I have always loved this anointed song. What brought it back to my spirit was because a comedian was joking about old choirs etc and happened to mention that a Deacon used to sing I SHALL WEAR A CROWN! LORD JESUS JUST HEARING THIS SONG TITLE MY SPIRIT YEARNED TO HEAR IT IMMEDIATELY! NOW I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO IT AND I NEED TO GET SOME SLEEP! GLORY GLORY GLORY! HOW I MADE IT OVER!! SOON AS I GET HOME!! JESUS!! Hallelujah!! Saaaaaaangs!!
It is. It's one of those choir/solo songs you never forget! Anointed! I, personally, miss this type of church music. I'm having difficulty with the new trend. Hillsong type of music in all churches.
I can remember when this song came out. It was at the Height of some of the Greatest Gospel Choirs to ever evolve. The late Great Min. Thomas Whitfield wrote this song and til this day, it still bless my soul.
I do apologize for not introducing the musicians on here. I was focusing on featuring the Whitfield Company. The musicians on these videos are: Demetrius "Krayon" Nabors (me) on piano, Curtis Pearson on organ, Rob Skinner on bass and Myron Bell on drums! It's been an honor & privilege sitting in the seat of the maestro! I am not trying to be him per se but, we are trying to perform his music in an excellent way.
I know that's right, this song never gets old written by an Anointed Man of God The Maestro himself Thomas Whitfield. This song will make you excited about going to heaven.
I don't think many people commenting actually know that this is "The Whitfield Company." People this is the work of Thomas Whitfield. The music is where it needs to be. I'm sure most of the singer's sung the original version. This is their original song. Smh some of these comments though.
Nile Parker People tripping talking about it doesn't sound the same and all, but this is the Whitfield company. if they flip the whole song it is still original. Just like "Jesus can work it out" by Dr. Charles G Hayes. It's still them.
THANK YOU! The Maestro Thomas Whitfield, may he continue to Reign In Power (RIP) I love this song, OUR young adult choir used to sing this song back in the day, when Gospel Music ministered to your mind body & spirit🙏🏼🙌🏼🖤🎶🎤🎼
Amen to that, cuz the comment before looklike trying to show off his knowledge of who sung the song first....who cares...its beautiful song lets enjoy it
It kinda does matter because if you are truly living what you are singing; that being a life of holiness, sanctification, and obedience unto God that anointing is going to resonate in the hearts and minds of the audience and bring about a level of deliverance and power that someone who's just "performing" cannot bring! And let's be honest, there's a lot of people out there now singing gospel that are not living a Godly life...presenting a "form" of godliness, but denying the power thereof! js
Mom passed in 2011 I listen to this make me feel the father Jesus have her 🙏🙏🙏..I love you all on here cherish the ones still here tomorrow ain't promise..
NOTHING ELSE MATTERS BUT BEING IN ORDER AND TO BE IN HIS PRESENCE. HALLELUJAH 🙏 HALLELUJAH! I'M GONNA PUT ON MY WINGS JUST TO BE WITH THE ANGELS AND THE CHRIST, THE SAVIOR THAT IS HOLY I JUST WANT TO BE HOLY IF GOD WILL ALLOW ME AND MY LOVED ONES.
AINT NOTHIN LIKE THE REAL THANG BABAY!!!!! TWC and those incredible musicians should be proud, because you have preserved that Whitfield sound that has inspired musicians and gospel music lovers for more than 4 decades! Luscious ! Thomas is alive and SATISFIED!
Such a beautiful rendition of this song. The musicians on this video: Demetrius "Krayon" Nabors (me) on piano, Curtis Pearson on organ, Rob Skinner on bass and Myron Bell on drums....such musical communication amongst instruments....everything so smooth....and the transition at the end!!!!
I luv this song. I can't wait to wear my crown n kneel at Our Heavenly Father feet n sing n praise Him all of my days. I shall wear a crown I will put on my robe and tell the story how I made it over. Thank You Lord
Hallelujah, You all were Amazing, It was just Beautiful, thank you for blessing us with your beautiful Gifts, May Gods continue Blessings rest upon you all!!!!!😇
Beautiful, Beautiful 🎼🎵🎶🎤🎹 Music, Harmony!)🎶, The direction, all in Sync. The message in the lyrics, sums it all up !! Glory HALLELUJAH....." I Shall Wear A 👑, Thank You Jesus🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much! I do appreciate you compliment! To sit in the seat of the great maestro is an honor and a lot of pressure! However, God is good and I have enjoyed my time with the Whitfield Company!
krayon04 Min. Thomas Whitfield was God's gift to us. He wrote prophetically and with an anointing that set him above the best. He was phenomenal. He was contemporary, yet foundational, and biblically sound. Folks got saved, were healed, and delivered while listening to his music. Because of his uniqueness, he attracted the gifted voices and brilliant musicians who wanted to worked with him, and are now carrying on his wonderful legacy. God promised him, and Tommy told us, that we too, would one day wear a crown. Thank you Whitfield Company, thank you.
Alot of crescendo , .and vocal dynamics . The choir was very smooth. The music old school at its best. We don't here music like that no more. Love this rendition
I had a shift Commander who lost his mother and this song was sang by a local group. You want to talk about a moment of rejoicing !!!! I had to find this song.
