling Liangdao Street to the now-artsy Tanhualin, from the towering Wuying Pagoda to the historical remnants of the six city gates, every place tells the tale of the city's glory and vicissitudes. This land is not just a witness to Wuhan's history but also a unique existence amid the tides of change.
In three years, five years, or ten years, we may all find ourselves missing that era of Wuhan, the Wuchang of those days. May this video serve as a vessel of memory, preserving the fading warmth and vitality of this ancient city.
