I was the same several years ago. You already have the formula. But you have to listen without translating in your head. If you are not able to do it yet, simply start listening without caring about the meaning, just think about how you would write what you've just heard. And start with easy listening: listen to people that speak slowly and through easy subjects. I started with "English with Emma - Engvid".