Flawless vocals...! THE WHITFIELD COMPANY is an amazing group; one of a kind, with that consistent signature sound and that same rich tone quality after 30+ years! The sound coming out of the band is awesome as well. They band and the vocals are doing an extraordinary dance here. I love it! This group is blessed. Peace and love...
Thank you everyone for your comments! So let me address a few comments I've read. This song is not neo-souled out. For your information this is how Detroit plays the song. If you live in the "D" then you would understand our flavor. It might sound like that but, that's not the vibe we're going for. It's 2011 and music evolves.
krayon04 Brilliant response. Certainly, we have evolved from three part harmony to voicings that are difficult to analyze and yet todays writers, arrangers, musicians, and singers are able to figure it out and make it happen. And, the majority of them are not classically trained or have degrees or formal training in music, which reflects God's desire to be glorified through music on earth and in heaven. Detroit does it well!
"neo-souled"?????? lol.. huh? Idk what those ppl are listening to! All I heard was anointed musicians and beautiful gospel singing - reminds me of back in the day at my old church
I love this Detroit Flavor!!!! Wish Thomas Whitfield was alive to witness it in this day and time. Nothing like it! That Hammond is killing me along with you Mr. Demetrius Nabhors and the other musicians. The TWC is one of the greatest choirs of all times. Still can sing, execute and hit those notes like they did 20 plus years ago. You guys keep doing what you're doing.
This is my Favourite Choir in the whole world! (I really mean it) I remember buying their album 'Hallelujah Anyhow' (in 1990) which had this song on it. I was so touched by the words and the incredible sound of the Company. When you hear songs like these, you just want to live right and serve God in Spirit and Truth. God Bless the Whitfield Company and Praise God for what has been imparted through the Maestro: Thomas Whitfield, he is truly missed.
OFF THE CHAIN! Thomas Whitfield will always be a maestro in the gospel arena and this choir certainly continues the tradition he established. The singing and music is awesome!!
What an awesome composition; strong vocals, annoited direction to get the absolute most meaning and depth! Lastly, what gifted and talented musicians who were flat out killin' it! Demetris, thank you for being so humble and classy realizing the gifts Curtis, the bassMan and drummer are from God and for His Glory!!
First time to hear this famous gospel group. Also heard so many good things about Thomas Whitfield. I think he had passed by the time I got in church and started listening to gospel music. I love the music from this period, so meaningful and moving.
man I remember when my mother use to wake me up for church for Sabbath with this song on and I even sing and practice this song with the Voices of Praise and my mother really love this but how I feel that could bring this song out in Seventh day Adventist church is God's Echoes which my auntie and my mother was in real talk
Excellent! I grew up during the height of their music. Minister Whitfield was an inspiration to me as a child. I will always cherish his music. Keep doing what you do, we need you to!!!
I just cried! Beautiful! They played this at my Grandmother's funeral and it brought back memories, and I remember feeling empty in college sometimes and when I'd go to church and and the choir would sing this, and it'd make me cry, cathartic. Amen!👐
😢😭💔 when both of my parents died they song this at they Homegoing this the month they went on to be with the Lord 10-11-13 my mother 10-3-15 my father 😭😭
@blkchi1 There is NOTHING like DETROIT musicians!!!! Those cats playing that night, Curtis on the organ, Demetrius on keys, Rob on bass and Myron on drums, some of DETROIT's elite musicians!!!
Keep up the great work! If you continue to keep an humble heart and a meek spirit, and to move forward with excellence you will absolutely be holding up MIn whitfield vision. You and crew and choir get a get a brick to the head with love.! Mami loves yall puttin' down!
This video had me in tears. My father died in March of this year and this song was sang at his funeral. You guys really put a great annointing on this song. Thank you.
My mother died March 20 of this year as well. This song was sung at her funeral and it brought joy to my heart because I know she not suffering anymore. This song does bring tears to my eyes because it is so powerful. Sorry for your lost
@krayon04 That Was Really Good, I Think Thomas Whitfield Would Have Been Proud Of The Band, Curtis And Greg Pearson Is A Really Good Friend Of Mine, Curtis Taught Me Alot On Keys. I Thanks God For Him. THE TWC Still Has It.
Whoever is calling this "neo-soul" is 1. Completely unfamiliar with Gospel music for the past 40 years. 2. Completely unfamiliar with what Soul music and Neo-soul music originated out of. Anywho, this rendition is nice... definitely has that Detroit feel, and that bass player is killing it!
pphunkwephunk San Francisco Bay Area/Northern Cal applauds Detroit. With all humility, our GMWA chapter under Steven Roberts sang this at a National GMWA Convention. Min. Whitfield had recently released it. After we sung "Soon As I Get Home" that night, Armand Baladian, President of SOG Records, had to fly back to Southfield, MI., to get more boxes of albums...vinyl back in The Day, because he sold out. Northern Cal GMWA was jetisoned to a new level because of that. We call such music, "the Detroit Sound." Even Bishop Walter Hawkins and his brother revered Detroit going back to The Voices of Tabernacle...Hulah Gene, Louise McCord, Richard Rocquemore, Hebert Pickard, Rev. Charles A. Craig and on and on. Yes, Detroit, we pay homage to you!
I have always loved this anointed song.
